  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do to the Gennie today?

I brought her in for some new fog light housings, both had a bunch of condensation behind them. They covered the replacement under warranty which was a nice surprise as each housing runs around $190-200. Since they were covering that I bought some really nice PIAA H8's to replace the stock bulbs along with some D1S's and H7's. The D1S's are Sylvania 5000k and the H7's are GE Nighthawks. I'll take her out one evening this week and take some pictures to post. The bulbs are all incredibly brighter than the stock ones and look great plus the visible light distance has increased at least 50'+ down the road providing greater edge illumination especially to the right side.

I'm hoping the new Genny has a much brighter lighting solution, one of my chief complaints with this car has always been the feeling that the lights didn't reach out far enough for being HID's and they are a royal pain in the @ssterick to adjust with an easily damaged mechanism. The NHSTA really needs to get with the program on lighting distance requirements and technology to make it safer to drive especially during the evening hours. There is no reason why our headlights can't reach 400' or more down the road and not blind oncoming drivers, other countries are doing it. I remember my old 1986 T-Bird had automatic high beams and nobody ever flashed me for having them on as the sensor was decent even for a car made 25 years ago.

The lighting on my -13 Genny loaner is way below what the lights are on my -10 Genny 4.6L w/Tech. Not sure which upgrade is necessary to get the HID lights, but, there is a huge difference between the base Genny and the -10 w/Tech and 4.6L. Can hardly wait to get MINE back!!

First week of ownership.

Did my first "grown up" car wash yesterday (aka not just slopping a bunch of dish soap in a bucket and using whatever crusty sponge I had lying around) which made my wife roll her eyes at all the buckets and equipment I had to purchase. She got into it by the end though and the finished result was worth it.

The USPS guy delivered my box full of goodies today, so I replaced the flying H on the trunk with the wings and swapped the center wheel caps with the wings.

My fingers have permanent grooves in them from the fishing line, but the ride looks great.

Rec'd my trunk lip spoiler from Carid today. Took about 20 min to put on and that included preparing the surface. So far, chrome door post, winged all around, and thinking about the roof spoiler. My wife lets me drive it and boy is she in love with it. Will have updated pictures as soon as it cools down some in Southern CA.

Got mine back from the shop (again). I'm hopeful and believe that I'll get to keep it for a while now after having it in the shop for the 5th time in 5 weeks. I'm so glad to be in my own ride for the long haul. Now I can put my own stuff in it and not worry about having to swap it out again. Now time to put my "wings" on the steering wheel. If it's too ugly by putting the wings over the flying "H", I'll take it off and one day get the airbag cover with the wings already on it.
Plans for the weekend include cleaning the windows as my dealership just doesn't do a very good job on getting windows really clean!
Anybody ever use Bar Keeper Friends cleaner for the outside of the glass? Or is there a better way? I know that's off topic, but, just including it in this post.

Some initial pics of my new lights as promised, will get some better shots... these were just from my phone and still a little bit of light outside:

Sylvania 5000k D1S
PIAA H8's (Fog-lights) 35w Xtreme White 4150k
GE Nighthawk H7 High Beams
Sylvania 168/194 LEDriving peanut bulbs 6000k

If you ask me they all look about as white as each other even though they all say something different.....looks great compared to stock bulbs.

I modded the useless (to me) ashtray into a very functional coin holder (or whatever). I removed the metal trim ring from the molded plastic part and with my Dremel tool, cut off the snuffer tabs from the metal trim ring. I used a couple cutting discs (they're very fragile) and a grinding bit to do the work. Also replaced the push-in lighter with a USB power outlet I bought on eBay for under a dollar. A lot of wasted space now useful.

The flash of the camera reveals what appear as rough edges, but it's smooth to the touch, and looks perfect when blinding light is not on it.

Very good ideal, for non-smokers it becomes useful and functional

Wondering if you would be able to grab some night shots to see the light output? Thanks

Finally got my emblems in. Also added the BH380 and removed "Genesis" Now trying to decide on wheels.

What spoiler is this? Looks great. Been debating on the bh380. I really wanna save up for unavi though.

What, you haven't replaced the H badge yet?

Indeed it is.. I follow the TechMoan guy frequently. he does some very nice and indepth reviews.

Please start a thread in the appropriate area so that we can chat about it. It looks interesting. Folks would probably like to know how you have it mounted and wired. The price certainly looks right.

I'll try to do that in the next night or two weather permitting, we have been getting storms at odd hours for the last week now. The light output has greatly increased and it's a very clean white light. My fog lights that I had in there prior to these looked great but weren't really functional from a light standpoint, now you can actually see them filling the gap between where the HID's make contact with the road.
