If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your new Genesis GV70?

Yeah, I am between the NX350 and the GV70.

I can't quite justify paying nearly $70k when all is said and done for the top trim of the GV70 just to get the HUD and digital cluster. That's crazy.

So, I have been in touch with my Lexus dealer about a custom-ordered NX350. Bad news there is that there are no custom orders being taken and basically, if you want one, you have to take what is manufactured.

So, it's kind of down to whether I can get an NX350 in a few months, or if I will be forced into a nearly $70k Genesis (after taxes, etc.)

There is the 2022 Acura RX, which reviewers like BETTER than the NX350 (more power and better handling) but the tech inside is old. The MX would be the vehicle to get but that closes in on the Genesis price range.
I just got the most expensive non-hybrid luxury version of NX350 with new turbo engine and F-Sport Handling package. I know that I'm overpaying a bit, but at least I got the color schema I like - Atomic Silver with Red interior and there is no market adjustment bs. OTD price is $59,700

Anyone drive the NX350 yet? What do you think?

Are other luxury brands doing market adjustments? Lexus? Audi? BMW?

I've been to 2 BMW dealers (Delray Beach and Coconut Creek) in my area (FL Palm Beach County) and both of them doing market adjustment on certain models of their choice. Some models have it, some don't. I was interested in X3 M40i and it had $5K to MSRP and weirdly enough 540i sedan had no market adjustment.

Fort Lauderdale Rick Case Genesis GV70 Sport Prestige OTD was $72,500 (including taxes and everything, though negotiation was possible)

Went to Lexus (JM Lexus in Margate) for new NX 350 and they gave me MSRP price and no negotiation. Take it or leave it.

I'm having a heck of a time finding a dealer in the Chicago area that doesn't have markups. There's is one dealer that has the exact color and trim (2.5T Select) that I'm looking for and of course, is asking for a 10% markup and won't negotiate over the phone. I did find a dealer in central IL that is willing to order for MSRP but from what I hear Genesis is shipping mostly 3.5Ts to dealers for the foreseeable future.

Don't know how far the Chicago area covers for you, but you might try the one in Madison Wisconsin, Genesis Dealership Madison WI | Fitchburg | Middleton | Zimbrick Genesis

They currently have no inventory of GV70's but were previously selling at MSRP. I haven't found any Genesis GV70's for sale in Wisconsin at MSRP (or lower) for quite a while now. I may end up in the Lexus NX camp if this keeps up for much longer.

Thanks dklanecky! I just confirmed they are selling at MSRP and taking orders. I assumed most of WI was the same as IL given the dealer in Waukesha that has several GV70s on their website listed with $6K markup!

It’s about supply and demand. Sedans are not as popular as SUV’s so no mark up . The more popular the vehicle, the more likely you will see mark up .

You can use the internet to find vehicles all over country . May be worth a road trip or shipping if you find what you want and can save enough.

Anyone have any luck finding MSRP or below in NY/NJ/CT? Trying to get a Grey/White with black interior 2.5 Advanced and Cherry Hill was willing to do MSRP but then added on $2k in warranty and other coverages that could not be waived, and also lowballed my trade in $21k compared to $23.5k from carmax, but I want that tax credit).

For New Jersey, try Genesis of Denville. Bought my GV70 at MSRP over the phone with Nicole Andes on Nov.23 after doing an internet search of nearby dealers in neighboring states as my closest dealer in NY wanted almost 3k over sticker plus low balled me on my trade in. The 2.5T Advanced was scheduled to arrive at the dealership on Dec. 8th which it did. As it was an out of state purchase, all paperwork was done over the phone, fax or internet with Nicole and Sonny Bulak my very helpful salesman who also gave me top dollar on my trade in. Not sure what their current stock is but I saw recently that they had a number of 2.5T vehicles coming in including two Matterhorn white!! There was an unsold Himalayan Gray on the lot when I picked up my vehicle on Dec. 11 but probably gone by now. To check current inventory it's worth a call to Nicole and Sonny. Good luck. The GV70 is awesome.

Thanks for the info! Yeah I live in NY too and these dealerships here are ridiculous. Not willing to bend at month/year end either.

Out of 4 dealerships on the front range of CO, only one had a 3.5 GV70 - and it was sport prestige which I wanted. It was also in Matte Barossa Burgundy, which I fell in love with. Dealer originally wanted $3,500 over MSRP.

It was later disclosed that the transfer case had been replaced shortly after hitting the ground (or looks like it sat for almost 2 months waiting on the part based on Carfax - which just shows generic service at 164 miles, 6 days before I purchased.)

I used this as leverage to get down to MSRP, but also agreed to finance the entire purchase rather than put $5,000 down - interest rate was .3% higher than my preapproval from another bank. They did add in $350 for wheel locks and Genesis branded all weather floor mats - but the mats are pretty sweet (also got the standard ones too) and at least the wheel locks add security/theft deterrence. No other add-ons, but they did add their standard $699 handling fee, which they add to all sales at that dealership.

I had a bad feeling about how things were going to go because of the condition of the Hyundai dealership - looked like it hadn't been updated in 20+ years - but salesman and manager were professional and efficient in negotiations. Honestly, all things considered, it was one of the better car buying experiences I've had - definitely better than my only other new car purchase at a shiny, fancy Toyota dealership - where they hard sold me on add ons, agreed to not add them, only to stuff them back in at financing, causing a big scene when I made them pull them out again.

I'm going to refinance, but will wait 4 months so as not to mess with their kickback - as I felt like we both negotiated in good faith. I do think Genesis should continue to work on enforcing a Genesis dealer brand standard though for appearance sake, as many Hyundai dealerships are tarnishing it by looks alone IMO.

It's a bit strange they didn't want you to put the $5k down, unless it was going to be on a credit card or it was some tactic to do a hard sell push for GAP insurance. Their kickback on $60k versus $65k financed shouldn't have been much different at all.

I did a search on 3.5T GV70s today on Autotrader and there's only 12 of them listed within 300 miles from central NC (both new and used). A dealership in Hickory, NC has a 3.5T Sport Prestige listed around $72k but for some reason it has the smaller wheels installed on it instead of the 21". Rear end is debadged as well. I guess someone did a wheel swap and customizations to their Prestige and then got an offer too good to refuse on selling it.

I thought it was strange too, but I didn't argue. I wasn't using a credit card or anything - we never even got that far. I guess it just simplifies the transaction if they don't have to collect any down payment - plus the small amount of additional kickback for them. They didn't hard sell me on anything in finance. They recommended glass coverage, I said no, and that was it.

did they honor
  • 1.9% APR for 60 months?

Wasn't offered to me, but my credit score is only 740 at the moment - too many 0% offers on credit cards, lol. Plan on refinancing in the spring - will allow them to get their kickback, since it was about as painless as car buying gets.

I would think 740 would qualify you for 1.9 % . That’s a decent score. I would go back and see if you can not get that rate,

I'm financed with Genesis, so would've thought it would be offered if I qualified. Can they mark up their own financing? They didn't want to match 3.6% from my Chase pre-approval. I'm just going to refinance it in a few months, once credit cards are paid down.

740 Is a very good credit score. Most lenders offer you their best rates which Genesis did not do. If it was me I would make a fuss as 1.9 % is still lower than a third party lender .

The only other factor is income to debt ratio. Yours might be hurt by all the O% offers you are using. Don’t blame you on that. It’s still 0% and you can get at least 0.5 % ish from some banks iin a Money Market account .

Dealers do their best to charge as high an interest rate as they can . If Genesis charges 1.9 and you pay 3% that 1.1% is pure profit
