I'm a happy camper. The Michelin Premier A/S tires are great. No more vibration. I haven't taken it on the freeway yet to verify, but on a secondary two lane road I got it up to 80 mph for a few seconds and there was no vibration (especially in the hood). I should be able to get it out on the freeway in a day or two.

The only thing I noticed is some noise comes into the cabin when you drive over those patch jobs in the pavement (where they seal the cracks in the road). This was one of the things mentioned in a professional Tire Rack Review and I knew that going in.

But the Premier's are still quieter overall than the MXM4's, smoother riding, and the Genesis is now a joy to drive.

Have you had the car on the interstate since you had the Premier's put on? If so, what are the results?

Yes, I tested it out today on the freeway for the first time. It was smooth riding up to 80 mph and at 85 mph I noticed a very slight vibration (nothing like it was with the MXM4's...which were out of balance). I don't think anyone else but me would notice the vibration.

Today was just a quick test drive for only a couple of miles on the freeway. Once I test it again for a longer stretch, I'll update. It's possible I was on a stretch of roadway that had imperfections.

How about different Michelin tires? I have Pilot Sport A/S and really like them. I have had them on multiple vehicles.

Went for a 10 mile freeway test drive today and the very minor vibration was still there between 85-90 mph, but the car was like riding on glass at 100 mph. Very happy about that! (Not that I'll be driving that fast very often).

Here's my updated story (from post #170 on page 17):

So, I've decided to go to local Discount Tire and talked to them.
They told me to call Michelin and get the claim# and come back.
I simply called and told them I'm getting vibration from tires and not satisfied w/ Michelin MXM4.
They asked me some info (home address, car make, year, tire model, size and current mileages, etc.) and set up the claim.
I went back to Discount Tire and they called Michelin w/ my claim#.
Michelin approved that I can get full credit on all 4 tires only in exchange w/ different Michelin Tires.

They had Michelin Premier A/S on stock but the difference in cost was $15 higher per tire ($224 and $239).
One thing odd was that they had two different pricing for Primacy MXM4 ($224 and $203).
At first, sales rep credited $203 per my tire but I showed him the $224 one and he used that one. (I later found out that according to Tire Rack website, $203 one is originally equipped with 2015 Genesis and the difference between two are tread width and traction rate if not typo)
Anyways, I paid $60 + mounting, balancing, new TPMS, small taxes from $60, no disposal fee = total of less than $170.

The outcome?

Sorry, but here comes another story:

First, all of this vibration was gone but I heard strange metal tin rattle/clicking noise (almost sounds like popcorn on microwave but metal sound) coming from rear passenger side whenever I drive over 60 mph!
I took it back, they lifted the car and visually inspect for anything stuck on threads, none.
I drove couple of days and the noise was still there so I called and setup an appointment. I recorded this on my phone and showed to them.
They took the passenger tires off the rim, fully inspected and re-balanced and rotated w/ two driver side tires to see if it's tire issue or other issue.
I don't know what was the problem but that metal noise was gone, but now I felt slight vibration only on steering wheel when driving at 60 mph+.
What??? Is this mean I can get different results every time they balance and rotate tires?
So, I think this can be fixed, but then again, I'm not so sure with my luck so far...
I drove about 2 days and I’m now debating whether to go back for re-balancing or not.
I guess I can live with this as this vibration is very little and it’s not anything like when I had MXM4.
And what if I get something different results or metal noise back...

I know I shouldn't pay any money for this issue but I already went thru so much time, hassle & headache that I just wish I could have done this month ago w/o go thru dealer/HMA BS. I even thought about selling the car since I got it very good deal. Maybe now is the time before it depreciate even more and even make some money off of it.

Now the comparison of two tires on my own experience:

Primacy MXM4 (driving for 1 month):
Flat spots, bouncy feel, VIBRATION on seats, my feet and on steering wheel all the time at 40 mph+, very smooth and quite ride under 40 mph (very good at absorbing road noise, bumps, etc.)

