Bit late on the post, but I was without internet at the cabin and tenting for the past week and a bit with the new car. So here's what I've done with the car the past week.
Got the new
badges in the mail and stuck those on. Looks a lot more uniform now with all the same
badges on. Thanks to the forums for offering them in a simple to get place!
Then I proceeded to follow the 15th Annual Newfoundland Targa Ashpalt Rally around the island! Was a super fun week, met a lot of people from all over the world and the country, as well as a few participating from home. For anyone unfamiliar with the event; it consists of over 1600 km of driving and over 440 km of closed road rally racing completed over a 7 day period. This takes place across the entire Avalon Peninsula. This year there were 54 competitors in various racing and non-competitive divisions. Its quite an experience to be on the edge of a road with Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches coming at you doing over 200 km/h on local bumpy, twisty roads; or standing on a cliff-side watching the built Subaru, Audi and Mitsubishi race-cars wind down the closed road courses. Of course I took advantage of this occasion to drive some of the closed roads myself before and after the events as the pace-cars passed by

. The Genesis is quite capable, even in V6 variation, when pushed even just moderately. The brakes are phenomenal for such a large car, it really can stop pretty much on a dime. Glad I got out to the event and got a little bit of driving in myself.

Also had the girlfriends Honda Fit out on a couple of the courses, and god is that car fun to drive. The difference between the 2014 down and the 2015 - present Fit is actually night and day with regards to overall driving dynamics and performance, as well as creature comforts and styling. I actually like her current car, as where the old one she had was - being nice here - absolutely dull, and boring.
Anyway, that was my week. Went camping in Terra Nova National Park after the event for a couple nights and did a bit of hiking on some of the islands trails within the park. Beautiful trails, and beautiful scenery at the end of every one. Overall a great week/weekend with some fantastic people and moments.
I may post some pics in the near future if I can figure out how to downsize the massive photos my phone takes. Hahaha. The photos are all in Super-HD at over 2k resolution, so they're a little large for the forums.
