  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is the deal with Hyundai???

Amen. Since they have already shown what they can do at the current price point, there will need to be some additional improvements to justify a higher price point. It is not about whether or not someone can afford sodas, wireless internet, lattes, or whatever. It is that the dealerships incorporate these types of services into their overhead at luxury branded outlets. It used to be you could buy a suit anywhere and take it to an alterations shop. The higher end stores generally include the alterations in the sales price. Cost more? yep. Worth it? To some, yes.

LMAO.... way to go.... you just summed it all up ... I was wondering how to bring tailors into the equation and couldn't figure it out.......... You can have your suit tailored at Sears or you can do it "IN STYLE" at a high end store...... thats perfect........ That's really what HG is saying.... he could buy his Genesis at a Hyundai dealer, but he would rather do it "IN STYLE" .... is that about right HG?.... I think that captures the essence of what we are talking about...... We're all happy now I think....... Good discussion boys

Sounds good to me.. If purchasing a product "in style" includes little this's and that's that aren't available otherwise, than absolutely.

If you don't understand or can't believe it - than so shall it be, my friend. You and I will simply agree to disagree.. If that designer gasoline comes with full service - than yes, I'd be willing to pay more - just like everyone else does who gets full service at a gas station. Pump my gas, clean my windows, check my oil, etcetera - I'm good to go. You're going to tell me you really don't understand that?

At any rate, I'm 100% positive that a luxury sub brand of Hyundai will offer more perks than their lesser counterparts. Just like Lexus does with Toyota. For example, Lexus gets REALLY nice leather - Toyota does not. There's more sound proofing in Lexus vehicles than there are in Toyota vehicles. Sound systems and performance are/is better as well. Don, you're making it sound as if people are willing to pay more for the exact replica of another vehicle / service with a different badge and showroom / service area. Again, I'm sure you understand the concept of all of this but you'd like to make your point sound reasonable for arguments sake...

You are changing the issue. Paying more for exactly the same item is my point. A Toyota vs. Lexus with more sound proofing is not the same as a Hyundai Genesis vs. a Genesis at a Genesis dealership for $5K more. That's pure image.

Full service gas for more money than pump it yourself is also an interesting issue. I recently rented a car in NJ and wanted to fill the tank before returning the car. Dumb a$$ me tried to pump it myself only to be told that in NJ all gas is pumped by station personnel. Guess what, the gas didn't cost any more than at the pump it yourself stations in PA. Here in CA we have Stage III summer gas (or is it Stage IV?) that differs than gas in other states due to smog - it costs more and gives 10% less fuel economy. So I have designer gas now. Thank you very much California.

They might not be free, but if you sell enough Hyundai's you can apparently afford those types of "perks" anyway. My Hyundai dealer offers all of those except maybe pastries (I've never noticed).

What I'm amazed at is how many people put so much stock in the service experience. You would swear they must live their life I the dealer. If have to put my car in more than once, or maybe twice, in 100,000 miles for anything other than an oil change I consider the car a fail. Do others make a lot more trips to the dealer?

We have a winner!

That to me is why I purchased our Genesis. If I wanted image I'd be driving a Jag. or Bimmer. So far we're on our 3rd Hyundai because we haven't spent 10% of the time at the dealer that we did with our Lincoln and other cars. plus don't have to fight to get things covered under the warranty.

Hey, at the lexus dealership I got free all you can eat Crispy Creme Donuts.:D "YUMMY"!!!:) That might be worth the extra $5,000, plus I got to listen to some eloquent music while I watched satellite T.V. on a big flatscreen.

And you thought the extra money spent only went to the marble floors, Lexus loaner car, wireless internet, and lattes. Krispy Kremes are the real deal. I am surprised more police officers and state troopers don't drive Lexus. The all-you-can-eat donuts must be one of the best kept secrets in the auto industry. I wonder if Mercedes and BMW offer struedel? With my luck, Volvo probably offers some cold smoked fish.

Well, we'll be enjoying some of that fine Lexus service in a few days when my wife and I trade in our 2007 Chrysler 300C (crappy service) for a new Lexus GX470.. And we don't mind paying for the extras. The Toyota 4Runner (same platform) is nice but the Lexus is where we want to be. To each his/her own...

Nothing wrong at all with that fine Lexus service. I really like the GX470 as far as SUVs go. I think it is one of the best. Make sure you get your fill of Krispy Kremes. :)

Had a GX and loved it. Traded it in as the Mrs. and I no longer had the need for a SUV. Plus, it was a killer on fuel when she drove it daily commuting back and forth to work.

I have to admit, on the rare chance that you do have to sit in the Lexus waiting area, they do know how to pamper you. Infiniti wasn't even close! And that is way out of Hyundai's league!

Don't remember if they were KK donuts at my GM dealer when I took my '06 GTO in for warranty work , but they did have donuts. Jelly ones! With today's GM news, I wonder if: A) they still will have them next time I'm there, B) will they be there the next time that I need a dealer, C) Will the terms of the warranty still be the same, D) will I need to get on a preapproval Government Motors/ObamaCarCare warranty waiting list if I need warranty work? E) Need to go to Canada for major repairs? Yikes! Interesting times.

I believe GM Holden dealers down under should be able to schedule you in for service. Isn't the global economy great? Maybe they will have shrimp on the barbie wating for you. :p