Premier A/S (driving for 1 week):
Solid, no flat spots, firm, no vibration under 60 mph, very slight vibration only on steering wheel over 65mph~85mph (this is highest I tested on highway) but nothing compared to MXM4. Although it rides very good under 60 mph, less smooth and quite ride feeling and I can feel more road noise (less absorbing on bumps, etc.) compared to MXM4.

I think MXM4 can be better tires for the car ONLY IF this flat spot issue isn’t there. Smoothness and quite ride is by far the best, again, ONLY IF vibration isn’t there. Premier A/S is newer version of Michelin and has better reviews and the biggest issue for me was this all time vibration issue. I think majority of other members who don't have this vibration issue will surely enjoy MXM4.

I will update more if I decide to go back for the third time's a charm.:p
Sorry for the long stories but Good Luck and hopefully my story will be helpful to someone who has the same issue:)
Here's the comparison of the tires I got from Tire Rack.

Myst...your description of making a claim with Michelin is exactly what I went through. It was pretty painless as the tire shop did 90% of the paperwork/phone calls.

I'm happy with my Premiers and wouldn't go back to the MXM4's.

Here is an interim update on my vibration issue. The car had it new, I had all 4 MXM4s swapped in April. I still had significant vibration at 65-75 MPH. I gave the tires the chance to break in, and went back last week to have the issue resolved during my second oil change.

My tech called yesterday, and said that I have 3 of the 4 tires out of spec, and they can't be properly balanced. Hyundai's response was to replace the 3 bad ones. Ummmm.... no!

My Tech asked me what I'd prefer, and I asked for Conti's (DWS 06). They went back and forth with Hyundai a bit, and I just got a call as I was typing this that the Conti's are on order!

I'm pretty confident that this will solve the issue, since they swapped with another car temporarily, and the vibration was gone.

I'll post back in a couple of days as to the final results.

I'm very interested in the new Genesis but am concerned by the vibration issues raised on this forum. I've test driven a 3.8 AWD and experienced the vibration during the drive. I discovered the vibration before being aware of the issue here.

After taking the poll, any comments you have will be appreciated. Thanks!

.

Mine had a slight vibration at highway speed but it was addressed when they replaced the Hankooks ( I think) tires with new Michelin's under the recall.

While I have seen the poll results, I have not actually taken the poll. I will do so once I have a final answer after the tire swap. If you check the results, the majority either don't have an issue, or had it fixed. I'd also not take the % of folks who do have the issue as a direct correlation to cars that actually have the issue. It appears that most of this is tire related. I suspect that the MXM4s had a bad run, and/or may not be the best match for this car despite generally having decent reviews.

I am happy to report problem solved! :D
So... Bottom line.... 2 bad sets of Michelin MXM4s, with multiple balance attempts. Solved with a new set of Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 tires.

I went to my dealer (Rosen Hyundai of Algonquin, IL) to pick up the car. My Tech, Dan came along with me on a test drive. We got out on the Freeway, and I had it up to 85 for a short stretch, and it's smooth as silk.

The difference is dramatic. Frankly other than the high speed vibration, I had no complaints on the Michelins. (Aside from normal cold flat spotting) I am amazed at how much better the Contis feel. They seem quieter as well.

I updated my poll to reflect that I had the problem, but it's fixed with new tires.

I have to give a shout out to Rosen Hyundai who stayed with me on this problem, and worked with Hyundai Corporate to replace the OEM tires with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06 set. I will also say that I am pleased with Hyundai for stepping up to do the right thing.

My suggestion to anyone who is still suffering the problem is to make sure your tech rides with you and drives to validate the issue. While most owners probably have no issues with the Michelins, there have been several posts from users who still had issues after a swap with MXM4s. (Although my loaner had MXMs and it was fine)
Some fared better with the Michelin Premier A/S tires.

I am very happy with my premier A/S tires. I have had them on several vehicles and been very happy with them. That is why I selected them.

