  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you do with your DH Genesis today?

I’m 20 and it’s the second car I’ve owned! I’ll get tired of it eventually
Make sense now.

In my 20's I put a custom Magnaflow exhaust on a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 XLE and it sounded good as well, but it droned like crazy on the highway. So been there and done that to a normally quiet car in my younger days.:)

Nothing wrong with that!...I'm just getting old
ENJOY IT!!!

Managed to get the navigation (MnSoft) update done this weekend. So that's nice.

Thanks! I had emailed them also, and they told me by mid July, the second time. Their original ETA was 5/18/20. I ordered it through Summit Racing a few days ago and I should have it between July 15-20. It will be shipped directly from AEM.

PASSED EMISSIONS TEST
Took my car in for emissions test yesterday and passed!
Although deleting the 2 secondary cats, I had no problem passing.

Illinois only requires a plugin OBD testing to check for any codes.
No visual inspections or any other monitoring devices are required.
*Other US states may very.

Interesting. Are there O2 sensors on the secondary cats?

No O2 sensors or any wiring on the secondary cats! No check engine light, either!
As you see in the first photo, the 2 little canisters on top, are the secondary cats.
Have only replaced this whole section of the exhaust, so far..

Second photo is what the complete exhaust looks like (except the upper cats with the O2 sensors).
The 5.0 v8 should be very similar.

You are giving me some ideals on how to maybe free up some power without making the exhaust too loud by removing the redundant catalyst convertors and installing an x-pipe that feeds two straight thru mufflers. I just have to design a good exhaust mod that does not drone, which is the hard part.

If you remove the secondary cats and decide to replace the OEM mid muffler/resonator with only an X-pipe in it's place, and just installing 2 straight through perforated mufflers/resonators in the back, you WILL drone! If you install ANY kind of chamber mufflers in the back, you'll be louder and drone even MORE! If you decide not to install any mufflers (straight pipes), you'll be loud as hell, and your ears will be ringing droning sounds in bed at night
I have learned from the past, that by removing the 2 secondary cats on a true dual exhaust, and installing just an X-pipe, you will need 2 pieces of muffling for each exhaust pipe (total of 4), to eliminate or reduce any drone inside the cabin. Alot of guys with newer 5.0 Mustangs install the Magnaflow X-Muffler (like I did) instead of just an X-pipe, to quite the sound and drone.

That's what I have done so far on my car and I get no drone at all with the oem mufflers on any rpm, while cruising. After I install the rear section of the exhaust (2.25" pipes with the Vibrant #1140 Ultra Quiet Resonators, I'll be uploading another vide on YouTube and will make a complete thread, here on the forum..so stay tuned. I will also be replacing the oem V6 rear lower valance panel to the oem V8 5.0's, but with after market dual oval exhaust tips on each side. IMO, exhaust tips will also personalize the final exhaust sound of the whole exhaust system, instead of straight through tip pipes after the mufflers, going to a fake, but prettier exhaust tips. Here are a couple of teaser samples of what I'll be doing back there..

Hello class, today I did a resonator delete X-pipe on the 5.0. Mufflers and cats weren't touched.

The car actually got slightly quieter... The tone is just a bit sweeter with no increase in volume inside or out. In addition, I have acquired a nice burble when I let off the gas.

I tried my best to create some drone to no avail, and the car feels much faster down low. 10/10 would bang.

Finally! The rear section of my exhaust is complete!
The AEM Cold Air Intake is also installed.
Very happy with exhaust install and sound.

**Headphones recommended for video**

You did a good job - not my thing, but it sounds good!

Finally decided to join the forum. I've read lots of helpful advise on the forum and if like to be more involved. Currently working in my 2015 Genesis sedan 3.8.
-added on oem foglights
-universal front bumper lip cut to fit like oem
- mid resonator delete (replaced with H pipe) mufflers removed and installed 2 cherry bomp vortex mufflers
- aem CAI
- factory spark plugs swapped out for ngk ruthenium plugs
-BTR / alphaspeed tune
- 5% tint in the back 35% in the front
My 2010 genny coupe is in the background tuned and a lot of work put I to it.

Looks good! Although I am not too sure about the glass packs??

Do tell what that alpha speed tune does for the car! Thanks

Thank you I forgot to mention the M&S grill. The vortex mufflers aren't actually glass packs they're square straight thru muffler with a single diamond shape chamber in the middle. I made the mistake of putting a glass pack on a car before lol I won't be going down that road again.

The tune is amazing definitely worth every penny. I decided to go with the btr canned tune after multiple falied attempts to get an appointment set up at alphaspeed norcal and KHAR tuning down south. I don't have many options since I'm in Central Cali. The throttle response is definitely the first thing you notice, it actually feels like you're controlling the throttle. The power curve isa big difference to when the car pulls it keeps pulling even to 6k rpms. Even if you don't opt for pops and bangs you still hear some when letting off the gas sounds amazing.
