  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Here are a couple shots I took this morning as I was walking back to the car and was struck by the sun reflecting off the paint.
No point in providing a before photos as the car’s paint was barely visible behind the months of road grime that had built up over the winter.
The product used was Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions Ceramic. I’ve been using ‘higher end’ products for a decade, but saw someone do a side by side test of a number of products on a car and this was the clear winner, so I thought I’d give it a try, as I my prior go-to product was not compatible with PPF.
The bottle claims two coats are good for 12 months. We’ll see how it lasts, but I’m quite impressed with the initial shine.
unlike @rickcinyyc, I made sure to get the tires first time around :) - though they may be a little faded here after some driving.

I'm not sure if this is the thread where I'd find the answer, and honestly, I haven't read every page, but has anyone put aftermarket wheels on their GV60? My GV60 is still a year (or more) away, but I have an electric GV70 coming in hopefully July, and I'm not completely sold on the stock 20" wheels.

The whole forum seems unified in its opinion that bigger wheels will negatively impact the EV's range, but my GEM told me its actually the amount of unsprung weight that causes a reduction in the battery's range. The 21" wheel and tire on my gasoline GV70 weights about 72lbs, and I'm going to assume the stock 20" set up on the eGV70 is going to be similar.

So if I found a set of 21s that weighs noticeably less than the stock 20s, is it reasonable to expect little to no impact on the car's range?

Other things affect range as well like tires and their rolling g resistance but I couldn't care less about range as I charge mine once or maybe twice a week if I drove a lot. I am looking at a set of 21x9.5 premium Advan GT's in gloss black

The classic 5-spoke ones? What kind of offset will you be going with?

It seems as if your GEM is trying to unnecessarily split hairs. Unsprung weight will generally increase with larger wheels as the metal used in the wheels is much heavier than the air and rubber in the tires. So (in the case of my 21" OE rims and 18" winters), when I replace 21" of wheel and 8 inches of tire with 18" of wheel and 11" of tire, I'm naturally going to save weight.
As someone that just swapped the wheels this past weekend and lifted them up & down from a tire rack in my garage, I can tell you that the weight difference is striking.

Totally understand where you're coming from. But from my experience, OEM wheels tend to be heavy, really heavy. I had a spare set of factory wheels for my TTRS that were only 19" x 8" that were used for winter duty and they weighed (just the wheels alone) almost as much as a set of aftermarket BBS 19" x 9.5" CHR WITH summer tires. It was quite a big difference. Not sure how much Vossen HF-5s weigh. Gotta find out.

Thanks!

As others have mentioned there are more factors than just weight involved. That said at least in urban drive cycles wheel weight or the energy to overcome rotational mass is probably your biggest factor affecting efficiency. I won't be as big of a deal on the highway.

I finally got some decent temperatures above 10C and no snow in my area and I am impressively seeing 5.6 km/Kw on my 18 inch snow tires/rims. I am pretty sure once I swap over to my 21 inches oem wheels next week I am going to see a plummet in efficiency. My Ionic 5's 20 inch wheels/rims weighed around 63 lbs and if I saw 5 km/Kw I was happy. I am sure the GV60's 21 inch wheels are pushing closer to 70 lbs but whatever they look sweet.

Yeah I don't have a problem with the GV60's wheels. It's the ones on the eGV70 that I'm not crazy about and with only a grand total of 2 people on this site who have taken delivery of an eGV70, i thought I'd ask the GV60 crowd for their thoughts on aftermarket wheels and their potential impact on range. Thanks for the input everyone.

I pulled them off when I had them powdercoated black and I'd say 75ish

I installed the PAW cross-bars that I bough a while back. I have a cargo carrier that I will need to use if I ever want to go somewhere with the wife & two kids. First test will be a relatively short 5 hour drive to the beach in August. Curious to see how this will affect range.

The cross-bars themselves have a wing-shaped profile; however, the installation instructions only mentioned that one was longer then the other and to put the long one in the front. So I have one bar with the sharp edge facing forward and the other facing rearward. Other than noise, this will have no impact on day to day driving, and when the cargo carrier is attached it will be totally insignificant.

Installation was easy & straight forward. It seems very tight & solid but I haven't tested it out yet. I am a little nervous that they are held on by friction via the grippers that attach to the flush mount rail. I've only ever used the carrier on crossbars with a bolted on crossbar.

Here is what I got:

Also available in silver. They say they ship from the US, but when I ordered, they shipped from Turkey (still free) and had to go through customs.

Update: Just requested an RMA & refund.

These made excessive noise above 20 MPH even after reversing the backwards rail. One left a small scratch in my roof rail and two of the lock cylinders came out of the protective covers.

I am just going to bite the bullet and pay the $500 for the factory bars.

Just weighed mine when swapping to summer tires/wheels. The 21" factory ones with tires weigh 71 lbs each. I don't think there will be a decrease in range with these (from my 20" winter ones) since the weather is warmer which I think will more than balance out the cold weather poorer range.

I did some deep cleaning on the interior of our car today... got pretty dirty over the winter! I noticed multiple large (>1-2") paint flaking areas on the rims. For the 20" US model rims, anyone have a good idea for what touch up paint to buy?

Noticed the steering wheel was already discoloring after only two weeks of ownership 🤯 added this cheap steering wheel cover from China. I don't really use the heated steering wheel feature (SoCal weather).

I may have to remove it though due to the HDA hands on steering wheel sensor. I'll see later today when I drive on the highway.

You may want to look a little closer into the issue before covering it up so quickly. While I've got a black interior, there are >17,000 kms on my 10 month old car, and no signs of discolouration. Your issue could be defective materials or some sort of contamination. If so, ignoring it may not be the best path forward.

Those with a white interior can weigh in, but I suspect we'd have heard of this previously if it was inherent to the car/materials. Or maybe others are just keeping their hands & wheel cleaner?

White interior. four months in. Still very clean.
