  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

What did you guys expect from a discount sports car? My 2012 R-spec sedan can accommodate Bluetooth phone calls but for some dumb reason they couldn't figure out Bluetooth audio so I have to use an AUX cord on a somewhat newer vehicle. Sad when an older Nissan has Bluetooth audio and this is supposed to be a top tier luxury sports sedan and doesn't have that feature. But then again its half the price of its competition so you cant really complain. Remember, its just a Hyundai after all...

In my opinion, the styling is a bit outdated though for a 2019 model. Strikes me more as something made in 16/17. Especially the taillights. Very ancient looking taillights when you get crazy new designs from Audi and Mercedes for 2019 models. Actually think my 2012 looks more stylish than this 2019

Have you played with the Lumbar Support setting button? Maybe moving it up or down could help. I had to adjust mine all the way down and all the way in for feeling comfortable.
i just want to say this suggestion helped me. Just went for a drive and put it all the way in, feels a lot better now

Wait, what

Wait, what's wrong with the BT? Works just fine for me.

Not trolling, you misunderstood me. I was talking about the Bluetooth in my 2012 Genesis R spec sedan, not the G70. Was making a point about how discount sports cars aren't gonna come with features, styling and amenities of say.... a Mercedes AMG. Genesis is a wannabe luxury brand that produces cars with good style and performance, but not necessarily all the features and amenities of goodness that say... a Mercedes AMG would have. For instance, my car doesn't have Bluetooth audio connectivity, but the competing Mercedes and BMW of the same model years do have that... I see a lot of people saying its missing this or that such as the progressive taillights and etc. And the point I'm making is don't let the Genesis badge fool you into thinking its not just a Hyundai when it comes down to it. Its a great car and a good bang for the buck, but if you guys want features and styling like mentioned in this thread, its probably gonna cost you more than a Genesis does. Gotta cough up German money for those... My 2 cents

I don’t think that making your point by comparing features between your 7year old Hyundai and the Mercedes at that time really has any bearing on the current Genesis lineup. I would go further to say if you want all the safety features and technology that are standard on Genesis and are missing on the base Mercedes you are going to have to pay some Korean bucks. .

Getting back on topic for this thread, I've had this car for over 3 months now, and I finally found something that I don't like about the car. It's briefly covered in this excellent review and made me realize what it was:

It's not buckets of fun like some of its best-handling competitors; the suspension allows a bit too much body roll, even with sport-tuned hardware on the 3.3-liter car, and the steering ratio in all variants feels too slow for rapid direction changes. Otherwise, though, it's balanced.

I've been dodging potholes a lot lately and drive my wife's 2018 accord back to back with my G70 very often. It feels much easier to quickly dodge potholes on the Accord, I assume partly due to the weight making it more nimble but also due to the steering ratio. The G70 feels definitely slower in quick directional changes while staying in the lane, if you get what I'm saying. Spirited cornering is a different story totally, the G70 wins hands down. I normally drive in custom mode with comfort steering, which might also be the problem - I'll have to see if I can get used to sports steering which might help remedy this.

I definitely find a difference with sport steering in custom ... if you leave suspension in comfort I find it's a nice balance.

Another small annoyance: gas cap. I prefer the capless ones that seem to be on all Fords and some other brands. Every time I gas up my wife's Grand Cherokee and then do my car I am annoyed at the extra completely unnecessary steps of twisting the cap and hooking on the fuel door so it doesn't scratch the paint and then repeating when I am done.

It is one of those things that I don't understand why all cars don't have this. I mean I had it 8 years ago on a 2011 Ford Expedition!

Since many people here (myself included) complained about the small nav screen and old fashion looking gauges I thought I would post the 2020 Sonata interior to show what our 2019 should have had (12.3" IP display and 10.3" nav screen):
18855

Even the 2020 Kia Soul has an available 10.3" nav screen. Most companies trickle technology down...

So many cars with large screens really make the interior of the G70 look dated and it just came out. Again I still love the car and don't regret my decision, but these two things would have been a relatively simple change and made a huge difference.

Hopefully there is a mild update to the G70 for say 2021 or 2022 that has these improvements. :)

*edit* to make it worse, the 2020 Sonata even has an updated version of the lane keeping that can follow the car in front even when it can't see lane markings. Again, most companies trickle down... lol

^^ That's the reason why I always lease my cars. I only have to wait three years for getting all the goodies new tech will bring.

Genesis said recently that the smaller screen in the G70 is reflective of the driving-focused goal of the G70. To be honest, that sounds like hindsight BS and the real reason is just that didn't manage to get the bigger screen out in time, but it may show that future G70 updates may not include a bigger screen. But all its competitors have bigger screens, so it'll likely go that route.

See, I love to lease for this reason but I was going to actually buy this vehicle. Ugh, I might as well just lease it.

That may be true...but we already know that the next year of the G70 has the same screen...from the S.Korean vids/pics.

So perhaps that logic is indeed true from them.

I am happy with it :) Not like I am watching movies, etc while driving.

Other than, say real estate to show environmental settings along side everything else, I'm not sure the need for a bigger screen. Maybe if they put Android Auto/Car Play on one side of the screen and media on the other.

I agree with the last two posts. I don't really have the need for a larger screen. It has yet to pop in my head since I've had my G70 that the screen should be larger. Based on the design of the centre stack/screen I don't think they could make it any taller without it sticking out like a sore thumb. They could go a tad wider, but that's it.

Edmguy makes a good point. That Sonata does looks impressive and who wouldn't want a virtual cockpit. On the other hand, I'm more than OK that they didn't use Genesis owners as beta testers and went with hardware/software that they know for sure works and that people like.

Has anyone noticed this behavior using the steering wheel to switch through radio station presets? If I have the Radio screen open and I push down on the steering wheel, it will go through the stations in 1,2,3,4 order. If I have Android Auto on the screen but am still listening to the radio, the controls are reversed, it will go up through the presets (4,3,2,1) instead of down.
