The dealer will use this to clean your fuel system:Anybody know for sure what should be included in a "fuel system" cleaning? I have the 2010 4.6L. What would be a reasonable cost?
Personally, I'd avoid these "cleanings" from the dealer. They are not in the service schedule either. Not required to maintain warranty and proper care of your vehicle.
Modern cars use fly by wire (actuator). The actuator can go bad, but not sure you can just clean them with a solvent. What about cleaning the throttle body?
Genesis (or any modern car) does not have a throttle plate or carb, so only the stuff that goes into the gas tank is any good on the Genesis, unless someone actually wants to pull the injectors (bad idea).I'd say get a bottle of Chevron Techron concentrate and call it a day.
Or you can do this if you really want to: http://www.amazon.com/3M-08963-Fuel-System-Tune-Up/dp/B003YJ47JO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1375740419&sr=8-1&keywords=3m+fuel+system+tune-up+kit
Thanks for the replies. So, I'll just get a bottle of that stuff the dealer uses and pour it in at my next fill up.
Pick up a bottle of 44K and your good to go!
Close inspection of the Hyundai Fuel Injector Cleaner bottle reveals that it is actually Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner with Techron. Hyundai Motors is not in the petrochemical business, so any Hyundai branded product like that is just another product that is rebranded for them with their name on it.Thanks for the replies. I buy Techron at Costco for a fraction of the Hyundai cost. Been using Techron for many years.
I add about 3 bottles every time I change oil. Note, Techron says it treats "up to sixteen gallons". This is just preventative maintenance that costs little.
I posted in another thread that Chevron PRO-GARD Fuel Injector Cleaner with Techron is on-sale at Costco for 13.99 for 6-pack of 16 oz each ($4.00 instant off at register-no coupon needed). Costco membership required. I checked the price on Amazon, and the same 6-pack sells for $37.25:F.Y.I.
Chevron Techron is currently on sale at Advance Auto Parts for $7.99. It was shown in an email sent to me about August Monthly Specials.![]()

This is a somewhat different product than Chevron Techron Concentrate, which is a little more expensive, although Chevron PRO-GARD has Techron in it. Chevron claims the Techron Concentrate product cleans more than just fuel injectors.
