  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

Re: If you had to choose

I agree that the ipod is connection clunky, but I've discovered how to regain control of the ipod menu after you have selected an option (genre, etc). Select/deselect "random" in the option you are presently in & then you regain control of the ipod menu.

Ipod issue - another somewhat quicker way to get back to the "albums" when you hit back if it messes up. Select "artists", then go back and select "albums." Works for me everytime if it gets buggy. Hope new Genny is going to let us use the newest cord.

The drivers seat belt has a warning if it's left unbuckled but not the passenger belts. Be nice if all the belts had the warning or at least both front belts.

I believe he means the Azera model is current with no known model incoming, while the upcoming Genesis is a complete makeover and an evolutionary change, thereby depreciating the outgoing model. This transition time as the new model is announced is when the huge hit on the current model happens.

Kind of like the "Osborne Effect" to the older computer folks..

ksoze, that's the most colorful description I've ever read. Thanks for the explanation and the humor.

My 08 Azera Premium just went & went...
My "13 Genesis -- What can I say..6months in my stable//7th Time at the dealership as I speak/write/moan...It just aint screwed together:eek:
Reminds me of the UK Chryslers circa 1980's...............:grouphug:

WowCool..... couldn't have said it any better. I also had an 08 Azera Ltd. w/out issues. And I love your analogy to the Chryslers. Same kind of deal with Chrysler here in the US.

Re: Don't buy

My V8 Lexus from '98 got better gas mileage (on the highway at 80 mph it did 24.5 mpg) than my 2010 V6 Genny (23.5-24 mpg at 80 mph).

Pretty much agree with your other thoughts, but my 2010 4.6 routinely gets 26-27+ highway mpg at 75-80 mph on regular gas (3 hours stints) assuming the built-in display is correct.

I believe the seatbelt chime logic is not tied to whether someone is sitting in the seat or not. The drivers side simply chimes if it's not buckled. So obviously the car assumes if it's moving that someone is in the drivers seat.

So to do it for the passenger side would require logic to know if someone was sitting in the seat.

I guess this would relieve drivers of the necessity to say "Hey stupid, buckle your belt!"

BMW has had the same issue, but the work around was to use one of the programmable radio buttons to make the multiple step selection to shuffle. Still required at start up, but was at least a one button press.

How in the world do you make this happen? Didn't know it was possible.... never heard of it but it sure sounds great.......

Can you do a video or very explicit instructions on how this is accomplished?

Either your computer is way off, or mine is way off, or our cars (same year and model) are just waaaay different in ways we cannot compare.

I get ~14-15 in town...... ~23-24 on the interstate

My point was that BMW has the programmable radio buttons - don't believe the Genesis has them. They should.

They are a great way to jump to nested selections with one button press. Many program their home or work address for the Nav, music settings or anything that can be selected. To see how they were then programmed, when a finger is passed lightly over each button, it shows what it is programmed to do on the Nav screen as a reminder. Cool.

Tires can make a big difference.

I find the ESC to be very restrictive. It's great that it keeps the tires planted in slippery conditions, but it takes way too long for it to get going once there is adequate grip. This is a pain in the ass especially since it's the middle of winter and I live in Winnipeg.

I also don't like how the USB audio isn't compatible with Android devices. I can't get audio from my Samsung S4 at all.

Never understood why with a car that has so many bells and whistles that they did not install automatic folding side mirrors?

The premium techs and R Spec's do have folding mirrors

Got cha'........ after I reading your post again, I realize that's what you were saying..... I need better reading comprehension!!

Yeah, don't trust the built in display.

Those of you who really want to know what MPG you car gets without calculating the tank average might want to look at www.automatic.com. It will show mpg for each trip segment. I get about 2 mpg better at 65 than at 75.

My biggest gripes with the my 2009 Genesis 4.6 are as follows. Keep in mind I have only had it for a week.

1. Seemingly rough ride for a sedan. From what I've read the older Gene's had more of a sport suspension than the newer models.

2. Front left side marker light (194) likes to be out when i start the vehicle. A few taps fixes this but I want a more permanent solution. I messed with trying to remove the headlamp housing for over an hour and nothing on the internet aids with removal.
The one video I found on how to remove a headlight housing is a Genesis until the hood opens, then it magically becomes an earlier Sonata.

3. Radio functions are oddly placed, difficult to reach and manipulate. Wouldn't recommend using while in motion. Wish I didn't have to lean so far forward and toward the middle to adjust radio.

4. Seat doesn't move in and out of driver position when starting/shutting off car like the steering wheel does.

5. Wish it had sun shades on the rear doors like my E320 had.

6. Water dripping with trunk open.
