  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your Genesis G80?

I'm currently yanking the chains of several Florida dealers and the best out the door price I've found on a no option G80 is $51,000 otd, but I want $49,900 before I pull the trigger. That $51k includes a $950 dealer fee.

What powertrain is this?

Base, no option no sunroof car- 4 cyl turbo. List msrp around $49125.
I bought the base, no option 2019 RWD G80 in Nov 2019, $37,500 plus TTL. They have gone up.

Understood. So, you want to pay $49.9K for the car with fees plus tax and tags, is that correct. If so, that's reasonable and maybe even a bit generous.

I'm in Florida, too. I paid $58,025 (the MSRP for my car) plus tax and tag only - no fees other than the mandated tire and battery fee. Technically, they charged me a $778 dealer fee and $165 doc fee, but I had them reduce the sale price by those amounts. Here's the breakdown. If you do the math, you'll see they made a $100 mistake, in their favor, that I believe it was a true mistake. When I came back the following day I pointed out the mistake, they checked the math, and said I was right. They refunded me $106.00 ($100 plus 6% tax) without hesitation.

You're offering $775 over MSRP including fees. Not bad for an in-demand car, but you can do better. I have an aversion to paying dealer fees and other bogus add-ons, and never have on any purchase. I was in sales for 40 years before retiring. I appreciate making a living by commission can be difficult. That's why there's a high attrition rate in the profession. I don't look to squeeze every dime out of negotiation, but look for a fair deal. At MSRP, there is a fair margin in the deal and doesn't warrant any of the dealer fees and add-ons that only have value for the dealership.

Good luck with your negotiations.

I'm looking to write a check with a total of $49,900 out the door including tax and tag and anything else they want to write on the paperwork- for a car with a msrp of $49,3xx.

That's a pretty ambitious goal for a brand new model that's in demand, especially when it's only been out a month. You may have to wait a bit for the initial rush to cool down to get that deal. I hope you get it.

Dealer Service fee: $784
Acquisition: $750
TOTAL: 73,433.49

Lease Cash: $2250

Paid first month Lease payment and walked away with it. Plan to do a lease buyout ASAP and finance through my Credit Union.

May not be the best deal ever but for purchase early, and with the no longer available color, combined with the fact my 2018 GT2 Stinger lease was up, I am quite happy.

Waiting on the red one to buy. Never leased before. Is there a minimum amount of time you have to wait to buy? What is your payoff price? May do the same if I can get it.

There is no waiting period once it comes up on the Genesis Finance website. Here is a copy of my buyout screen.

Interesting, $450 buyout fee? Btw, red is tough to find!

Nice to see the MSRP logjam is breaking. On Long Island my closest dealer doesn’t have one G80- even for test drives. 10 miles away , they have 9. My current lease is over in March. Hopefully by then the dealers will be flush and it will be a buyers market.

You should be good in March. You can always extend the lease up to six months.

My dealer says there is no Retail Balloon Cash, just Special Lease Cash, but it is advertised on several car sites. $2250 would be a deal maker.
