  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

So 2013 Tech cars can factory stream Bluetooth??

In '12, only the Tech package cars lacked streaming audio capability. The base and Premium '12 models have it. For '13 & '14, all Genusi have it.

From Shagnat "It's not just the Genesis. I read an article about how the computers are pretty slow to respond (dunno why they're slow) to these downshifts.

The last 4 cars I've owned (2 Hyundais, 1 Toyota, 1 Buick) all had the same issue. Now, I do have a cloud over my head (born with it) but, I seriously doubt I'm the only person who has had 4 cars over 2 decades with the same downshift issue and it not be a common problem with a huge majority of modern vehicles.

If I can find the article, I'll post a link to it here...... it was very insightful and wish I had read it long ago to save my frustration a bit."

I'll read that article if you post its location. I agree its frustrating but, somehow, if there is a logical, can't be worked around reason, then it's easier to live with.

1. Back seats do not fold forward. That would be the best improvement they could make.

2. Better places to place cell phones.

3. While the cars themselves are a good value, the resale on them is not.

The drop in value is amazing. When I decided to buy another Hyundai that was close to what I had in my '07 Azera . I checked prices on used Azera's and then Genesis's. '12 Azera's were in the $28-$31k range. Much better equipped Genesis were $22-$28k. Why? My '12 tech Genesis w/15k miles was priced at $23991. Over two months of looking I never saw an Azera with that low miles even close to that. So that low resale helps used car buyers I guess, as long as we keep our cars for several years.

+1
Anyone know if a folding rear seat has been added to the 2015 Gens?

RMinor - Do you think this is caused by the use of the 3.8 Genesis in the rental car market in earlier years. So many of the used Genesis sedans are shown as rental cars on CarFax reports. This drives down their value tremendously and I think contributes to the lower used values of the cars that were not rentals. But, I am not sure.

That's interesting. I didn't realize that many Gennys were used for rental. Most of the vin reports I've seen show rental & leased together and I'm sure a lot were leased. But I'm not sure how carfax shows it.

Biggest gripe? Electrical issues. In under 27k miles and less than 2 years, I've had:

3 front parking sensor failures

Headlights turn off when actuating turn signals

Cruise control failed two separate occasions

Audio system doesn't produce sound until it's rebooted

Random TPMS fail light

Windshield wiper motor failure

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Apparently for us Genesis owners this still is your "Father's Hyundai"! Too bad. This kind of talk will hurt trade in/used sale value. Live and learn. Reliability will be the most important factor with my next car. The idea of a former econobox maker running with the big boys was too inviting for me to ignore. I'm glad I bought the extended warranty and I'll enjoy this car for as long as I own it.

"They are who we thought they were!" Words of an emotional Coach Green after Arizona allowed a down but not out Chicago Bear club to snatch victory from the deep jaws of defeat. That works here.

In 6 months I've had the steering wheel tilt/telescope switch fail, sunroof come out of alignment, radio has been replaced twice, now getting intermittent problems with it. Climate control intermittent issues getting the temperature to change, seems to only be able to do high or low temperature sometimes nothing in between. Sunroof also came out of alignment and started leaking. Add in 2 recalls during this time too. All in 6 months. 2009 V6 with tech package.

I wish everyone would put both the year and model of their Genesis in their signature----------it would make your posts on problems more useful.

Have had the car ~9months and had the following done:
propeller shaft replaced
pass. side heating switch (and seat) replaced
brake shims replaced twice
(the recalls we all already know about)

The above issues were remedied. Below are still existing issues I've been trying to get the dealer to fix:

Shaking at any speed above 40mph (gets worse as speed increases)
Whine on startup (goes away when the engine gets warm)
Driver side window works when it wants

I'm on the fence as to which was worse: the current vibrating (which is moderate at speed but never severe), or the vibration on acceleration that were caused by the propeller shaft earlier this year (that was severe at any speed, but was only during takeoff, it was super smooth everywhere else).

Still love the car. Contemplated getting something else, but nothing else intrigues me as much, not even the next gen.

I guess this reflects the fact that the Azera is a new car. The Genesis faces the worst moment: the now one is announced.
Fatally the current platform loses value.

What do you mean about the Azera being a new car??? (maybe I'm slow) :o

My 08 Azera Premium just went & went...
My "13 Genesis -- What can I say..6months in my stable//7th Time at the dealership as I speak/write/moan...It just aint screwed together:eek:
Reminds me of the UK Chryslers circa 1980's...............:grouphug:

I believe he means the Azera model is current with no known model incoming, while the upcoming Genesis is a complete makeover and an evolutionary change, thereby depreciating the outgoing model. This transition time as the new model is announced is when the huge hit on the current model happens.

Kind of like the "Osborne Effect" to the older computer folks..

NO 8 way power seat on Psgr side. The Equuis has it and so does the Azera. why not the Genesis. wife can't see out!

A few quibbles:

2: water dripping into trunk when trunk lid is opened after washing car or after a rainstorm.

mike c.

I've found that holding the trunk lid about 2/3 open for a bit while the water drips off helps, it goes down the channels on each side of the trunk, instead of in the trunk.
