  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I bought my new Genesis from them on 8/31. Two weeks later, they still haven't paid off the lien on the car I traded in. I've called them twice about it, spoke to "Frank" in finance, and they assured me that the proverbial "check was in the mail", and that they'd been really busy, etc. Meanwhile, I'd already contacted my insurance company to have my insurance switched to the new car, and there are all kinds of potential legal ramifications of them (or someone else, if it's been sold) being in a possession of a car I'm legally still responsible for.

Also, if you deal with them, make sure the numbers in finance match the numbers the salesman agrees to.

Be warned.

Can you go by there in person and demand to see finance manager? That is what I had to do after purchasing my car and had an important issue I was getting BS'd for. Finally emailed owner of dealership. He had the issue resolved that day and my check in the mail (for real.).

Same thing happened with a dealer in Canoga Park, CA. The dealer was a customer of mine, but he was non responsive when it was time to pay his bills. The dealer not only did not pay off liens on cars traded in, he resold the cars!
And yes, he did end up in jail.

Call your local DA and get busy, or you'll owe monies on both cars.

I checked again a few minutes ago and FINALLY they've paid off my lien. 2 weeks after trade-in, and AFTER a loan payment would have been due on the previous car (thankfully, I'd already paid for the period or else I would have had a delinquent payment on my CR).

I wonder how many times I will have to call them to get them to process my extended warranty refund.

As for liability for a car you no longer own...Make sure you go to the TX DOT web site and use the online tool to de-register the car from your name...

From my experience, it always looks like those "finance managers" should be pit bosses at Caesar's.

Pit bosses are far more trustworthy.

Well a couple of updates are probably useful. They did eventually get their paperwork processed. As far as I can tell, it took them a week or so to buy out my previous loan, at which point the payoff quote period had expired, necessitating that I pay not only my new September car note, but also approximately $56.00 of my other car note as well.

On Friday I called about my canceled extended warranty, because I wanted to make sure it was being processed. I again spoke to Frank, who promised to call me back in 20 minutes (which of course didn't happen). I called back later and got someone useful, Howard, who runs finance and is apparently Frank's boss. He apologized assured me I'd receive a call today from accounting letting me know the status, and I in fact I did get that call. Check's in the mail, which, I actually believe is the case.

Are you referring to an extended warranty you purchased on the new car?
