If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. What have you Raced?

This past weekend I was driving down south early morning on the interstate and traffic was very light. I accelerated to make a lane change to get around a tractor trailer and then from nowhere this cocky guy in bright yellow 2015 Mustang GT jumps over 3 lanes to catch me. I mashed the gas when he was about a car length behind and guess what happened...........Thats right "Genny Zone" baby!!! He never even made it to my rear quarter. I slowed and he cruised by with no eye contact. Another sore loser.

Priceless!!!!

It's sad when a new 5.0 liter Mustang can't overtake a two ton plus luxury sedan. :p

It was funny today, we are coming back from a long day of attending mothers day parties, and while we are right down the street from our house a guy on a Harley moves around a slower car, pulls up next to me a guns the throttle. Now I have my wife, my two daughter and even my Maltipoo service dog in the car, the road is open and perfect for dusting this guy, but I relented. From the back seat my 10 year old daughter say's "Dad he wants to race, aren't you going to blow him away?" I couldn't have been more proud of my baby girl at that time, but I told her "a race is only fun if the other guy has a chance, that guy doesn't have a shot in the world."

careful, you just might get a surprise from the Harley. ;) I dusty plenty of unsuspecting cars/bikes on my bagger Harley. But mine wasn't stock. :)
I think my Harley is faster than my R Spec. 7.2 lbs per HP vs 9.3 lbs per HP. ;)

So far - in the 2 weeks of ownership - my 5.0 rspec smashed on a Audi S5 and a crazy 4 door Civic with exhaust and stanced wheels. Not sure what the Civic was thinking. In all honesty I don't speed much; I tend to be the guy in the slow lane doing 60. And when I was 19 - I spent the weekend in Carson jail for street racing (I was just a spectator) - so I probably wont have many of these stories lol.

Keep smashing when not in the slow lane at 60mph. 😎 good one...

And that wide bathroom stance Civic.. Hilarious rendition of what happened.. There is another person up the threads who had someone like that try to keep up including going around a corner at speeds that wide stance sputtering rice burners have no business doing. The car ended up with wheels torn off and in the grass or a ditch..

This post and its comments is one of the best in the forum. We Genny owners are not the fastest around, but still crater so many in other brands who need to have their tails between their legs.

I want to pit my 4.6 with intake, exhaust, cat delete against a stock 5.0 to see how much of the gap I've closed. The dyno I saw with the TAU running just the cat deletes and intake showed an 8% increase in power to the wheels. That's around 415 peak HP at the crank. Would be very interdasting.

Ok... Took on M4 BMW Coupe. He started it... :) anyway, we were rolling down the rural 4 lane after a turn from another street. Since it was nice I had the roof open and partial back windows. So when he lit up, it sounded like a loud 1960s UPS truck without mufflers.. The worst sounding straight 6 I have ever heard. Turbos or not, I took him and he never caught up. All I heard was the fading truck engine, and not a peep out of the super quiet under max acceleration 2012 5.0. Just a constant growing rush of classy quiet refined V8 speed. Up the road at another light, he made sure he was behind me, and turned off as soon as he could.

Okay ill bite. This was either a 428/435(even then) badged out, or the guy had no idea.

F80/82's trap 117-121 bone stock, zero mods. Again, 120 bone. stock.
Gen 5.0's trap like 104? 105? There's just no way.

It was a new straight 6 M4.. The real deal. All the trimmings and the right wheels. I was shocked... I have not seen published specs of 120. Beside, the M has good off the line stats... The Genny is real weak off line due to programming. Loses a second by 25-30... Once rolling in what I call the "Genny Zone" rolling along from 35 on up, someone makes a challenge in that zone, it surprises many reported fast cars.. The M4 lost by a fender and he gave up first. Boy that thing sounded horrible for a straight 6. Not like a Supra of old. Like a Chevy straight 6 milk truck on steroids.

I was skeptical about the race with the M4 but the one where the Mustang 5.0 failed to overtake the Genesis 5.0 wasn't difficult to picture. If this discussion is going to continue then we all must abide by the rules and avoid personal insults. This is a friendly community and it needs to stay that way.

Thanks for the reply. Published specs are not 120, thats real world from forum members. No its not just a 'stat line'.

Also, this cars "zone" is from a roll, not dig (440tq @ 1800rpm makes it hard to launch)... Which is why the story was so hard to believe. Your "genny zone" is exactly where this car would run away (trap speeds tell the true story of how fast a car is).

