  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Btw. My old wheels are FS in Maryland. DM for more details.

Changed the oil and filter for the first time at home. Got tired of dealer and other oil change places leaving undercarriage shield bolts loose or missing. I found 5 of the 10mm bolts broken off. It was not to bad with the right tools. I drilled and re-tapped the broken bolts. Good as new!!

I installed the factory doors for the easier oil changes. If you plan on keeping the car install the doors for drain plug and oil filter.
You will be so happy you did.

You can buy just the doors. You also can buy new panels and doors .
Just buying the doors can save you quite a bit of$$.
I dont have the door part numbers, however you can find them on this site.

The door kit is new to me - post a link?

Damn!!! Hyundai really got the styling right on this car. The right set of wheels like the one you just put on just set it off perfectly.

Looks good!!!

No under body cover oil filter door kit available to my knowledge. The poster was just asking if a kit exist.

There are only two options to gain oil filter and drain access panels on a 2015 or 2016 model: (1)install complete 2017 or newer under body panels on a 2015 or 2016 model. (2) modify the 2015 or 2016 under-body covers by cutting holes in them and retrofitting the 2017+ access panels to them.

Hey my underpanel finally gave way and started to drag. I got the part numbers for the updated front and rear ones with the access panels off of your signature. I must've read somewhere that you need to replace a bracket for the rear panel. Do you have the part number for that? Is it riveted on there?

I did not need any new brackets. The newer style covers fit in the same location as the old style panels.

However, I did purchased new 2017+ brackets, but they was the same as the 2015 brackets. Waste of money. I only needed a couple of plastic trim pop rivets since the old covers used one pop rivet to mate the front and rear covers; while the newer style used two pop rivets.

There is some workarounds available online to get a cheap GDS to work with the 2.30 firmware
Could you provide a link to this workaround please?
I am very much interested in getting this cheap chinese VCI to work on a newer genesis like my GV80.
Thanks!

Type GDS VCI in the search engine. You will get many links with information on the topic. I personally did not trust the downloads that many of the sites mentioned as a solution.

Are you referring to this forum where they recommend to copy and replace VCI.bin file in c:\gvci\bin\vci with the one they posted (Fw 2.30 VCI.rar)?
On the same thread, somebody asked if 2020 cars are supported with this update and their response was a 'no'.
If you are referring to something different than this, I would like to learn more.
Searching for 'GDS VCI' is kind of generic and does not yield any result regarding any workaround.

I have a 2015 model Genesis; so I would not know about newer model compatibility with the VCI units. I have since purchased a Xtool D8 scan tool that is supposed to be able to program modules on many make of cars including Hyundai. I gave up on the cheap GDS knock off software and VCI units.

We clean our cars every week (we have two 2023 GV70 Sport Prestige), but haven't done much in the way of accessories. Didn't much like the OEM all weather floor mats (they just seemed cheap, to me), so we did buy better quality all weather mats. Considered WeatherTech, but chose SmartLiner, which are absolutely fantastic and less expensive than WeatherTech.

Quite a bit has happened since January. I was sidewiped January 12 by a Lexus, luckily insurance favored me due to my video evidence. I had to have the Front and Rear doors replaced as well as the Rear Quarter Panel needing to be rolled out. I think they did a fantastic job and even redid the pinstripe. Because of this, I needed the passenger side redone, which I had my local Hyundai dealership complete in July when I had my charcoal canister replaced. Today, I replaced my shift boot and knob due to the worsening of the rip that's been there since I got the car - surprisingly easy job that one is. Next on the agenda is replacing my front fender liners due to holes forming on both from apparent rubbing with tires. Just can't afford the $160 per liner right now.

Nice work getting the body work done after the accident. I'm surprised your fender liners are rubbing holes by the stock 18 inch wheels and tires.
