  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

V8 Owners/4.6 Owners

im in the search for a ecu to have it shipped to korea and looked at by a tuner out there for the 5.0 r spec. im currently in the theta 2 but about to switch over and ive been doing some research on mods. and been asking around to the right people. i by no means plan on taking over this thread but jus wanted to shed some light for the 5.0s out there that there is a big kdm tuner out there in korea trying to do the same for u as well.

Since I have the same yr/model as you, I am very interested. While I really do like my Genny, most days I am still left sitting there, waiting for the transmission to down shift, flooring the pedal, waiting for horses to show up. It's tough knowing that there are 375ish hp under the hood and just no way to see / hear / feel them.

Put me down in the "I want to know more" / "saving my allowance" column. :-)

When I get my 5.0 (r-spec) ECU back and if BTR fails to crack it, you are more than welcome to borrow it...:)

My car pulls hard once the tranny shifts into the right gear so feeling the power isn't an issue for me using the throttle kick down function but it would be nice if the transmission was more eager to drop gears without the kick down. The 4.6 gains speed fairly briskly if you go WOT at highway speeds so the power is there.

Kick down on the 4.6 should not be more than 600ms, if you are waiting for longer than that I would suggest looking at the 'dead pedal' thread and try reversing the air intake door magnets to see if that helps to resolve this issue... Just my two cents...

Response is fantastic in 'manual' mode. Lol. I really had a blast driving my 4.6 on the dragon. Stayed in 2nd and 3rd most of the run, and the pull was plenty good. I had to push it, but I could 'keep up' with the coupes. Not really, but better than expected.

Just a quick update guys - the 5.0 is still under 'development'. I have been able to secure a BTR tune date in August. We will get all the particulars down, and report what we find. I know it's a wait, but we've waited this long already... :)

Looking forward to the jailbreak tune. Thanks fir update. Oh, make sure they can reflash speed limits. Opening them up to whatever each generation and engine type will do. Currently, Hyundai is putting H rated tires on second gen V6, big change from prior 2015 V6 with W rated tires. They turned it down to under 130. Point is, they might decide to fool around with tunes without telling customers that impacts performance or capability that people want to have (even if they do not use all of the capability).

Asking for 50 HP on a naturally aspirated motor (that wont happen.) If it was a turbo or a diesel then yes. But like stated above if they can break into the CPU and take all the granny limiters out and get another 15-20hp out of it from the seat of the pants it will feel huge especially off the line. Being able to totally disable the limiters is what I will hope for. I have easily had over 20 different programmers for vehicles. Hell I even have one for my quad. I have a 140hp tune in my Cummins right now. Super interested in this and happy someone is trying to do it!!

Besides the adjustments/tune for the motor, I am asking that they utilize the ESC disable button in a manner that completely disables. They feel that should be possible.

I agree Tailwalker. My opinion that would be worth the price of the tuner alone..

Any update on this? I'm assuming they aren't going to make the August date :)

No, the August date fell through. I spoke with them last month, and am trying to schedule something at their shop this fall during their SEMA build. The tuner from Korea will be local at that point, and they just installed a DynoJet. I have a car local to them as well that would like to assist. I will update as I know more...I know it's been a process...

Damn if they can figure out the 5.0 that would be wonderful.

Working on the 5.0, but it has proven to be problematic. As of now, the only method is to re-chip the ECU instead of re-program as they wish to. I will update as I get more info. It's a process...

I don't know if this has been asked and answered already but I keep hearing conflicting comments. What is the status of tuning the 3.8 sedan? I'v heard it is tune-able from some on here but I have not seen any actual evidence of this.

I'm not 100% sure on this. It should be tuneable in the sense that its the same engine as the Genesis Coupe which has been tuned already but there might be differences in the ECU.

BTR does have a tune for the 3.8 sedan. Reach out to them!