You mentioned it in another post... maybe he had a manual. That would be my only guess... manual and he just literally didnt shift out of 6th. you would actually be surprised how faster this car is over 50 in 6th.

FWiW ive owned both F80 and E92 M3's so dont start talking about one engine (the v8) being superior as i come from experience. Its a very damn special bespoke i6. that doesnt sound nearly as bad as you would like:

Also, Here are 2012 (NOT 2015) 5.0 Genny specs versus a new M4.
These are not manufacture specs, but real world numbers.

You faced a M4 that didnt know he was racing... or just decided not to shift.

M4:
Zero to 60 mph: 3.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 8.5 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 14.5 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 4.5 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 1.9 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 2.7 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 12.0 sec @ 119 mph

Genny:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 12.8 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 23.7 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.4 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.0 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 4.0 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.7 sec @ 103 mph

As posted above. V8 verses I6 sounds video below. I6 especially pungent on the video where they are sitting still and revved up high and sustained.. To me was worse when the guy next to me was under full load. Amplified the truck on steroids experience.. Again, been some time, but I do not remember the I6 Supra turbo sounding that way.. Even heavily modified to 500HP+ with loud exhaust. If I was a BMW fan, would complain. Not up to the standard. If I wanted that type of sound, would put a poor designed system on a tweaked debadged SHO. 580 HP, AWD, low cost to buy used before tweak, and should eat a current M3 or M4 for lunch.. Would be interesting to hear the two of them out truck sound each other in a sprint..

Your video shows the results BMW is piping in modified sound into the cabin.. Faux sounds inside, and outside, a truck? This is not unusual today for the almost gaudy engineered Germans. Ford is silly enough to bring this fake experience to its performance cars.. The first video also spoke about "getting used" to the sound. Could not open the second video until just now. Edited this portion. This American apologist in the second video can say what he wants... However he will always have to live with the reality what is really going in from a sound perspective, is like living in the Matrix. Silly.. Fix the real sound, if BMW can.. Cut out spending money on fake sounds, and placating environmental terrorists. Stay with a V8, or something that would never need sound system enhanced crap. And, when we want to listen to accurate music, the stereo has to contend with piped in sounds. Geez.. I do appreciate you putting the two links up.

It is curious that Mercedes and BMW informed owner, hard core supporters, hang around the lowly Genesis forums. what is the point? To the nose in the air crowd, that would be like hanging with the Pontaic G8 crowd. Or the SRT folks.. I guess exclusivity has its draw. Dime a dozen leased to the hilt German vehicles, and know nothing about their cars except supposed prestige people, must be boring to have to hang around all the time. :)

Well. I will chock it up to the luck of the draw with the M4 experience. Heat soak and bad manual driver running 87 E15 cheapo gas.. Again, I was shocked enough, decided to mention it here in the post..

You're obviously the one with the chip on your shoulder, not the German car owners (just read your bitter posts).

And for the record, these cars don't heat-soak, especially on the street. Do research before you speak. Your Gen would overheat ages before a m3/4 in any scenario.

I mentioned heat soak as a possible condition... I will take your word for it.. Something caused the chaos on his end.. I edited the post above once I could open your second video.. I do not have a chip in my shoulder for German cars.. I am ethnically German.. However, I can be a critic.. Especially when my heritage is going down the Eco terrorist dark path resulting in fake piped in sounds on the audio system to make up for the real outside world..

Imagine if some vaunted BMW cultist 10 years ago, was made aware of a Tokyo by night feature that included piping in fake sounds into a Far East car... Most of the cultists would be laughing uncontrollably. Well tables are turned for the moment.. Hyundai, PLEASE do not ever pipe in sound on the Lexicon to cover a wheezing sputtering TT...

The sound is auto tuned.. Just the way it is.. Faked up on the sound system to fake out the blind regarding what it sounds like. Just the way it is, all excuses and percentages aside.

Its been discussed in detail. Its not faked or auto-tuned. Its microphones in the engine which pipe a percentage of sound into the cabin. The car is plenty loud on its own (especially in sport modes with valves open). Dont worry the Koreans will copy this in no time, just let them catch up ;)

My 911 has a tube from the intake into the cabin to increase the volume of sound. Does that make it less of a sports car than your Gen? No. Just speaks to how well insulated cars are now and the things manufactures have to do to combat that (in sporty models).

And WHY do you need the engine sound plumbed into the cabin? Does it make you feel that much better having spent the amount of money you did on the vehicle?

If you make enough horsepower, you will not need it plumbed into the cabin, it will take care of it itself. ;)
