If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What accessories have you put on your Genesis

Several people mentioned that they replaced the original wheel caps. How do you take off the caps?

I am a proud new owner of a 2009 Genesis Crystal white with almond leather and Tech package. I really enjoy driving this superb car in which a lot of design thoughts have gone in.
I have fixes the wings in front and back. My dealer showed the new wheel cap with wings and wants $ 220 for all four including tax. Could I get it cheaper anywhere as my Mercedes caps cost less.

Try E-bay.

There is a small slot on the edge of the cap - stick in a screwdriver and pry gently: the cap will pop right off with no damage to it or the wheel.

2009 Titanium Grey 4.6 w/tech. pkg

Genesis Logo Wheel Caps
Genesis emblem on trunk lid
Genesis emblem on steering wheel
Replaced all bulbs with LED's(courtesy lights, glove box, trunk, license plate, vanity lights, etc.)
Genesis emblem license plate bolts
Tinted windows
Replaced original tires (Dunlops) with Continental Extreme Contact DWS --- better ride and quieter.

Since the Hyundai emblems have been replaced, I routinely get asked "Who makes this car?"

Tinted the windows. Dealer not only gave me a great deal off sticker but they delivered the car with the wing kit installed at no charge. Planning to swap the upper grill with a non-split mesh. Should look very cool.

Nothing special now. But it's coming. :D

I did these myself for $14.99 + $7.99 shipping and about 15 minutes per wheel

Could you please point me to the emblems you used to insert into the wheel caps after removal of the old ones? I assume after you managed to get the original H emblem out (any advice or trick to make this easier?) there was epoxy or something that needed to be dremeled out before applying/epoxying in the new wing emblem?

EDIT: Would this be the ones you ordered? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...=LVI&its=I&otn=2&category=43961#ht_5059wt_941

If what i understand here is correct then the $269 cap deal is a total ripoff. If this works out then I seriously doubt another set will be sold unless the consumer does not read this forum. :D

...yes, there are several listings by the seller at that price. I have a series of photos that I will upload to show how I did it.

Your guess is right on. The caps are held on with 3-M double back adhesive tape. I dremelled a #2 pencil sized hole in the center of the backside of the wheel caps. The center of the winged emblem is "hollow" and has no tape. Just go easy so as to not hit the metal. I then used a hair dryer to heat the back of the wheel cap and used the eraser side of the pencil to firmly push the cap off of the plastic. I heated the front side while pushing. Apply new tape and press onto the V8 wheel cap. I aligned the bottom of the wing with the removal slot as per the Hyundai caps.

Kinda explains why everyone wants your wheel caps up front, or a credit issued when they get your flying H caps back huh?

Well that is just fantastic. Thanks for the time and effort put into your response. I am sure this will be helpful to not only myself but several Genny enthusiasts. Thanks again. ;)

This looks like a simple project.... Thanks for posting pictues as well... even though they are super small!!!!

So after you popped off the flying H all you did was stick on the wing cap and it fit perfectly? Did you have to bend any metal? Did the wing cap come with the 3M tape on the back of it?

Well I got the original H emblems off. Actually it took me 5 mins to do. Heated both the front and back side with a heat gun put on a small piece of electrical tape where the cap meets the inner cap so as to not marr the surface and then pryed up lightly with a small screw driver. Once lifted slightly I was easily able to pull the rest off by hand. Worked very well. :D Now I just have to wait for my new wing emblems to arrive. I understand I need to remove those from the caps they come on also but using the hole and dremel technique to avoid any damage. Then I need to apply new double sided tape to the surface as it will be destroyed after removal and finally just stick them in place on the old emblemless caps.

Now all you people out their who dished out over $270 for the caps, I suggest you mod your original caps and sell them on ebay for $175 :D.

Yes it fit perfectly, no bending of anything, yes the wing cap was attached to the plastic cap with 3-M tape. I used 3-M adhesive remover to clean the mating surfaces before reapplynig new adhesive tape.

Hey Moderators. You should sticky this as it saves a substantial amount of $ and it is very simple to do. Total cost for mod is $22 vs $260 already done on eBay and you are actually getting the identical item. and maybe an hour of your time if you are real slow. :D

Safe to assume this will fit the V8 wheel cap?? I noticed you have the V8:D The listing says for 17" wheels. I just bought some, since the price is stupid low.

Oh, I get it now. After looking at the pictures some more. The wing center cap actually comes on a "cap" that you have to pop off. You will also have to pop off your old flying h as well and stick the new "poped off" wing cap on? Correct?

Slow brain day for me....

Yes the caps with the winged emblem are for 17" wheels Hyundai/Mobis part#: 52960 3M000; the center cap aluminum covers are identical in every respect....the plastic cap center for the 17" wheels have 8 tabs on the back for clipping onto the 17" wheels. I bought a set to "experiment" on because they were so inexpensive. The result is a $200.00+ savings and beautiful results. Other ebay sellers are listing these caps from $69.00 and up.

Yep, that's the way I read it also.;)
