Just stumbled across your post. I bought my car used and it appears that someone broke the fiber optic connector previously. The dealership has since glued together the plastic area surrounding the fiber optic cable making it impossible to connect the VIM harness. Can I purchase another harness from Hyundai? If so, do you have a part number? Would it be too hard to replace? Thanks.

I don't think they sell the just the connector for the fiber optic connector. You probably have to buy the whole harness under the dash which could cost over 1k.

I just got mine installed this past weekend.. $400 after labor and unit.. Best $400 i have spent.. Kids and wife love it!

Here in Fort Worth Texas.. The Nav website gave me a place near me that can install it.. Paid $299 for the part and $100 for labor.. Took them about 1.5 hours

yea, if you read my posts, It took ME at least that long. If you have no mechanical inclinations, and don't have the penache to try it yourself, then it's $100 well spent. LOL. It was a BEAR stuffin' in back inside that cramped space.

Thanks for the info. I was quoted $2432 for the harness. I managed to undo the fiber optic connector held with super glue. Up and running. My daughter loves it.

Nice = ) I want to do this on my car as well, but it costs too much for my taste. If there was a way to change some settings in the car to make this happen.....

I've seen bypass work with the PAC TR-7 unit-$21.49 on Amazon and there are many videos using a generic five pin relay that can be purchased for $5-$9. These seem to work on a variety of units. Maybe it would work on the Genesis.

Would there be people interested in buying a plug-n-play video in motion kit if it costed about ~$250, which is about $100 less than competitor's? Please raise your hands if you would buy one if it costed ~$250. I might be able to make a pnp kit for $250.

On their website, it still states $350 for the 2013 genesis. $300 kit is for the 2012 genesis. The lowest price I can provide to you guys would be $250 for the 2013 genesis. Please let me know if any 2013 genesis are interested.

The connector back of the DIS unit is different. You don't have to worry about taking out the fiber-optics cable like the 2012 and also 2013 have a DIS II where as in 2012 DIS I; it is a whole different system.

I have had it installed in my car for about 8 months now and to be honest it was a big waste of money. I dont watch tv on the go and my wife thought it would be cool for her in the passenger seat but because of the angle og the screen and there being no hood over it like in the BMW you cant see it during the daytime.

I wonder if something like this could be used to get something other then the DVD to display on the Screen. Say an APPLETV (and a wireless network)...

Then I could run apps on my iphone and mirror the output of the Waze app on that great screen.

Will be even more interesting once apple releases their car integration... Perhaps a 3rd party could make something like this happen

center console analog jack allows video as well, so you just need a 3-wire adapter and it will work. I verified it with a few parts I have laying around...

Interesting! But can it be shown while driving? Worth exploring... My dream is to mirror my iPhone or ipad display onto that gorgeous but under utilized display. Waze is way better then built in GPS app for starters
