  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Warranty work out of 'Dealership' area

Here’s the response from Genesis:

Thank you for contacting Genesis Motor America. We appreciate the opportunity to address your concern with using a service valet after purchasing a G70.

We did speak with Hyundai of Longview directly, and the reason they are unable to bring a loaner across state lines is due to their insurance provider. However, there have been instances when a Genesis client was out of state lines and they were able arrange a vehicle for use through Enterprise at our cost.

Only selected Genesis retailers signed on new Genesis franchise agreements will receive the all-new 2019 G70. Additionally, only these dealers will receive 2019 G80 and G90 vehicles. No current Hyundai dealers will receive any 2019 or later Genesis brand vehicles.

Re-defining the future Genesis Retail Network is a complex process we must work through state-by-state as we acquire our Genesis Distributor Licenses. All existing US Hyundai dealers will be given the opportunity to decide whether to accept a generous separation offer and no longer sell Genesis vehicles OR sign a new Genesis Retailer Sales & Service Agreement to become a new Genesis retailer. Because we're still very much in the midst of this process, it's impossible at this point to know the full composition of the future Genesis Retail Network.

The website will be updated with the build and price option as the G70 becomes more available. We here at Genesis Customer Care (GCC) do not have the actual date of when this will happen. We (GCC) have not been informed of when any particular retailer will be receiving G70 inventory. We can say that the list of active Genesis retailers that have signed the new 2019 franchise agreements grows weekly.

Again, we wish to assure you that our clients' satisfaction is our top priority at Genesis Motor America, and that we are doing what we can to best assist you in this situation. We appreciate your patience in the matter.

Thank you again for contacting Genesis Motor America and for being a valued member of our Genesis family.

Respectfully,

Genesis Customer Care

That is good they looked into it and got back to you. I think that makes sense regarding the insurance. Maybe just have it put into writing at the time of the sale that they will provide a rental car or loaner, both without charge. They may not agree to that but it doesn't hurt to try.

Went on my second drive, I'm ready to pull the trigger on a 3.3 Dynamic. Still have to fiddle faddle with the seats a bit but I'm satisfied I'll find a good spot that still allows for room behind my seat. Also their valet service covers my main issue around complete failure warranty work. They'll pay up to 1000$ Canadian for loss of use that occurs beyond 100kms of your home. So I may at some point get stuck with a ferry ride back but that will be rare if at all and I can deal with that later.

I'll post it again in the buying section but my rep updated me that in November the lease rate dropped from 1.9 to 1.4 and the Dynamic incentive went from 750 to 1000$. Not huge but I'll have $11 a month or so I think so that's great.

I'll post once it's completed.

Another factor to consider, as they mentioned, is that this dealership may not even end up a new Genesis dealer. If my area didn't get one (has not had one despite being larger than Longview), it would be a problem.

Let's step back a little. If you are buying from them then it wouldn't matter if they are a future Genesis dealer since you would be buying 2018 and they would service it. If you are planning on getting a 2019 then the point is moot as they would not be selling them if they weren't a dealer. Am I missing something in the situation?

The 2.0 Turbo engine is just perfect for my needs. I don’t tow anything and don’t haul much except for groceries and gardening supplies. But seriously, the turbo is up to any situation that I find myself in.

It’s my second Santa Fe, having owned a ‘14 SF Sport also with the 2.0 Turbo. I passed that vehicle on to my Son, as has been my practice over the years. It always gives me a good excuse for buying a new car and it saves my Son a lot of money and puts his family into a solid car. His latest gift also comes with a nice extended warranty.
Do you not find the turbo lag and the transmission programming a bit laggy?
When I drove one, the transmission was slow to shift from a complete stop which made the turbo lag feel worse. But other than that, it was the perfect 2 row SUV!

I feel the 2019 Santa Fe was a bit unenthused myself. It moved if you have it the boot but the older SF I've driven felt better. I compare it to my 2013 SF Sport with it's original motor and it was quite sprinty and my dad's 2014 which feels like a different vehicle all together. It was one of the earliest to have an issue with the 2.0 Motor that caused a recall some 4 years later and it had a cylinder get lunched from some debris in the engine and the motor was swapped out (you see where my interest in the repair scenario comes in). The motor and programming that came with the replacement was never as good as that initial setup was.

No.

The stop/start feature does take some getting used to. Maybe that’s what bothered you. Fortunately, it can be turned off if you want to do any stoplight racing. Otherwise, that feature is very well executed.

Some other notes on the stop start. I believe if you shut it off and then say flip to sport and flip back the comfort or eco setting will turn it back on, I seem to recall that behavior. Also I was a bit (just a bit) disappointed it isn't present on the 3.3 dynamic model, at least in Canada. Be a nice way to save a bit of fuel on that bit thirstier engine.

When we test drove the 2.0T Elite both my wife and I found it to be very smooth, she even remarked on how much rougher the C300's start/stop was in comparison to the G70. Of the cars we ran that had it, she liked the G70 implementation the best.

Wait until you see what the coverage is like in the US. Even though they increased the number of dealers from their original plan, there will be quite a few areas with no local dealers at all. The five nearest ones to me have decided not to go with Genesis so the closest will be 1.5 hours away.
I'm in this predicament if I end up even going with a genesis at all now.
