  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All. Newbie here. I just bought a 2010 Genesis 4.6 loaded with everything including Tech Package on Monday. Got it through an internet deal and don't know much of the history on it. Only 8,300 miles and warranty didn't start getting used until May 2011!

Even though I'm even weird enough to read the manuals, I can't figure this out and think it must be after market:

There is a push button switch with flashing red light under the dash by the driver’s left knee. It is attach by a 6 wire ribbon cable. It looks like it might have a second light that isn't on. Any idea what it is? I’m guessing some kind of security system, but I don’t see anything in the manuals?

Tried pushing button and messing around, and so far still no clue....

Picture? Was there a remote starter installed?

Don't play around with that thing - it is the self destruct device in case you got carjacked (similar to the one in Mad Max's car) :D

Lol, sorry, I'm clueless.

It is the Flux Capacitor. This enables the time travel functionality, which, unfortunately is only enabled on KDM models equipped with the air suspension.

LOL, you guys are great! I'm guessing remote starter even though I'd prefer the flux capacitor. Picture(s) coming soon.
