  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been looking all around and am not finding a lot of aftermarket parts for the 2015+ Genesis Sedan. I know the car is rather new so it takes some time for parts to come out. So far I have only been able to find lowering springs and air ride suspension. I recently got a custom Accuair Air Bag with E-Level installed along with some Rotiform SPF wheels. I really am looking for any performance parts that are out there. Here are a few photos of my car so far. If you want more photos check out my Instagram page @Bagged_GenesisSedan.

Mostly cosmetic stuff; very little in the way of performance parts. That said, this thread has some of those cosmetic items cataloged into one place.

Search..... As Aquineas stated, there is a thread that pulls together all of the parts available in one place. As I mentioned when I started that thread - there would be benefit to making that a sticky as these questions get asked frequently.

These are not so new anymore as they have been out and available for purchase since 2014. If you have the 3.8 you have some options for ECU tuning but if you've got the 5.0 you will not find much luck as the 5.0 ECU is currently not tuner friendly and any modifications would not yield any significant results.

This is partially why the Genesis can't shed the old "econo-car" reputation. How many new A6's, E400's, or 5-Series do you see with lowered corners and a bunch of after market jewelry slapped on it? You planning on throwing some subs in the back of that thing too in order to get some extra rattle on it?

It looks like you added the rear spoiler I have seen on ebay. How was the install on it? Do you have any better pics of it?

Wow. Are you sure that you entered your age correctly? This is something an 80 year old would rattle off.

Nah... he just doesn't want to spoil something that already looks great. :)

I see a significant amount of the german cars you mentioned that are modified. We could also throw the Japanese makes in there as well.

TAG motorsports caters almost predominately to those luxury brands.

I guess being an auto enthusiast, and not just a car owner, is a dying state of being.

+1

I tend to think that owners of the german and Japanese cars are much like we are with their desire to improve either the look or performance of their cars with suspension modifications and the like. Seeing as how most modifications are purely subjective one shouldn't be too concerned with what others think. You should modify the car to your liking and taste, not based on what you think others would like. That being said, if you do modify your car and post pictures or ask questions on a public forum you shouldn't get butthurt if someone doesn't like what you've done or are inquiring about.

I modified both my IS-F and my Audi's heavily - more so than I have the genesis.

Mods are generally not my cup of tea but sweeping generalizations like this come from a place of ignorance and should just be ignored.

That being said, I like the grill and was wondering, was this aftermarket or an application to the existing grill?

I highly doubt you see a lot of NEW German vehicles modded. Old ones, yes, because they are picked up and modded by those that cannot afford them new.

That's exactly correct. I'll never understand why people buy the cheapest version of a car and then spend thousands of dollars on cosmetic mods. What is the draw here? Why didn't you spend the extra money to get the V8? Or a better option package that actually makes the car better? At least you'll get some of your money back when you sell the car. But when you slap on after market parts you never get your money back. I get the draw of performance mods, but these lowering springs have to be detrimental to the handling that Lotus worked so hard on.

you cant be serious....... there is an entire industry built around modifying NEW luxury vehicles. I happen to have been involved in it for the last decade.

you are making yourself look quite foolish. Go visit 6speed online, TAG motorsports, BBI, or any of the German car forums. After that go to clublexus.com, look up Targa Trophy, the HRE wheel sponsored events, and the plethora of regional automotive events that unite luxury car owners and tuners for shows and events.

As I said before, there are entire industries, tuners, and communities based on developing performance parts for these platforms....

As Hyundai is a relative new comer to the luxury segment it is not surprising that the mainstream manufacturers have limited or no offerings for the brand, however much like other brands that have shifted their focus over the years (Cadillac and Lexus namely) we undoubtedly will see more options for Genesis owners in the future.

so by your logic people that can afford luxury vehicles do not modify them?

Where are you located BigDave? Omaha, Nebraska?

That's a relatively myopic perspective dave in Omaha.

When you live in a town with only 434,353 people (https://www.google.com/search?q=omaha+population&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8) vs living in a city of 18.55 MILLION (https://www.google.com/search?q=sou...-8&oe=utf-8#safe=off&q=los+angeles+population), you're really not going to find a need for customizing your car since there are probably <50 cars on the road at one time. I especially doubt there is a large car culture there, with a much less demand and understanding of customizing.

There is probably only a handful of BMW, Mercedes, and Audis there as well so they uphold their reputation for being "special" and are not to be touched because of their "superior design", but around here they are a dime a dozen and unfortunately, despite what you believe, a huge number of them are customized and I assure you, are not "base model".

After all, this is Southern California.
