  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Name some things that these competitors don't have that make the Hyundai Genesis a better vehicle. I see a lot of people don't agree that the Genesis is better. This thread can be a place to come to collect reasons and make rebuttals easy on the net...

Compared to the 300/300C: Much greater refinement, more power (excluding the SRT-8), better fuel economy, much nicer interior, better looks (personal opinion), better steering, better fuel economy, significantly more feature content for similar money

Compared to the Buick Lucerne: Slightly cheaper pricing (MSRP), tons more horsepower/torque, better fuel economy, nicer finishing to most of the interior materials, better ride/handling balance, better steering

Compared to the Toyota Avalon: More balanced RWD platform w/ less weight over the front wheels, MASSIVELY better styling (personal opinion), better suspension, better steering, quieter cabin, more power.

Compared to the ES350: Slightly cheaper pricing (V6 MSRP), more balanced RWD platform w/ less weight over the front wheels, more power, significantly more passenger/cargo room, quieter cabin.

And two more I'll add that I also consider competition to the Genesis (both of which were my 1st and 2nd runner up to the Genesis respectively);

2009 Maxima: More cargo/passenger space, seemingly better build quality, quieter cabin, nicer styling, superior feel of the Aisin 6-speed auto vs. Nissan's CVT

Pontiac G8: Much greater feature content, better fuel economy, more horsepower (V6), nicer interior, more refined ride, quieter cabin with much less engine noise.

Plus (most likely) better IIHS side impact crash tests.

Note, however, that you can get a Lucerne V6 for $26,000 or so. So the Lucerne V6 dramatically undercuts the Genesis V6 on price. (You are definitely, in my opinion, getting an inferior car with the Buick, though.)

Agreed, but the Avalon (and Camry V6) consistently deliver shockingly fast acceleration times considering their 268 horsepower official rating. I wouldn't be surprised if the Avalon outruns the Genesis V6 in a straight line.

Agreed on all three.

The Chrysler warranty is now unlimited on engine and transmission for the original owner, so it beats Hyundai... assuming the company doesn't go bankrupt.

The GM warranty is 7 years/100,000 now, so if you drive 15,000 miles per year or more it's effectively as good as the Hyundai 10/100,000.

Bottom line, there are 2 things that make the Hyundai brand better than other brands:

1. Hyundai gives you equipment on all it's models as standard equipment that are options on all the other brands; and

2. Hyundai gives you the BEST warranty out of all the other brands.

This along with the increase in available models and great looks make Hyundai the best bang for your buck! :D

Power and reliablity

Unbeatable cost / benefit.
Outstanding warranty.
Good resale value = again, outstanding advantage on leasing.

The car itself: outstanding.

Mine is 7 day old... I am marveled.

In the words of the old binocular “Bang for the buck”. While it might not be the best at a lot of vehicle attributes it manages to stay high enough in each category to justify its reputation and following. Well worth the money. All things considered.

The Toyota's are quick but not that quick.

Avalon - 6.0/14.2
Camry - 5.7/14.1
Genesis - 5.4/13.8

Mits has the longest warranty. Hyundai's have many trim levels so not all options are standard.

5 years later. The Lucerne is gone and hasn't been replaced. Toyota Avalon, and ES350 are FWD's. Thats now Azera territory.

That leaves the 300. Both are evenly matched especially the newer generation. I would still go with the Genesis Sedan now based of reliability.

My family has had bad luck with Chrysler in the past. The others are fwd. SO the Genesis wins for being more reliable than chrysler and rwd