I think the Extreme Contact DWS would be another good choice. I seriously considered these.

Michelin does stand behind the mileage warranty on their tires. Unfortunately, the staggared size on the V8s cuts the mileage warranty on the rears is half as long.

I just put about 150 miles on the car today. About 50% highway. I am very pleased with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS tires. Totally smooth. No vibration.

For any folks out there with a continuing issue, I'd make sure that the tires are in spec with a road force balance. I had 2 sets of Michelin Primacy MXM4s; the first set was diagnosed as "defective", and the second set 3 out of 4 could not be balanced.

I am not knocking the MXMs in general. My loaner with MXMs was fine. Most reviews are generally positive, but in reading through these threads, it seemed that MXMs were somewhat prevalent as causing the issue when the tires were the cause. I also suspect that the wheels on this car may also contribute to the tricky balance issues. I will suggest that if you have had MXMs replaced, and you still have the issue, ask to have a replacement with the Conti DWS 06, or the Michelin Premier A/S, which also have excellent reviews.

I really liked the car anyway, but since the replacement, the feel of the car is in a whole different league. It's really a joy to drive now.

I now have the 80mph vibration after putting on 4 new Continentals - is there a known issue/solution..the originals (also Continentals) never vibrated..
I have 25,000 miles on the 15 G 5.0.

Note- the vibration from the tires resulted in the hood flex/bouncing issue discussed elsewhere.

If the originals did not vibrate, and the replacement tires do, I'd say that you have a balance issue, or a bad tire, or tires.

Ask to have a road force balance, and ask regarding the specs. There is a number score for the balance of each tire. I don't remember precisely, but they match the high spot of the wheel to the low spot of the tire. The number for each tire wheel combo should be less than "x" (19?) In my case I had 3 tires with low scores, and one that came in around 17 or so after the balance. As long as the number was at or below the target, they should balance OK.

I've got about 400 miles on the new set, and they are excellent.

Dealer says I have a bent wheel. It did not vibrate new out the door before or after I blew a tire on a pothole - is it possible the dealer bent the wheel changing tires? I wonder if the wheels can be bent that easily and if that's causing a lot of folks' issues?

If the bent wheel is the one that had the blown tire from hitting a pot hole, yes... most likely that is what caused the issue. Pot holes can cause that damage. The wheel must be repaired if possible, or replaced.

I saw the initial reply but I am just wondering if your problem was ever resolved. I have the same problem with my 2015 G ultimate 5.0, but this happened after Hyundai replaced 2 of the recalled tires (the free ones) after 1 had a punctured nail (front) and the other they noticed that the rear tread on one tire was separting!. They replaced with new Contentinental Pro Contacts so now i have two new tires and two old tires with about 20000 on them. Now I have been to Hyundai and private tire shops 4x to eliminate the problem you describe and have had no luck whatsoever with new balancing and new alignment. I am thinking that I might have to purchase 2 new Contential Pro Contacts. When Hyundai made the intial recall replacement the contenentials were just fine for highway driving which is the majority of my time on the road. any help or direction would be welcome.

The poster that you referenced has a bent wheel... that will need repair or replacement.

I'm a little confused on your issue. Were all 4 of the Hankooks replaced?
Which tire had the puncture and the tread separation?

A competent tire shop should be able to diagnose if any of your 4 tires are out of balance, even if they cannot fix the issue. There is a spec for the interaction of the wheel with the tire. In a road force balance, there is a number assigned, and if it's too high, the wheel and tire cannot really be properly balanced. (IIRC anything over ~ 19 lbs is likely to not be acceptable)

See this url for more detail.

So would this presumably be fixed on the 2016s?

My 2016 3.8 AWD with 1500.miles has michelin tires. Tire vibration at 70 mph Vibration at idle and starting from a stop A/C cuts the vibration but still there

My 3.8 RWD vibrates a little bit when AC vent is on high, vibration stops when I turn off the AC and restarted again at lower vent settings.
