  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What have you Raced?

Oh I'm sure he would have eaten me from a dig. I asked him he wanted to go from a light but he replied "nah, but I would if I were in my SRT" haha.

I was coming home from the airport late Saturday night/early Sunday morning and saw a really clean TT 300ZX. I then noticed a second in front of him. It looked like they were about to pull into a parking lot so I followed. They did not go into a parking lot but instead hit the U-turn to get back on the freeway at FM-1463. At this time I realized there were 14 300Z's, mostly N/A, but 6 were TT. All were very clean rides I would drive myself.
After a few miles on I-10 back towards downtown Houston, the white TT in front of me took off and I followed. I reeled him in fairly easy, even had to get off the gas to not run him over. After that it was on like Donkey Kong. One of the "Big Dogs" rolled up next and walked away from me easily. I played with the pack of Z's back to Washington St where we turned around and headed back. We made this circuit twice in each direction before I rolled out to go home, almost 25 miles in each direction. Only 3 Z's could get the best of me. And boy were they hooked up! They sounded like super sized Hoover's at speed. The sound from the turbos even drowned out their exhaust!
I have not goofed off with a pack of cars like that in almost 20 years. And Z's at that, not since I had my 280ZX. Brought back some good memories!

Ran a Trailbalzer SS (who knows if it was stock, sounded like it had at least exhaust done to it) from 60 to about 100 and I won by a nose in my 3.8. Wasn't really expecting that lol.

That's awesome! I like the trailblazer SS but I wouldn't expect that either.

All the disclamiers about racing...bla bla bla. Remember if you are passing YOU are responsible for safety of yourself and others. That said I went with a LS1 Comaro. He had exhaust changed, nothing else obvious. We both had a completely deserted road in front of us, and punched off evenly. He pulled a half to 1 car length off the bottom, but suprisingly the R-spec pulled him back on the top >75. we let off dead even and he was flabbergasted. "NOT BAD FOR A SEDAN HUH?" He said "it supprised the heck out of me!":D

Nothing. :)

1> That's not what I bought it for. I bought it as a touring car that keeps me comfortable and occupied while I am commuting to work 75 to 100 miles a day round trip, and when I am doing my numerous road-trips every year.

2> That's not what it's built for. I have a V6 powered, AWD, 4350lb vehicle that has no performance tuning out of the box (or available for that matter) that does 0-60 in 6.4 before my fat ass even gets in it. The only things I would/could race with it will not earn me any brownie points or bragging rights. I will not be bringing home any trophies or pink slips with it.

:)

Mustang Shelby GT 350. Slaughtered him off the line at the red light. He was still in my rear view mirror when I hit 70. We came up to the next redlight and, not so much.

Raced quite a few cars. Won some. Lost some. This one was a kid in a 2013 RT that was talking a lot of trash. Beat him pretty bad even with him stealing the hit.

2.0T Genesis Coupe

So coming home from work on Saturday I'm on the highway and get stuck behind this F150 with the 5.4 and he's going 40 in a 50 construction area where the road gets a little rough and is down to 2 lanes. I understand going 50, but this joker was ridiculous. So when the zone is over and it opens to 3 lanes, I hit the left lane and go. I didn't put the hammer down, I just passed him and got up to 65.

Then he starts to pull on me (apparently he doesn't like getting passed by a 2.0 L 4 banger). Challenge accepted. He just got up beside me doing 70 and gaining, I put the hammer down and pull out on him at 80. At 90 he can't keep up and at 110 I just walk away, at 120 it's like he's stuck in 3rd or something. A 5.4 getting embarrassed by a 2.0T

It was a Ford after all so I guess I should be all that proud. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfHtcUZXljw That YT video IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK (but hella funny)

The recent argument has been removed and the thread has been re-opened. Please keep it friendly...

I don't know if there is a special BMW X5 out there now. But I was being tailgated by one with wide tires. It was a brand new one and appeared to be hopped up. We were on a two lane,(each way), and I was a comfortable distance from the car in front of me. He was a bit slow passing traffic in the right lane, but I was patient.
After passing slower traffic, the person I was following failed to get right and I was getting perturbed at this Beemer on my ass.
As soon as we cleared the right lane traffic and the dude in front didn't get right, I decided to get right and get my move on to get rid of the dick on my arse.
I hit the gas. Beemer dude tries to jump on me, but I'm off with foot buried in the right lane.
He jumps left trying to pass, but I didn't let up. He faded back in my rear view as I turned 120mph. I slow for my exit and gave this dude a wave and a smile as he gave me a perplexed look that I'll never forget. I'm loving this machine!

PS: there was SOO much left in the powerband and at that speed ,it was like floating on a cloud.

Tailed by a Charger today on the highway (he was behind, I didn't see if it was the V8 or 6) in traffic that thing looked like a big bulky turd. He couldn't keep up and got stuck in traffic I found easy to get through. In the rear view I could see how roly-poly the car is and just looked uncomfortable in traffic. Even at 80 he just couldn't accelerate and keep up with me, I just drove away as he tried to keep up but got stuck behind slower traffic. I thought even a V6 would be a better ride than that and would have no problem keeping up. That thing just looked sluggish.

There are a few versions of the X5. The bottom of the barrel is a 3.0 liter V6 with turbo. It does 0-60 in 6.2 seconds. That's what you raced. The sport package comes with HHUUGGEE 20 inch wheels with 50/315s. Absolutely huge (wide) tires.

The X5 with twin turbo V8 does 0-60 in 4.7 seconds and that's one hell of a heavy automobile. Once moving it's much more impressive so that's definitely not what you raced.

The X5M - now that puts a whole 'nother paint job on things. That SUV does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds and once rolling along is an absolute monster on the highway...

Might have been an X5 M. But that would have kept up....

Kept up?! :p:p:p

WALKED?!?!?!?!?!?! :p:p:p The X5 M does 0-60 in 3.7 seconds. :p

Well, whatever it was, it went bye-bye.
