  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What did you pay for your new Genesis GV70?

You see, this is where I am not so smart.

I could put less down, finance more and deal with higher car payments (that I will have to take out of what I was going to put down anyway).

So, if you could better explain a way to do this I would really appreciate that. This is a learning experience for me.
It will be very difficult to find a “guaranteed” return of more than 2% at any financial institution in today’s market. You can put your money in the stock market but that would be sort of gambling wouldn’t it? In answer to your other question about a discount off of MSRP. I ended up with 2k off of a 59k Genesis. Trade ins are very negotiable in this market so u might want to negotiate and see what a dealership will give you over and above your lease buyout.

Could use some assistance here...

I am close to making a decision on a GV70 3.5 Sport Prestige

The MSRP is $64,575. That sticker price is actually almost $2k more than configured on the Genesis site.

I can go to the dealer's website, put in my down payment and financing terms, calculate taxes and get my final price.

I don't mind saying: I am putting $50k down and my payments for 48 months will be in the low 400s. Financing is under 2%

Questions:

1. Is that MSRP negotiable? From what I have been reading, you can't negotiate with Genesis.
2. Is the monthly price that I am given on the dealer's website after down payment and taxes are factored in FINAL? I don't want to go to the dealer and have them stick in all sorts of extra fees. Are all the DMV and other costs factored into that price or am I going to by ponying up another few thousand for them?

3. This was answered above, but I'll get more opinions -- what are the chances that I can stall on the purchase and ask that they throw in mud flaps and an illuminated door sill (retail cost around $550) to seal the deal?

Anything else I should be awareful or mindful of when dealing with pricing?

PS: Looks like fees are included in my final monthly payment. How does the following look to you guys?

You may want to check if ordering through Costco or truecar gets you a better purchase price

Not sure of the source of your cash. Just from my own perspective I can easily make make more than 2% on 50K. So if someone wants to loan me 50K at 1.8% and I make 5% on my own 50K, I come out ahead. If its just sitting in a cash account somewhere earning nothing than I get the large down payment.

Totally agree. 1.9% is almost an interest free loan. Why not sit on the capital?

i like to pay as much as you can up front ,,then have a small payment each month

Making the payments regardless. Just prepaying payments upfront with large down payment. I think that was the point of the post about preserving capital.

If one can earn 1.9% after tax, I agree. I tend to compare to safe investments like GICs (CDs) because the money is equally safe in a down payment.

Also (not a factor right now, not with GV70) but often there's a cashback for cash that isn't there for lease or promo finance. I always calculated it, but now up here they include an "informational rate" which is the effective rate of taking that 0.49% or whatever finance. It's usually about 4%. :( Still often better than a bank loan, but I like the transparency for those who don't know the rules.

I am actually considering using a car broker to assist in buying my Genesis GV70 if I go that route.

I have read countless rave reviews for these broker services. They charge you upwards of $500-$575 (sometimes much less) to broker a deal. However, they usually end up saving you thousands of dollars which makes what you paid them a drop in the bucket.

Especially since I am dealing with a trade-in, I want to get the absolute best price for it. I also see Genesis is charging $4k above MSRP for their Prestige vehicles and if I can at least get it down to sticker price I would be happy.

For someone that has no knowledge on how to negotiate with dealerships in securing a new car with trade-in, I think a broker might be the absolute best way to go. These guys know the inside outs of dealership swindling. Would rather have someone like that on my side rather than go in and do it on my own.

It’s easy to score MSRP if you check with multiple dealers. Call/ go in person and once you find the color combination/configuration, tell them you’re ready to buy the same day if they do MSRP.

Bought one yesterday and they were all (7) marketed up $5k and I got it $2,500 OVER msrp and go straight to a bar and drown my buyers remorse. Never ever imagined paying sticker let alone $ above sticker…I don’t even recognize the guy in the mirror today, but that’s what happens when you see that Brunswick matte green and Vanilla beige for the first time! It was delivered on Friday into the showroom and I bought it the next day. No buyers remorse 😋

I got a bit more on my BMW trade in and they took my offer. I would have loved if it had the Prestige package but I was buying this! So no hud and total virtual speedo which was the only thing I wanted in that package. I asked while they were writing it up how much for that package cost and realized I just saved $5k…yikes!

The only thing I’m worried I’ll be bit$hing about on January 14th when it’s 20 degrees in my garage and I’m hand washing that damn matte finish 🤪

Selling at invoice or above in some markets seems to be new model effect > chip shortage as its availability is better than some competitors.
cars.com reports 849 2022 Genesis GV70 3.5T Sport vs 49 Audi SQ5's (2021's)in the USA for sale.

Has anyone been able to purchase a GV70 at MSRP in the past few weeks?

With all the price gouging going on by Genesis dealers due to chip shortage, I'd be interested to find out.

As far as I'm aware, the dealer I got mine at is still selling at MSRP with no add-ons. I can send you my sales guy's info if you want.

Sure! You can send private message or public. I am here in NJ so I don't know if it's going to help or not. Thank you, nonetheless.

I was able to get a dealer down to MSRP on a Sports Prestige (Red/Black) but it is a demo/test vehicle with 510 miles on it.

I passed. It's bad enough that prices have skyrocketed that getting a vehicle at MSRP is now a great deal, but not when you are getting a vehicle that is not factory fresh that has been driven around by several people.

I just got mine on Saturday! at MSRP no dealer add-on.. got a decent offer for my Trade. excellent service! I purchased a Sports prestige in red with a red interior. It's beautiful!!
The local dealers were asking $5k over MSRP.. the cheapest GV70's in Stock I found locally were $2k over MSRP. I had to drive but I saved money. Went to Moore Genesis in Owensboro KY! They have a beautiful Blue Sports prestige in stock and a white one!

anyone got a deal in TX lately? feel free to PM me if a salesguy is looking for a quick sale. also open to brokers if anyone has recommendations?
