  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

For me, the only things that would bother me are the lack of ambient lighting and the rear turn indicator not being LED...

You can buy LED kits online and install them yourself. I've been looking at this myself because I do not want no ambient lighting. So I would buy a set, attach the LED tubes in the top of the driver and passenger footwells, and possibly even under the driver and passenger seats to provide depth color for the back too... run the wires under trim pieces to a central box in the glove box and then direct wire the box to possibly the ignition switch in the fuse box (this way whenever the ignition is on, the lights will have power).

For the rear turn LEDs, that is the most disappointing thing about this car in my eyes. Does anybody have any experience with changing them out and adding LEDs instead?
Considering that you are not standing behind the car every time the turn signals are activated, this should not be that big of an issue. Nit picking yes, truly significant, no.

I was just thinking that! When would you ever even see the rear signals??

One very ret@rded design (or maybe I am too ret@rd to figure it out: you cannot lift up the windshield wipers to change the wiper blades; it will go up maybe an inch before it gets blocked by the body panel. I tried to turn on the wipers and immediately turn off the car, the wipers will still finish the wiping motion and go back to the standard position.

I can still change the blades even with just that one inch space but still a very dumbass design. (I haven't checked the owners manual to see if there is a special way to do it)

Checking the owners manual probably would have been my first course of action if I was unfamiliar with the design on the wipers. Design and replacements vary quite substantially from automaker to automaker

For your convenience, move the
windshield wiper blades to the service
position as follows;
After turning off the engine, move the
wiper switch to the single wiping
(MIST) position within 20 seconds
and hold the switch more than 2 seconds
until the wiper blade is in the
fully up position

This is concerning to me because: in the winter I (as do alot of people) will lift my blades off the windshield if snow is anticipated so they don't freeze to the windshield.

As EdP just said though: there is a way to do it, you just have to remember to do it right after turning the engine off; which could get annoying because if you forget to do it, apparently you'll have to turn the engine back on just to lift the blades off.

Another minor issue, related to this, is the auto settings for the wipers. If you leave it in auto, the wipers will trigger without any action - even if you go into a car wash, or presumably as soon as you start up your car and the windshield is covered in ice. In my previous car it would turn off when you turn the car off to prevent this. Not major but I’ll need to make sure not to leave it in auto mode!

I've never had a car with auto wipers... do they sense the amount of rain and turn the wipers on an appropriate amount? If so, is it accurate? Kind of like a transmission if you ask me lol.... I prefer to row my own wipers instead of letting the car decide for me:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

As an owner of a 2.0T Prestige:

- acceleration from a stop is anemic. Shows up mostly when trying to make left hand turns through traffic gaps.
- gas mileage is still not great even with the lower-tier engine and using Eco mode
- can't turn off the auto stop/start permanently
- as far as I can tell, you can't turn off the adaptive part of the adaptive cruise control, and it's very aggressive in how quickly and often it slows down
- headrests do not adjust forward/back
- no ambient lighting
- radio controls work opposite depending on whether you have the radio screen up - pressing "up" will move the stations two different ways
- built-in nav comes up with some pretty creative (awful) routes once in a while
- back seat room is tight - not sure it's good enough for a road trip with adults
- no power trunk close - very annoying when you've got a bunch of groceries in your hand

For the radio controls thing: I've thought about it and the way they have it oriented makes absolute perfect sense to me; I'm impressed that they thought about it and designed as such. Here's my best shot at explaining why they did it they way that they did:

For those that don't know what this is talking about: when the radio control screen is visible on the infotainment screen, and you press the "tune" wheel up on the steering wheel, the radio moves "down" a preset channel (from 3 to 2 to 1). When the radio control screen is not visible and you press the "tune" wheel up, the radio moves "up" a preset channel (from 3 to 4 to 5). A lot of people have said this is backwards and doesn't make sense.

It makes perfect sense and here's why: your television is the same way!!! When the TV guide (radio control screen) is visible, and you press channel up (tune wheel up) the channel moves "down" (3 to 2 to 1) because we have a visual aid that we associate the action of pressing up with moving the selector "up" the list. Vice versa, when the TV guide (radio control screen) is NOT visible, and you press channel up (tune wheel up) the channel moves "up" (3 to 4 to 5) because we want to go "up" a channel and move to the next channel.

This is impressive to me because they put the thought and design into visual aids vs. perception of what the tune wheel does depending on what screen is visible. Basically, the wheel changes function depending on what screen is visible BECAUSE OF HUMAN PERCEPTION. Very smart, Genesis!!!

I have it on my 2015 genesis and I hate it honestly. Never the right speed even after fiddling with the timing selection, and sometimes I forget its on auto and it activates when there's ice on the windshield. I am glad genesis left it off the 3.3T advanced.

I'm assuming that on the trims that have the auto wipers there is a way to manually choose the setting? Would be pretty stupid if there wasn't...

f$%k me...you are totally correct. I had to do it on my TV...LOL.

You have to turn it to AUTO mode. Then you can adjust the sensitivity.
They work very well and are speed sensitive so if you are passing on the highway the speed will increase. If a car passes you and has a lot of spray, they will increase speed too. I've been splashed by other cars and the wipers cleared the glass before I could react. Took a couple of rain storms to get them adjusted the way I like but now they work well.

While your explanation makes some sort of sense, I still don't like it. When driving, do you always look at the screen when changing channels? Probably not. No matter what is on the screen I know I can go from Blues to Classic Rock to Symphony by pushing the button up, opposite pushing it down. The stations do not have to be in numerical order either. Just because the navigation is on the screen it now does the opposite.

I've lived with it and gotten used to it over time but still seems dumb to me. One reason to have buttons on the steering wheel is to simplify and eliminate the need for visual aids. Every other function remains the same. I don't see the benefit of changing one of them.

Yes absolutely, if you don't like it you can do it the old fashioned way. I do like the auto function when it is raining though, it adjusts the speed of the wipers according to how hard it's coming down.

While I agree with you that changing the function of the button might confuse some people, you have to apprecite the fact that they did it for a reason and it sn;t some design flaw.

Having said that, the best way to do it would be to have a left/right control and horizontally laid out presets on the screen too... that way moving the tune wheel on the steering wheel always goes "UP" a channel no matter what is displayed on the infotainment screen.

Yes, slow and fast. My problem with it is that the manual slow option is it's still pretty fast, and the auto doesn't have much of a range between slow and fast intervals. It also sometimes doesn't sense the rain when the rain is more of a misty rain. This is on a 2015 genesis and they may have improved upon it for the G70 but I like others prefer full manual control.

With regard to the radio controls, it is the logical way they have it set up. I finally figured out something that I am not 100% happy with....I can not raise or lower my garage door unless the vehicle is in accessory mode or running.

I would like to say for anyone reading this forum who doesn't have their G70 yet: anything I’ve mentioned is MINOR and in no way would have made me second guess buying the car!! Still love driving it!!

LOL it's funny that you say that... As soon as this thread was started I read through it and started second guessing my decision to buy one.

Then I realized how stupid that was because most of the things in this thread are so minor and are just either personal preference things or very nit-picky things and this is still an amazing machine, will be super rare driving around the streets, and it will be cool in the future to own the first model year of such an amazing car!!
