  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

I love my 3 month old Genesis. Only one minor thing so far. Not a big deal but the drivers side head rest slowly creeps higher after each trip. After about 10 or so rides, the headrest is about 3 inches from the seat..... anyone else have this? Any ideas to stop the haunted head rest.

You sure you're not getting shorter?

As has been stated, the iPod integration is incredibly sad.

I came from having an Alpine IDA-X100 in my previous car, which is by far, the best iPod integration I have seen so far. It's very fast to search to albums/songs/artists, displays album art, and you can pretty much do everything on it that you do on an iPod.

If only Hyundai would reach out to Alpine and get a clue as to how iPod integration should be done.

It's very strange that the Genesis doesn't display what's currently playing when you first get in. It knows what track is on, since it displays it at the top in tiny letters. It just doesn't know if it's Random, Songs, etc, but... who cares? They can easily display nothing there.

I did notice this the other day. Weird.

1) I hate that i cant lift up my wipers without it hitting the hood. its a real pain when im trying to clean my blades and that area of the windshield.
2) You cant turn on JUST the fog lights, you have to have the headlights on.

You may already know, but when the car is running, shut it off and hold the wiper stalk in the up position.

how about the navigation which freezes if you move the cursor? that's pretty lame and highly inaccurate at all other times if you just want to point the car where you want to go!

Mine does not.

The biggest complaint I have is my radio randomly powers on when I start the engine, I have to hit the radio power button twice to turn off (either on steering wheel or the button by the dvd player).

I am wondering if anyone else has had that issue, if so what was the fix for it?

Sad to say yes. Quite a lot of entries on this subject . Mine has done it since about 6 months old. Don’t even notice it any more just automatically hit the button twice (sort of like a reflex action). No haven’t seen or heard of a fix to address this issue. Hope that’s’ the only issue for you.

Same annoying radio issue for me. It has been mentioned on previous posts. No fix that I am aware of.

Agreed......beeen my biggest complaint other than no lumbar support on front passenger seat (although knew that going in).
There is no detent for the headrest when in the base position so over time it gradually creeps up to the first notch.

I'm a newbie and don't own a Genesis. There is one problem that may keep me from owning one, however. It's the lack of exterior color options on the 5.0. It's that engine (and performance) that really draws me to a Genesis, but it will need to come in something besides white, gray, or black to get me to buy one. The blue or red would do it.

The R-Spec is the 5.0 that has limited colors, black, silver and titanium. You can buy a 5.0 in every color Hyundai puts on the Genesis.

According the the US website, the 5.0 non R-Spec is only available in 3 colors (Black, White, Titanium) as is the R-Spec in the ones you mentioned.
The 4.6 & 3.8 is available in 7 colors including all 5.0 colors and adding blue, red and champagne.

My 2012 Rspec is quite a wonderful car, especially for the money. There are few things I'd like to see Hyundai improve in the future:

1) Distance control cruise - add an off setting for the distance sensor
2) Passenger seat features same as drivers seat
3) Automatic change to next CD when CD finishes playing
4) Faster shifting trans
5) Sport mode for shifter, higher shift points and quicker (paddle shifters)
6) Better exterior paint quality (blotchy on inside of door frames), bumpers not as well done as body.
7) Ability to auto default screen to blank at start-up after warning
8) Ability to see other data (mpg) on small center screen when using cruise
9) FOB controlled memory setting so that each user would automatically get their settings without pushing memory button
10) Sport suspension with improved sharp impact response (Audi or BMW come to mind).

I knew about most of these before buying and purchased it because it is such a good overall vehicle.....these are things to make a good car a great car.

Numbers 3 and 8 do what you want. Mine does.
