If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What is your biggest complaint about the Hyundai Genesis?

I really am not happy with the intermittent windshield wipers. I like to turn them to slow and have it stay there in medium rain. The Genesis system speeds it up if it feels the rain is coming too heavy for the speed I selected.

Using the auto mode you can adjust the intermittent timing with the other dial lower on the stalk.

Best solution would be to have an iPad (without the glossy screen) stuck in the middle of the dashboard. That would solve a lot of problems.

Why in the world Genesis should be tied to a crappy ipad? It should allow to connect and use any Android based tablet!

Mine will occasionally swipe once out of the clear blue on a dry, sunny day.

I have a 2012 3.6L base, and can't figure out why they didn't put any coin holders in this car, the thing is sure big enough inside.

If you drive a Genesis you don't bother with little money. Just never carry anything smaller than a 20 and always tell the other person or cashier etc to keep the change. Problem solved.

Re: bluetooth streaming

you may already know this by now but you CAN stream bluetooth through your stereo. i have a 2011 genesis sedan, and use the iPhone 4. just pair the phone per the manual, then select the phone (i just use the actual selector knob not voice) and open the "air play" icon on your phone and make sure you press the aux button on the car stereo until it reads "mp3 stream" on your stereo display.not to worry, it takes 30 min to learn/ set up, then 5 seconds any time you want to use it, very easy. i use hands free phone, iPod, even pandora!

Could you give very specific, step-by-step instructions on how to do this? I have not been able to replicate what you describe, and I have a 2011 3.8 Genesis sedan with the Tech Package, and an iPhone 4. It plays while connected to the car via the iPod cable, but bluetooth only works for phone calls, not music.

Still new to this car and learning about it. It's less than a week old. Here are some gripes. Please correct me if I am wrong. The first few items involve storage and this list is in no particular order.

1) Storage areas are terribly small. When I put anything in the storage bins on either front door, the stored items roll back and forth as the car moves. I hate to hear my stuff rolling around. Would a piece of cloth or something prevent my stuff from moving while I drive? I can't even keep a pen in the storage bins. Would love to hear any suggestions s this complaint is near the top of my list.

2) Ashtray & cigarette lighter: I don't smoke. Would prefer a little coin storage area there instead.

3) A larger storage area in the center console

4) A larger size wire pass thru in the center console. My phone charger wire is thick and doesn't fit in the grove used as a pass through.

5) Radio doesn't maintain surround sound for ALL radio channels after car sits for a period of time.

6) Navigation Voice function: do I have to list my state and city for every Destination voice command? It takes forever to enter a destination my voice. Maybe I'm not doing it correctly.

7) Gas mileage (still on my first tank): My V6 is getting 17.6 mpg overall. Seems like I got about 29 on the highway but I'm concerned my city mileage is poor. Hopfully the engine will break in and mileage will improve.

8) Better seat support. The curent seat is comfy and extra wide but I'd like better support.

9) Voice support for telephone. I'd like to have a voice command option where I can say setup...bluetooth off. I read it could be done in the manual but I don't see it in real life. I prefer to use a good bluetooth earpiece for phoine conversations.

1. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Grip-Shelf-Drawer-Liner-Black/dp/B000KFSOFI]Also available in every target/walmart[/ame]

2. Remove the ashtray (just pull up firmly) and use the empty slot to hold your coins.

5. Known bug in the 2012. My '09 doesn't do that FWIW.

The trip odometer only goes to 999 miles and then resets,I like using trip 2 to keep track of my oil changes, Car doesn't reconize what key fob is used and go to that person's settings. The 14 speaker radio doesn't keep custom settings, Change channels and you have to change EQ settings it will not save settings for different channels.also turn the bass up and it will turn itself down, Only XM tells you what the songs playing are,These are things my 1998 corvette and 2002 Dodge Ram do.

I don't want the car to try and recognize who is driving when both my wife and I have our keys in the car. I'm content with pressing the "1" or "2" on the door to have the driving position set.

Having said that, the DIS is pretty lame. iPod integration is terrible (do I really need to nudge the control knob 26 times to scroll through the artists and play artists starting with a W? Should I really need to tell it to shuffle songs randomly EVERY TIME I START THE CAR? Why would I rather use my Android phone's Navigation app than the car? (hint: I can speak both addresses and names of destinations naturally and Google will figure it out, it's always up-to-date, and it's usually more accurate):(

I completely agree that different stations should support different EQ settings.

I also would like to see a rear seat 12V outlet for portable DVD-players, handheld video games, etc. Makes long drives with kids safer and easier to manage.

Those are pretty small gripes my friend, I now have a 2010 4.6 Silver/black with the tech package having had the 3.8 previously.

If you have the 3.8 you can expect up to 30 plus mpg highway driving but of course less in urban driving as with any car. The 4.6 will not be quite as frugal but not so bad.

Storage space seems to be more than adequate unless you are used to a minivan or something on that order, this is a large sedan.

As far as seat support goes mine seem to be fairly firm and very comfortable for long drives.

The navigation feature, this is the one with the control knob, is the best I have ever used and I have had them all, which includes Tomtoms, Garmin, Magellan and other built in units, it is so precise and clear it's simply amazing, so going through the address sequence may be a litttle annoying but it's worth it.

You will not find a better value automobile on the market than the Genesis but you can pay a heck of a lot more and perhaps get a little more car, but there will still be gripes.

.

Just got back from a 5000 mile trip to KC and back. All numbers are at speed limit with cruise control. Just decided to record mileage on this leg as I now had 4000 miles on Odometer.
Return trip: Odessa TX to El Paso 24.1MPG, 80 MPH speed limit, 40-50 MPH head/side winds. 32.4 MPG El Paso to Yuma. 27MPG Yuma to Tecate Summit (this is from sea level to 4181 feet.) 35.2MPG Tecate summit to Carlsbad. So, boys and girls, you get what you get!!!

Agreed these are relatively small gripes with the except of using the voice for inputting a new address (if I am doing it correctly-need to read that darn manual). Overall my satisfaction with the car is very high and the value is very good. I've been driving a sporty crossover and I forgot how comfortable, smooth, and fun a great driving car like Genesis is to drive everyday.

Navigation - No speed limit display

I really miss the little icon that shows the current speed limit wherever you might be driving. My Garmin Nuvi has this. Wish Hyundai would put it in their Navigation database.

This! I love that. I would pay for navigation that integrates real time traffic like my Nuvi too.

I'm not so sure - during my initial free XM trial period I had the nav with traffic running during a long trip. There were two major traffic jams along the way - one due to ongoing construction and another due to an accident. In both cases, the traffic warnings were displayed at least 30 minutes past a point where a detour would have been possible. Based on that small sample, I'm not impressed. I found in general that XM doesn't offer anything I want, so I didn't sign up after the trial expired.

I agree with the comment about the original Dunlop tires. Mine only made it to 31K. I think the steering could use a little more feel/feedback.

I've noticed that there are not very many complaints here about 2012 models.
