After waiting for more than two months and working with my dealer, regional, and national reps I threw in the towel finally in my hopes of getting a sterling blue/cashmere 4.6 Genesis w/tech pkg. First off they appear to be just after the white in being very rare to come by.
Secondly after getting what I considered a good deal over two months ago
($24,500 difference after trading in my 2006 Azera w/ultimate pkg. with 19,000 miles on it) they would do a dealer trade and trailer in what I wanted out to a maximum of 500 miles ( I live in Iowa). After that it would cost me extra.
After I and everyone I mentioned searched daily there was alway a catch when we thought we had found one. We found a few sterling blue ones but with black interior. Or I think in all that time we found a few just like we wanted but was on either the east or west coast. Trailering a traded car out to them and then what I wanted trailered back was going to run me another $800.00. I should add that there were V-6 versions out there though.
But then here is the real thing that is upsetting.... after any Hyundai dealer will tell you if they don't have the right color, options pkg, that you want to not worry they can get you what you want by doing dealer trades. In my case my dealer had to have a 4.6 Genesis w/tech pkg. in order to be eligible to then look for a trade for what I wanted which he had.
I have no complaints with my dealership at all. I know the Hyundai sales manager quite well and consider him and my salesman friends and have bought several cars from them. They are just the best.......thats all I can come up with for a description. They worked so very hard for me to try and find what I wanted.
Here is the upsetting part! In that time they located one in Indiana, two in Kentucky, and one I think in Missouri. Each of those dealers would not even consider trading with them!!! I thought gosh here they all promise you this is how it works to make the customer happy by supplying them what they want.
So your fate is in the hands of a bunch of drealers out there who evidently can't get along and work together for us Hyundai customers. The funny thing is a couple of those cars sat on their lots unsold for 2-3 weeks. One is still unsold and has been there for about a month and a few days now.
That is the long part of my story. Yesterday my salesman called me and said we just got a 4.6 Genesis off the transport. It was one of the other colors that you said that you liked in the beginning (titanium gray). He said would you like to at least come take a look at it? He said if you want it fine.............if not we have another one now to offer for a dealer trade. Either way no one is going to touch it until after you have taken a look at it.
Well I drove up there and really liked how the the chrome showed out against the gray. The other one that they had was the platinum silver color.
The neat thing about both the gray and silver is the metallic flakes sparkle brighter than any other car surface I can think of. But I liked the fact that the chrome showed out more with the gray than the silver.
I have never really been a fan of dark interiors but the Genesis kind of breaks it up a bit with the wood grain parts, chrome pieces, and the dark brown leather insert on the dash. I always thought black interiors were kind of drab and dreary. I have always liked beige interiors to lighten things up.
But it is harder to keep clean.
So the story goes I came home with the titanium gray/black with tech pkg. last night in the dark unloaded right off of the transport but of course prepped by the dealer. I'll have to write more about the car later. But I found the wide area of lighting from left to right in front of the car by the headlights nice due to all the deer we have in our area! I played with the stereo all the way home and its awesome!
I pretty much babied it home which was about 70 miles. I did have to pull on to one highway busy as heck with Thanksgving traffic I suppose. I found a spot finally and I didn't but step down just a quarter throttle I suppose and my god did it throw me back into my seat!! I smiled pretty big I suppose.
Well I know this was a long write up.............hopefully some will enjoy it and also some may have shared my dissapointment in dealer trading. All I know is I finally got me a Genesis ya hooo!!!!
