  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

Thanks to a member on the forums with a new switch, I switched it hoping to get rid of that issue with the auto light shut off issue.

IMG_2150[1].webp I put winter tires on my OEM 2015 Genesis wheels prior to winter, knowing I would need new wheels and tires in the spring. A new tire/wheel/TPMS set-up was costing over $2k, so I purchased G90 wheels (new takeoffs) on Ebay for much less. I wasn't 100% sure they would fit on my 3.8L with the new wheels being staggered, but I was fairly confident.... So G90 wheels do fit on a 2015 Genesis!

Damn! Looks great!

Bought some cheap matte black vinyl wrap and did my grille surround. Not perfect, but I like the look and will eventually have a pro redo it... :)

Took some time and cleaned the exhaust tips yesterday. Back when I have my '15 Sonata, I was never sure why the tips were so dirty. When I say dirty, I mean caked with carbon deposits. It looks even worse when the blackness isn't spread evenly on the exhaust tip.

I cleaned my previous G35 and those looked new afterwards. The Genesis wasn't as bad as the Sonata or the G35 but I figured I would since I had the time.

What I used:
- Windex
- Steel wool (three pack)
- Latex gloves
- Paper towels
- Metal polisher
- Painters tape

Came out excellent with some patience with the polishing part. I'm too much of a "neat freak" to do this in 5 minutes so it took about 45 min. Doing it your first time, depending on how bad the tips are, it's about a 45 min - 1 hour job. Not bad and does wonders for a part of the car that often gets overlooked.

First picture is before and the two others are after.

Re: Uniq Performance Rigid Collars

RC Autoworks installed rigid collars on my car today....it's the same shop that lowered my 5.0 last year. Awesome and fast work!

If any of you guys looking for a Shop in Chicagoland to install springs, collar, etc. in your Genesis sedan/Coupe, search no more.... RC Autowork in Bridgeview will do that for ya!

Here is their FB Page RCautoworks or call them at (708) 599-5884 tell them I sent you! :smoking:

Hello Dareck, few questions about your or anyone with the similar setup and the shop.

I have been reading up on this thread and got most of my questions answered. I have recently purchased 2015 CPO Genesis Ultimate v6 3.8 just got tints on it. I am planning to get ARK Performance GT-S on my stock wheels. I have few questions before making the final purchase.

Thank you in advance for your help.

1) The shop quoted $350 with alignment for installation. (Omega Auto Service) if you have been going to RC Autoworks and trust their work then I would rather go there since I have never been to Omega. Also if you can share your prices for lowering as well as the rigid collar installation. Thanks

2) Any loss of features like drive assist like Lane departure warning & lane keep assist or any other features?
3) Loss of performance for GT-S over the time?
4) Anything I should be looking out for?
5) Any rubbing for v6 on stock wheels?

I know lots of questions at once but this will be the first car that I will be modding. Appreciate everyone's help.

Hi there....
1) $350 for installing the springs plus alignment is pretty reasonable price. Iirc, I paid like $240 and ~80 dollars for 4 way alignment at "Just Tires" (they are good at it, they do that for living)
Seems that Omega Auto Service have a good review online so, go with them. Definitely closer to you home, though.
2) Nope. Everything works.
3) As you probably know, I have had GT-S springs for short period of time and I didn't like the front end, it did bottom up few time, the "play" is very limited as it's lowered by ~1.7 inch (that's a lot!) it was dangerous to drive on them, imho.
GT-F's on other hands are perfect. If I get the G80 Sport, I'll lower it on Ark GT-F springs.
4) Not sure what you have in mind, lol .....lowering you car, won't make it faster :D
5) I have the V8 and GT-F don't rub at all, stock or aftermarket wheels.

As for rigid collar - don't bother. Save your money. I really don't see any difference in handling. The 2nd. generation Genesis has much more "tighter" suspension than 1st generation. I know, I had a '13 5.0 Rspec sedan.

I have v6 and not planning to get new wheels so GT-S should be fine right? Would you get coilovers over the springs? I ask because while doing the research everyone recommended it over the springs since it will not cause any damage.

I'm happy with GT-F springs, really. Would I want to spend another ~1k on the suspension? probably not. I don't think that any (not many choices out there) coilovers would be worth it to upgrade over lowering springs.
If you're near Romeoville/Bolingbrook/Plainfield area tomorrow, we could meet up and I would let you drive in my car, so you could see how it rides on those springs.

I would love to test drive it but I work in downtown so unfortunately, it won't be possible. Again thank you so much for offering it. So my dilemma is that currently, I have a budget for springs but I just don't want any issues down the road as I plan to keep this car for next 5 years. I guess that's my only reason I look at coilovers from Megan which are $750 vs Ark GT-S $280.

I'll be in Barrington next Saturday taking pictures of cars, there will be a car show in the morning, called "Super Cars Saturday", you can meet me there if you have time.

Hey Appdroid,

Wasn't sure if you already purchased your springs yet but I have a set of barely used GT-S , I have posted on the for sale forum, let me know if you are interested, think I have it for $225 shipped but I can entertain offers since no use for me but taking up space in my garage lol.

thanks
