  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

unless you buy the '18 on a CPO (Certified Pre Owned) deal.
When was the last time anyone bought a CPO 2018? they must be few and far between.

That would be a good poll. No idea.. but I hear from others it's available. But good point - has anyone in here bought a Genesis as a CPO?

That is exactly the right question to ask. Not who has seen one, but who has bought one.

I have seen 2017 and older CPO. But, only a few '18 because they are so few.

I drove the '18 5.0 and it was just "meh" compared to the V6 i drove. Don't forget I have been hyper Milin' in a Chevy Volt for the last 2 1/2 years. The V6 was plenty fast. Lol

Yes, the V8 is powerful but, 95%, I won't use the power. That's one of the reasons I got rid of my '05 Subaru 5spd Legacy GT wagon. I modified it to make 370+whp and it tracked the 1/4mi in the low 12 sec on e85. It was a waste as a DD. Putting around the city at 30 mph. I also have a '08 Solstice GXP turbo and a '64 Grand Prix with 400 CID and Tri-power (3x 2bbl carbs) for fun. I want the G80 for comfort and my first luxury car. That's something 18 yr old me would never believe. But, I'm going to find a '18 V6 Ultimate and pass on the V8. It's will easily be under $30k , get better gas mileage, still under the basic warranty for a couple of years.

Bought a used 2018 Ultimate in 2018 (11K on the clock). Dealership told me Hyundai wouldn't let them CPO the car. Than, I declined the 100k mile $4000 warranty they tried to sell me. ????????????? b

I think it might be wise to contact Genesis and ask them why there is no CPO on the car. Let Genesis be a part of the reputation. I'm guessing it is based on what the car cost the dealership and what you paid for it.

I saw that one. I'm on the fence about'17s they have great prices but no Android auto and 360 camera.

I bought a 16 in August 2019 with 20000 miles. It was CPO plus lifetime power train from dealer.

Wrong forum Travisg. This forum is for new purchases of a Genesis G80.

You didn't buy it new, and it isn't a Genesis G80.

No biggie. A lot of people don't notice/pay attention to the forum headers. You're not the first and certainly won't be the last.

Welcome to the site and congrats on your purchase.

It is a sweet ride. You can learn a lot about it here.

Seems Travis is close enough to qualify to sit at the dinner table. Myself, my 2018 G80 Ult is classified by the State of Washington as a 2018 HYUN G80 and I can't find the word Hyun, Hyundai on the car anywhere, just Genesis.

So CPOs do happen. I wonder if it had anything to do with it being branded a Hyundai or a Genesis?

You would think that any Genesis sold at a Hyundai/Genesis dealer would have a CPO offer. Lexus does it all the time.

Any input would greatly be appreciated. I'm on the fence. Get a '18 G80 5.0 for @$31,00 w/ 12k mi or a new '19 ultimate 3.8 they are advertising $39,999 I think maybe I can get them closer $35,000 because they have 3 with less than 20 mi that have been there for over 260 days So, what are your thoughts. Thanks on advance.

Also, I know the V8 has more power but, how does it handling with the extra weight and will the mileage really that much worse then the V6? This will be my daily driver to replace my Chevy Volt on my 20mi round trip to work.
V8 all the way!💪

Corporate & dealers were fighting about the stand alone Genesis dealerships at the time. I believe the Hyundai dealer I bought the pre owned 2018 from in 2018 was not going to build a separate show room.

That’s not the point. Once you hear G80 you start making certain assumptions about the warranty and other date related issues. Then when a question come up everyone get confused, starts going around in circles and start offering info that doesn’t pertain.
in your case your G80 was in fact a G80 independent of where you bought it Or how the state classified it.

Well the dealership with the New '19 3.8 Ultimate for $39,999.99 would not budge. You would think because they have 4 that have been on the lot over 267 days they would be more flexible. They even added a BS $995 "SWAT security system" on top of the advertised price that they would not remove from the price. Also we were $1900 apart on my trade-in. I texted them a counter offer of take off the "Swat" and split the difference of my trade in about $ 950.

I heard nothing then I thought about it. "What am I doing? My initial plan was to get a used '17 G80 with an sunroof between $20k - $25k. It would be my first Luxury car. I liked the "17 but, Android auto in the '17 Ultimate. So, I wanted the a '18+ and I pushed my budget to $30k. So, why was I working so hard to spend $43k on the '19? I thought the V8 was ok but the performance didn't warrant the extra price in what I was looking for.

After not hearing back it gave me time to think and I pulled the trigger. I bought a '18 G80 5.0 Ultimate from Carvana for $31,900 with 33k and 35 months/ 27k left on the basis warranty. The miles are fine because I only put 17k on my Volt DD that I have taken to Vegas and Palms spring from Los Angeles. I only have a 20 mi round trip commute. It was also the cheapest in the nation when I checked CarGurus, autotrader, etc...

I get it from the vending machine next Saturday that is 15 mi away instead of driving 233mi to Fresno.
Thanks everyone for all the information

That's the Manhattan Brown one but the Carfax says it's black?!?
I almost pulled the trigger on that one about 2 weeks ago but didn't have financing lined up yet as it was a spur of the moment thing. I got approved for Carvana financing at 19%!
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yes, that's the one. The window sticker and the pictures show brown. I ever called them about the color and they said sometimes the person that writes it up makes mistakes. If it's black I may not keep it. I really liked the brown and beige color skim.

Their financing can be high. They gave me 5.9% when I put Down $3k . I took it just to secure the car and after the first payment my CU will give me 2.74%.

It is supposed to be delivered to my house at 11:30am pst today. I'll let you know how it turns out.
