  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have 2009 Genesis V6. I live in the South, is it necessary to let the engine warm up before I drive?

Absolutely. I warm mine about the time it takes me to buckle the seatbelt, then I keep the speed under 25 until I get to the intersection.

There is always some residual oil after the engine is shut down and it takes just seconds to get pressure once running.

In case Ed's answer wasn't clear, the answer is "No."

Once the car has come out of high-idle (about as long as EdP takes to buckle his belt), it will be fine for easy driving. Keep the RPM under 4k until the coolant temp needle moves off the stop.

I live in the Mid Atlantic so temps range from 15 F to 100 F. My car rolls out the garage and my buckle is clicked by the time I get to the end of the driveway which is about 35 feet. I have a few streets in the neighborhood that are 25 mph. Then it’s main roads. Like Gunkk stated, I drive normally until the temp needle moves.
