  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've been considering getting a 2012 Genesis. Was wondering what kind of gas mileage you all are getting. I'm considering getting the R-Spec. The dealership has one that the owner drove (2500) miles. Asking price is 40,000. Not a bad deal. But I've also noticed that many of the people got a brand new R-Spec for around 41000. So i think i can talk them down to 37000 maybe.. Since it already has 2500 miles.. We will see. But I'm really interested in the real world gas mileage that you all are getting

I have an 11' 3.8 Sedan which I drive spirited and I average around 21 MPG, on the highway with cruise on I hover around 29 MPG's...out of all the Sedans I've owned the Genny gets the best MPG's.

I get 13 -15 mpg driving around LA with the ECO light on.

My real-world mileage in town averages 18-19; pure hwy is 27-28 @ 70-75 mph. This is with an R-Spec with 10k miles and with various grades of fuel. The differences in fuel grade have been insignificant IMO, the only exception is non-oxygenated premium which I sometimes buy locally and always buy when I travel to Wisconsin. That yields 1-3 mpg increase depending on whether or not I have a twitch in my right foot.

I don't understand your numbers. I'm not contesting them but I have yet to achieve them. 4.6 is listed at 16 mpg city and R-Spec is listed at 15. I have to figure you're driving some free and clear roads. I think it would help if we described what types of roads we drive. LA is a lot of stop and go. NY, Boston, SF would be that way too.

Now when I drive up the coast or something I can acheive the fwy. mpg you see.

Around 16 mpg on short urban journeys around Orange County, CA - lots of traffic lights. 24 mpg or better on a decent long-distance run.

I have a 12 Gensis V6 weith the GDI and average around 25mpg with the following split:

Highway 65%
Suburban 20%
City 15%

I don't know which to get. I currently have an 09 Honda Pilot and I travel a lot. Currently, I'm just shy of 80,000 miles. I max out at 19 mpg. I'm not sure if I should just get a fully loaded 3.8 or get this R-Spec

Much of my driving is Minneapolis St. Paul and southwest metro. With rarely has gridlock type of congestion. I drive
fairly conservatively, use synthetic 5w-20 Castrol Edge and warm the car up by driving it, not idling it.

2012 - 3.8. I live in a rural area. About 6 miles, 2 stops and a dozen or so turns to get to work. MPG is consistently around 19.5. No hard starts or stops.

The computer says MPG is around 21.2. I calculate it myself every time I fill up. It's 19.5. The computer on my car is wrong.

I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else calculates different MPG than what the computer reports.

Yes. My car computer is 1-2 mpg high.

I have this same mix and my '12 4.6 is consistent 25mpg +-2mpg. I have found the computer to be 2mpg optimistic. Have 15000 miles and smile every time I fill up!

Very happy with the mpg of the V8

Wow! LA sure must be tough on cars, mpg, etc. If the computer is 2 mpg high, then us LA people are getting 11 - 13 mpg. No wonder there are so many Prius around here.

2009 4.6 Genny w/36K. The majority of my driving is around town. As you can see in the attached chart, I'm doing 20 MPG most of the time, but I've ranged from 15 to 27.

16 to 17 MPG city w/ the eco light on 90% of the time. 27 to 28 MPG highway 75 to 80 MPH. With only 3200 miles on it, So it should get a little better with age.

I have averaged my last 6 tankfuls of gas. I drive 75% Hwy and 25% City. I live in Miami, so that 25% is sometimes gridlock/ a lot of stop and go. My per tank avg comes to 19.7
