  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi! New forum member here. I am going to pull the trigger for a V8 w/ tech package sometime this week and was wondering what kind of prices have other members been getting recently for a 2009 model. The first quote I got without any negotiation was $37,930 plus ttl. Does this sound reasonable or can it go lower because the 2010 models are coming out soon? Thanks for your help!

Jose

That's not a bad price, but if it's the first without negotiating I would start lower. Offer a grand less and see what happens!

Good price. I paid $38,000 plus tax/tag/title for mine - no other fees, and came away smiling. Very, very few paid under $38K for a v8 tech package. See what else that includes and what he is tacking on. (For example - is this plus dealer prep, or is included?)

The way I would look at it, Jose, is that the dealer, or more properly the salesman, has defined his price's upper limit. Now you know that with negotiation, the price can only go lower. Good for you. Not knowing precisely when the 2010s will show up, the prices may not go much lower until they do.

Go get 'em! :)

Thanks for all the replies! I also agree that the price can only go lower, but I doubt that it would be much. Either way, I think this is a lot of car for the money. My wife and I plan on going to the dealer on Friday and I will report back with a final price.

You're right, it shouldn't go much lower. As I recall, employee pricing a couple of months ago was $37,300, or 2% below invoice plus destination. Bottom line is you're right again: it's a lot of car for the money, and at the price you were quoted you aren't being ripped off.
One last thought:
While the quoted price may indeed be the ceiling, you may also be dealing with someone who gave you his bottom price to get the deal done. Ultimately, it's all about what you're comfortable with.

I just bought mine and paid more than that, so you are getting a good price IMHO! I wish I hadn't read this thread, I could have saved another grand! Oh well, made up for it in my 176K 10 year old Honda trade in! I won't dwell, I LOVE my new car!

I am very happy to report back that I am now a happy owner of a Titanium Gray/Beige V8 w/tech package. This is definitely the most car for anyone's money and it's not even close. The final price I paid was $37,900 plus ttl and not other dealer fees. I want to thank Al Wagener at Knauz Hyundai in the Chicago area for the smooth and painless transaction. They have a few more of the V8s that I am pretty sure they will sell for similar prices with absolutely no haggling. Time to go drive some more.

Congrats on the new car! I just got mine 2 weeks ago, and I still get excited to drive it. The night I bought it, I decided to go drive it just the heck of it. It was definately fun to see the headlights move at night. My wife just rolls my eyes at me.

Take care,

Bob

Sounds like a good deal...congratulations! Do I have the numbers right? First quote 37,930...final price $37,900?
Thanks

Yes, that's correct. I didn't even bother negotiating because the price seemed low enough and did not realize that the price was $30 lower until I got home.

I think I like that dealer's way of doing business...
Enjoy your ride...

Congrats, Jose, good on ya! Welcome to the fold (of Genesis owners) :grouphug:

I'm happy that you had such a pleasant buying experience. May your gennie give you just as much pleasure. :welcome:

care to share what dealer that was?

It was Knauz Hyundai in Lake Bluff, IL. Speak to Al Wagener if you are interested. He seemed like the straight honest car salesman. Gave me a great price without any negotiations and did not try to sell me extra stuff.

i got mine in late april for 37,6K in new york with negotiation, wish i would have waited till the end of the year to get a better price though, ohhh well i love the car so it doesn't matter

Get the no extra cost Ti Gray paint waxed up and look at it on a bright sunny day and then compare it to the MB E class $720 optional metalic paint. :D
