Another update... the dealer cannot get the Premiers. It's not an issue of pricing.. they offered another option that was a bit more $ than either the Premiers or the MXM4s.

Apparently Hyundai has a set list of tires they can get, and the Premiers are not on the list.

I could get the claim info and go to Discount Tire, but I'd have to pay for the mount and balance, and this is a lease, so I won't bother.

Other than the vibration, I have no complaints on the MXM4s. Hopefully they can get these in and get me back in my car tomorrow.

This is one of the smoothest driving cars (possibly the smoothest) I have ever had. It is at least equal to the Lexus GS300 I owed a few years ago and certainly better than the Audi I traded in for the Genesis. I still have the original Hankooks and see no reason to change.

In my opinion you were fortunate to get a vibration "free Genesis" I have changed tires, rotated, balanced, trued, etc in 22,000 mi & still have an "uncomfortable car"

Yours is 1G?

I went through Discount Tire about 30 days ago to get the Michelin Premiers. After my routine driving (no road trip yet), I can tell no appreciable difference between the Premiers and the standard Hankooks as to ride quality or noise. I do not drive aggressively so can't offer an opinion there. I did not have any type of vibration problem before the tire change and still don't. Nor have I seen a noticeable increase in mpg with the low rolling resistance Premiers. I will update if my upcoming road trip shows otherwise. So far, the Premiers have not been worth the hype.

Several months ago, I had a rental from Enterprise for a 2,300 road trip from Dallas to Phoenix. I had reserved a full size and requested a Sonata, Malibu, or Fussion. When I arrived to pick up the car, they were out of full size cars and upgraded me to a new (70 miles on the odometer) Chryster 300c. I dislike the in-your-face, dated styling and feared that the fuel mileage would be in the 20s. The 300 is basically similar to the V6 Genny; it has a V6 and 8-speed transmission, it weighs about the same, and has equivalent interior and trunk space. The major difference is that it comes with Michelin MXV 60 series tires.

While I would never buy one due to the styling, I could not have been more pleasantly surprised. With interstate driving at 75-80, I averaged about 31.5 mpg (my Genny averages 30). The 300's transmission is geared for about 200 rpm less at 75 but the engine does not have direct injection. With the higher sidewall tires, the ride was noticeably smother. It really struck me as a modern version of the Ford Crown Victoria. It makes me wish that Lotus had recommended 55 series tires for the V6 Genny instead of the 45s.

OK - got the Michelin MXM4s installed. I was only able to get the car up to about 62 MPH for a few seconds a couple of times on the way home. So far totally smooth, no vibration.

I'll have it out on the expressway on Friday, should be able to get it to 70-75 MPH for a bit to verify. Assuming it's good, I'll take the poll then; Had vibration, solved with tire swap.

What does the cars digital TPMS readout say your pressures are (PSI)?

They are currently about 36 cold.. which is a little high. I may back them off to 34-35 now that the weather is getting warmer. I had the OEM tires set at 35 cold in about 30 degree weather starting in December so that they would not be too low in the zero degree weather.

Changing pressure did not seem to change the vibration much, other than perhaps the little bit of flat spotting for the first couple of minutes. I consider that normal. Lower pressures (33psi) seemed to exhibit a bit more of the flat spotting.

Agreed! the V6 genesis would be a perfect car with a bit more sidewall give. :)

Ran it all the way up to 110 mph today and smooth as silk - no vibration with the Michelins (never had any vibration with the Hankooks on the 2015 either - but I would say that the Hankooks had a slightly "sportier"/ better handling feel).

Here's my story:

Purchased a brand new 2015 Genesis 3.8 AWD Signature and noticed vibration on steering wheel, seat and on my feet (at 40 mph+ and 60 mph+). Dealer stated that all Michelin MXM4 tires have some flat spot. They did road force balance and showed me the results. Two fronts were 17 and 18 lbs. and two rears were 23 and 24 lbs. According to them, two fronts were within the spec (15~18 lbs.) and so they replaced rear two tires yesterday. This sounds easy and fairly quick but took me whole month w/ dealer playing game. (3 total visits, contact sales, service manager, the owner of dealer and they processed thru HMA, etc.)

Anyways, when I drove out from the dealer, I noticed rough vibration in seat and on my feet, but went away after couple of miles driving. This morning driving to work was same thing. Noticeable at first few min. and fine (within 50 mph speed). However, I can still feel (less than before but noticeable) vibration on steering wheel, seat and on my feet when driving over 60 mph. So, although vibration got much better, it's still there. And my guess is that initial flat spotting is normal (?) in this tire? Temperature is about 50 degrees here in Chicago and the car was parked a few hours at the dealer and overnight at home before I drove each day. They have set the tire pressure at 31 psi and goes up to 33 psi when driving. I don't know if this is true but they told me that vibration from body of the car (which I feel on seat and on my feet) is coming from rear tires and vibration from steering wheel is from front tires. Also told me that I can feel more vibration if the tire pressure is set at higher psi.

