  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

The tune is amazing definitely worth every penny. I decided to go with the btr canned tune after multiple falied attempts to get an appointment set up at alphaspeed norcal and KHAR tuning down south. I don't have many options since I'm in Central Cali. The throttle response is definitely the first thing you notice, it actually feels like you're controlling the throttle. The power curve isa big difference to when the car pulls it keeps pulling even to 6k rpms. Even if you don't opt for pops and bangs you still hear some when letting off the gas sounds amazing.
It appears that you like to go fast! You really should think about 5.0 Genesis! Fast without mods!! She will cruise at 120 effortlessly. 💪

That's why I always go for the most powerful engine available in a particular car. The 5.0 makes it the total package. I used to like tinkering with my rides, but that ship has sailed.

How true that is! For me , I love the Genesis and everything about it. But the 5.0 is definitely what takes the car to a different level. And like you skipgen, that Ship has sailed , I am too old and just don't have the time or energy to put into changing shit up. Especially when these cars are kick ass from the factory. I also turned into , its not broke don't fix it kind of guy!🙂

The Genesis looks good mine needs a wash as well, it's hard keeping her clean living in the middle of rasin fields. I'd be lying if I said the v6 was my first choice I wanted to v8 but they're not easy to come by out here. I had no intention of modding this one since my red genny Bk1 2.0 is waiting for a new turbo. Old habits die hard though after the exhaust and tune the car felt so much better I figured the intake would help with acceleration which it did. All I have left is to have a custom down pipe made 2 1/4 to match the rest of the exhaust cat delete with resonators in place to keep the noise down.

Oh I get it Joseg7955 ! Old habits do die hard. Out here in SD its very hard to keep a clean car! I am fortunate enough not to need the car for other than a night out. And You are totally correct, I had to fly out to Chicago to get my 5.0 after 6 months of looking. I lucked out CPO. With 28k. Good luck to you, and I appreciate your enthusiasm!👍 Its nice to talk with other car/ Genesis enthusiasts.

That ought to help with wind-resistance for high-speed runs!
For sure !!🙂 I never owned a vehicle that drove so nice at 120mph ! Out here in the Midwest you dont see these cars. People stare and stare trying to figure out what it is and who makes it.!!!! Love My Freaking Genny!!

I think about 120 is as fast as I went when I had my 5.0, and that was only in short spurts. It is refreshing though how effortless it climbs to triple digits.

It really is effortless! I wake up early on Sunday Morning just so I can run her like that. I totally respect the other folks on the road. !👍

Nothing major my dash mat just arrived today. Fits great cut outs for a/c in the right spots. I picked this one because it covers the speakers as well.

And i thought my mileage was high.. damn

High mileage and still running strong lol I do a lot of driving out to San Jose, San Francisco and anywhere up north with nice scenery. My Bk1 is right around the corner of 150k half of that has been running sfr 20lb tune still runs good as well.

- factory spark plugs swapped out for ngk ruthenium plugs

Nice to see more people moding the V6 and posting without shame. For whatever reason not everyone wants the V8, they just need a little more performance of what they got. Even if I had gotten the V8, I would still be modifying it, cause my ship is still sailing at 56, and hopefully doesn't find shore any time soon 🤣 But realistically, if you really want to flex some muscle, the V6TT with a simple tune is the way to go!..but then again, not everyone wants a turbo car.

I've got the same ngk ruthenium plugs but haven't installed them yet. How are you liking them? and how many miles you have that you changed them?

Would love to see a video of your car to hear the exhaust and maybe some time runs??
Either way, keep us posted and welcome to the club!

Jeez oh man 96deg I see? Now I see why you need a dash mat. These cars or any cars for that matter don't like the Sun! My Genny sits in a pitch black Garage.

I wouldn't say that I'm too old - but I'm definitely too lazy...

Thank you Im glad to finally join instead of just lurking. The plugs work very well don't really notice the difference just some piece of mind using better plugs. I'm going on 10 k with plugs. I'll get around to posting a video this weekend.

Today I changed out a bad LED map light bulb in the sunroof console. My passenger side light would flicker on and off when the door is opened or whenever the interior lights are on. It was very annoying. I had to buy a Hyundai specific LED bulb to replace it for $12 dollars online. Part number 92879 B1010.

I did not waste time taking pics on this job. It very easy, however the sunroof console with the map-lights is a bit tricky to remove. First you have to remove two Phillip head screws located in the sun-glass holder. Then the tricky part, you have to use two panel clip removers and pry each side at the same time in the area between the sun-glass holder and the map-lights where the metal spring like support clips are located.

If you pry one side at a time; the opposite side clip will just flex and resist which may cause you to break the clip. When you pry both sides at the same time they will just pull out without much resistance. The LED light bulb can be twisted out with a flat-head screwdriver(bulb have a slot on back) lefty loose direction and installed reverse. Installing the console is tricky as well since the section with the screw holes has alignment tabs that must be aligned to the holes in the roof to reinstall the console. Once the tabs line up then the console will snap in place and and can be screwed back down.

Cost me $12, but my map light work again without flickering like a 70's horror movie scene.:)

Note: The LED bulb cost about $24 each at the dealer, however it can be found on Ebay for about $12 dollars where I bought two. I bought an extra for a spare.
NEW GENUINE LED Map Light Lamp Bulb OEM For 2014-2018 Hyundai Genesis 92879B1010 | eBay

Addition information: Here is how my old stock LED bulb look just in case the Ebay link goes away. They have two small connectors on top that make a connection when the bulb is rotated in place in the socket. The back has slot for using a flathead screwdriver to remove/install it. Pretty neat design. It may also be repairable by soldering a new LED element onto the board and reusing the housing.
