  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What surprises have you "found" in your car...

OK, Mark, maybe I'm stepping outside this thread a bit, but what tires would you put on your gennie to replace the Dunlops if price were no object?
If money was no object, I'd still stick with an ultra high performance all season, and not a full out summer tire, simply because this is a sedan and by the virtue of it's design and intended use I would not migrate to a all out race tire. I have heard good things about these:
PZero Nero All Season

This really isn't what you were asking, but the biggest surprise I found in my car was under the driver seat. It was a Bic-style lighter with Korean writing on it courtesy of the assembly-line I am sure.

and it translates to.... HELP ME IM BEING HELD CAPTIVE HERE AND WORKING FOR RICE BOWLS !! :)

Courtesy of a member in a Lexicon thread:

DVD-A plays in 5.1 surround WITHOUT surround checked in settings. Engaging surround bumps the system to 7.1 surround.

This is my surpise that I found on my Genesis after owning it for 4 months

I was always surrprised that the Genesis didn't have a "mute" button on the steering wheel or on the information center. Until now I've had to push the volume button on the steering wheel or the volume knob on the dash.

Well I found it "sort of" on the steering wheel.

If you have the music on or anything on push down for a couple of seconds on the "MODE" button on the left side of the steering wheel and turn off the sound system and the screen goes back to GPS. Push down the same button for a couple of seconds again and the same music station comes back on.

I guess I stumbled on a new way to turn off/on or "mute" the radio quickly without my hands leaving the steering wheel.

Hmmm, thanks, didn't know that!

Unless I'm missing something, that requires 10 actions (button presses/movements) to cancel a route. You basically have to go to the nav menu, change route, select the destination, and then delete or delete all. Oh, and then you have to confirm that you really wanted to delete the route point. :(

Much easier to say "suspend route guidance" :)

Just tap the knob twice in map view and Nav is suspended.

I like that the sun visor extends to block sunlight from the side when necessary on the driver side.

In routing guidance mode > Hit the big knob(manu displays-suspend route) > Hit it again > :)

Its funny but the Genesis's steering wheel controls work indentical to my '06 Avalon. Holding Mode shuts off the system, holding the the arrows down seeks to the next available station or goes to the next disk in the changer.

After re-reading my post, maybe I wasn't clear, I mean't that the Kumho Solus' are probably better; even knowing nothing about them.

Now if price were no object, I'd have Hyundai offer a standard setup that catered to a better, more luxury ride. I supose that would require an all-season tire. Maybe with the Pirelli P Zero Nero or Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus.
Then there would be a sport option, with performance summer tires. I'm sure there are other great options, but my Hankook Ventus V12s are a good starting point.

Thanks for the tip on useing voice command to cancel guidence!!

Wow, Mark, you really have a high opinion of Dunlops.

Thanks for your real recommendations. I wonder.....has anyone on here replaced their Dunlops yet? And if so, what were the results?

3. the trunk opening button (the one on outside of the trunk)

Apparently Edmunds.com were bashing the Genesis for the lack of an outside trunk opening button. Well, some of our members told them about it. Look what they found.

Well, I have; does that count. And with price being a real world issue I went with the Hankook Ventus V12s. They don't come in 235/50V18 so I went with 245/45Z18. Choosing to go toward the sport side, but the ride has also lost it's harsh edge.
As for Dunlop, I'm sure they make a better tire than the ones on our Genisis'.
Yes, some of us put our money were our mouths are.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Another discovery: Position tracking. Navi > Settings > Map Options > Show Position Tracking. Shows up to the most recent 200km of GPS fixes from your car, shown as a dotted line on the map. Doesn't seem to show relative or specific time of when you were at each point, just where the car's been in the past 200km or since the last reset.

I have. Replaced with 235/50/18 Bridgestone Serenity's. Made a very noticeable improvement in ride quality. The stock Dunlops are garbage.

May seem obvious but the "variable" wiper dial sets the "aggressiveness" of the auto-wiper function.

Yeah, that was a pleasant surprise, I figured that out when I was cleaning it. Good idea. You can tell they put a lot of thought into this thing.

the lights will flash once if car is locked and no light if unlocked when trunk is closed

Surprised to find the dummy spare is Hankook branded when our cars are fitted with Dunlops as the primary tire.

sterlingdave...the seat / steering wheel movement is called "easy exit" in the car setup area. just turn it on or off. I like it...(speaking for the larger size guys?)

That trunk switch works just like the doors do. You still have to be close enough to the vehicle for it to pick up your fob.