Well, how bad is this vibration? It all depends on each individual but I'm pretty sensitive when it comes to driving and I can definitely feel it all the time although my wife is saying she can somewhat feel it if she pays attention about the issue but for the most of time, it doesn't bother her specially driving with all other road conditions/noise... :o

With mixed up feeling I'm having at this point, I think I'm done w/ dealer for this issue. Maybe I can go to 3rd party shop (discount tires or tire rack) and re-do the job at my expense? (hopefully they can warranty two fronts or maybe if I can swap them all with different brand?) I'm at less than 2,000 mileages. Any suggestion?

Other than that, I love the car. I wish I can fix this issue soon so I can move to the next project: tint the windows and install fog lights.:)

I purchased a 2015 AWD Ultimate in late March. I had test driven the 5.0 and several 3.8 AWDs and for everyday real-world driving, I decided on the AWD. The pep of the 5.0 was certainly nice. :) During those drives, I did not notice any sort of vibration in the steering wheels. In fact, I remembered how smooth and quiet everything was with a nice little rumble from both engines.

The dealer didn't have the car I wanted so they had to find one 220 miles away. They had it brought in and I picked it up late on a Saturday afternoon. After about 20 minutes of driving it I noticed the vibration in the steering wheel and seats - especially above 45 mph. It was too late to take it back to the dealership so I scheduled an appointment for the following Monday.

When I took it in, they said all four tires were bad and out-of-spec. They were going to replace the tires but had to order them. So they tried to road-force balance them the best they could and told me that they'd call me back when the tires were in.

I took it back once the tires were in and they had the car for over a week. When they finally called, they stated that they had to run through "12 sets of tires" before they found some that fell within specs. The car was great for about a week but then it sat for four days. The vibrations returned and have been there ever since.

I am now working with HMA and the dealer again because I have requested different tires. So, they're working with Michelin and I am taking the car back on Monday to try and get this resolved. The dealership had a field engineer come out and they will also be doing some drivetrain tests on the car.

Overall, this is a great car and I could not pass up the Hyundai Circle Pricing they were offering for these. The dealership has been absolutely wonderful and HMA has been helpful too. Hopefully this can be resolved because this is certainly something I am not accustomed to with Hyundai.

Hope to have some good news late next week...

I had my MXM4s replaced, but with the same tire. I still have some vibration, so on the next service, I'll be asking them to take another look.

Was this 12 tires, or 12 sets of 4? Were these all the Michelin MXM4s?
If so... I'd like to get your case # if you have one (via PM) once the issue is resolved. I suspect that Hyundai got a large batch of these tire in one shot due to the recall, and perhaps many are bad. I wanted to get switched to either the Conti Extreme Contact DWS 06, or the Michelin Premier A/S, but I was told they would only swap with the MXM4s.

Congrats! I am in a very similar situation as you. In fact, I just posted my story...

I am trying to do everything through the dealership / HMA so everything is documented. In my short experience with this tire, it is my opinion that Hyundai surely is aware of the MXM4 issues. I am definitely taking the "new tire" route as I am not happy with these.

Tinting windows is a must and that's the first thing I did. I also swapped out the rear badge. I was surprised to find out that fog lights weren't an option on this car but I'd be curious to know how the install goes for you. Good luck!

That's a good point and I am not exactly sure since my wife spoke to them. I was traveling. I can tell you that they were all Michelin MXM4s.

I am hoping to get the DWS 06 or the Michelin A/S; I suspect it will be the latter since it is going through a warranty claim with Michelin.

I'd be happy to share my HMA case when this is resolved.

I had the vibration and dealer road forced balanced all four tires and said all was well. I still have the vibration, although not as bad. I went to a tire shop and they said they could only road force balance two tires and the other two were defective. I previously called Michelin and opened a case and the tire shop followed up with that. Michelin will pay to replace two tires and I will pay to replace the other two. I'm switching from the MXM4 to Premier A/S.

I'm a happy camper. The Michelin Premier A/S tires are great. No more vibration. I haven't taken it on the freeway yet to verify, but on a secondary two lane road I got it up to 80 mph for a few seconds and there was no vibration (especially in the hood). I should be able to get it out on the freeway in a day or two.

The only thing I noticed is some noise comes into the cabin when you drive over those patch jobs in the pavement (where they seal the cracks in the road). This was one of the things mentioned in a professional Tire Rack Review and I knew that going in.

But the Premier's are still quieter overall than the MXM4's, smoother riding, and the Genesis is now a joy to drive.

I purchased a 2016 3.8 Genesis about 2 months ago. The car has been in the shop 5 times since the day after I brought the car home. The car has had 3 different sets of Michelin MXM4's and they also tried swapping out the rims. I still have a noticeable vibration at highway speeds. Michelin would not swap the tires to any other brand. I want the Pirelli P7 Plus. The last visit to my local Hyundai service department, a field service rep came out and went over the car, he said the tires were not road forced correctly and he redid them. Still have a vibration.... somewhat better but still noticeable and uncomfortable to drive. I'm currently fighting for different tires and not getting anywhere. I sometimes have a vibration in the seat and other times I don't. I always seem to have a "shimmy" in the steering wheel at speeds above 70mph...
I love the Genesis, but I'm getting to the point where I'm going to trade the car in if it doesn't get fixed by swapping to different tires.

Have you had the car on the interstate since you had the Premier's put on? If so, how did it drive?
