  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Vibration at Highway Speeds

In case it has not already been mentioned, it might be worth checking the driveshaft and/or U joint if you have already tried [multiple] new tires and/or wheels, and done a tone of RF balances to no avail. I noticed that Hyundai/Genesis seems to have a lot of trouble with their driveshafts, and that is a component that can definitely cause vibration issues at high speeds, especially if you are feeling the vibration under your seat AND in the steering wheel (basically the entire car).
Agreed, and since I've changed all the wheels and tires, it rules them out as the culprit. When I bring it in for my first service I will have them look at those areas.
Just an FYI... it's not felt in the steering wheel (on my car). Only in the seat, which is why I suspected the rear only.

I can’t be 100% sure, but since the rear-half-shafts recall fix this week, the GV60P seems to ride much smoother at highway/freeway speeds. Perhaps that’s the fix for some of these vibration issues.

Probably not your imagination. I have had a 2015 and a 2019 G80 with bad driveshafts while still under 30K miles. I know that is a different model, but it illustrates the same problem Hyundai has with their driveshafts. The service rep that I worked with immediately recognized the problem when I described it to hime because he has had plenty of other people with the same problem. Then you have that recall, which just convinces me that it is not just based on my experience.

Glad to hear that... unfortunately, I'm not on the list for that particular recall (seatbelts... yes). I can try to talk them into doing the work because it's covered under the warrantee... which it should be.

I don't have any recalls either, so I assumed that the newer ones came with good shafts.

My vibration issues were also resolved after the driveshaft replacement. Same wheels and tires, and previously I had the vibration issue both on my all season and snow wheel/tire sets. My vibration issue was somewhat intermittent, but now it's completely gone.

Well that's great news! Mine isn't on the recall list for the driveshaft. ☹️

Nor is mine.
I would get the dealership to check anyway if you are having the same vibration issue and already tried a bunch of tires and wheels. You might still have driveshaft issues not related to the recall. If anything, I would be willing to bet the recall is related to a bigger quality issue with Hyundai driveshafts in general.

Absolutely. I was planning on that at my first service. Obviously, this is a known issue, and I think you are correct... it probably extends to more vehicles than the recall allotted for. Like mine, GenesisJohn and others.

I had all 4 tires balanced by NTB and the vibration has gone away 100% or close to it. I'm relieved!

Took delivery of a new GV60 late last week and noticed right away there is a vibration at highway speeds which feels like it might be a defective tire or out of balance tire. It's certainly not severe, but it's definitely noticeable. I'm going to bring it back to the dealer who is unfortunately 1.5 hours away. Anyone else experience this, and what was the fix? TIA
Hi did they solve the vibration issue?
I just got. 2023 GV60. I experience the exact same issue. Vibration at around 60 mph.
Took it back, had the wheels balanced.
Vibration still there.
Any ideas?

I have the same problem but only when I first drive it. It always smooths out. I figure the tires get flat spots from sitting parked. The car is very heavy. Something I’ve learned to get used to

I wonder if pumping the tires higher helps with flat spots. I pumped my 20" to 40 PSI. I did take my car to a tire shop to balance all 4 tires to fix the issue.

My GV60P is in for the 5k service today and this was one of the things I requested be looked at. Will report back.

After balancing and checking the quietening foam inserts on the Michelins, we swapped the wheels from a loaner GV60 which massively improved the situation. Still have a slight thrum when cold \ parked overnight, but it disappears with heat or rotation, so I suspect it's a symptom of the tyre inserts.

After all the above, mine did have the driveshaft recall also.

No, despite my numerous attempts (see above) to get the issue resolved, I'm now at 13k miles and it's still the same. I do have flat spotting especially if the car has been sitting for more than a couple of days, but that's not unique to the GV60. You can feel the flat spotting issue well under 60 mph and it goes away after several miles.

As I mentioned above. I did try increasing the tire pressures, and while I actually like that it firmed up the handling a bit, that made no difference with either the flat spotting nor the expressway speed vibration.

I did have the rear axle recall work done and it made no difference.

My current thinking is that when I need new tires I'll try the Pilot Sport All Season 4's despite that they cost about $100 more per tire. There were at least two other owners here who did that and it solved the problem immediately, although they both did comment that those tires have a noticeably firmer ride (not surprising given they are higher performance tires).

I have not noticed the problem but I also plan to move the Pilot Sport...although probably 4S as I essentially have summer all year round.

My highway vibration is still present 1yr+ but I just live with it for now. Sometimes it's better sometimes it's worse even within the same drive.

Where I live, we have 'rain grooves' on the freeway surfaces. They tend to exacerbate the issue.
I swapped out all 4 wheels and tires, and I still get the vibration between 69 and 73 mph. It's better now, but not completely gone. I live with it too at this point. It's been a year.
