  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

Also, I know some bigger cities in the US have idle laws... you can only idle a car for 10-15 minutes max depending on the city... not allowing someone to lock the doors with it running obviously helps prevent idling as people are less inclined to leave a running car unlocked

It's actually 1 minute here in Toronto ... which seems ridiculous!

Never thought about it but I tried. No, can't lock the doors. I'm not paranoid enough that I'd want to so it has never been an issue for me. I guess it is a security issue because some idiots would leave the car running where it can be broken into and driven off. Unlike remote start, there are no safeguards built in to kill the engine. It is also illegal to do in some towns in the states because a lot of cars have been stolen in the winter when people warm them up.

I have no idea what kind of agreements car makers have with Sirius XM for trial periods. You can be pretty sure though, you paid for that 12 months in the Jeep. May have been cheaper that way, but no free lunch.

We have idle laws as well, but only in school zones when the temperature is above freezing - the 1 min in TO is crazy if that is everywhere! Is it only above zero like ours?

And I would say the vehicle is way more secure if I can lock the doors than if I can't... It is true that in cold climate areas like where I live, there are a ton of cars stolen because people run them to heat them up with the doors unlocked. When the doors are locked, the odds are way less of having your car taken. The would-be thief doesn't know if you started it with a car starter or not. I can tell this will piss me come winter time. That and the car starter only running for up to 10 min and not turning the seat heaters on. 10 min does very little when the car has been sitting in minus 20 or worse all day while at work.

As for the satellite radio, I am complaining about the short trial compared to some other manufacturers. The cost while always built into every vehicle is negligible.

Sounds like you will be driving a cold car while listening to AM radio.

What safeguards are you thinking of with remote start?

Every one I've had will kill the engine as soon as you touch the brake pedal if you don't have the key in place. They also lock the doors when starting. Genesis will stop if you open the door for too long a time. I will help my wife get in the car and by the time that is done and I walk around to the other side, it will shut down.

Never knew that. Thanks.

I have the Sports 2.0 RWD with manual transmission. The gas mileage is really good, IMO. I average about 7.7L/100KM combined. Mind you, I'm not driving it like I stole it, and I usually shift around the 2K mark, not pushing it hard. Of for sure, there's the intermittent bout of spirited cornering and acceleration, but for the most part, I'm a very tame driver.

What I despise the most is the passenger seat. The driver's seat (upgraded Napa leather with quilted stitching) has many adjustments, all electric, including the extending under thigh support. I would consider it a bit firm, but very comfortable none the less. The passenger seat has none of this. It's all mechanical adjustments, has no thigh support, and quite frankly, compared to the drivers seat, is a total POS. I find it very lamentable that a brand posturing as a luxury one would drop the ball completely on something so important. If I could speak to the person in charge of these decisions, I would say, ''Hey dumb-ass, charge 500$ more if you have to, but make sure the passenger seat is the same as the driver's.''

I didn't find this out until it was too late, but as much as I love my car, this discovery pre-buy probably would have changed my trim level decision, or even my brand decision altogether.

The passengers seat in the 3.3 Sport is 12 way adjustable (I think). I don't us it so I can't be 100% sure on that. Personally, I would prefer a remote start that wasn't on my phone.

I agree an extra remote start would be nice as long as you dont need line of site or proximity as i like using the app to start my car from my office

Your feedback is duly noted by the dumbass in charge of said decision.

;)

^ i'm also not a fan of the completely manual passenger seat in my 6MT Sport. i would have expected at least a modicum of power actuation and certainly the thigh support extension. any of this is only an issue ~1% of the time since the seat is pretty much where it needs to be for most passengers, but still. my previous cars dating back to 2004 all had some sort of passenger power. we do need to recall that Genesis bills the 6MT Sport as being the lightest and most driver-focused trim in the G70 lineup. so they dropped a few of the nice-to-have's in order to save weight - but not nearly as much as the US trim 6MT Sport which loses a lot more luxury features.

i do not like how the 6MT Sport doesn't have rear HVAC vents or front ventilated seats (in CAD). offering these at least as an option, as they have in other markets like Korea, would have been great and i would have gladly paid extra for it. i think the HVAC vents got dropped late in the game (after brochures were printed) due to Engineering problems with duct routing...

There seems to be some confusion on the part of Genesis as to what the 2.0MT really is. The Genesis brand is supposed to be luxury. The 2.0 MT is for performance. If you want a true performance machine you want less weight and are willing to give up frills like rear seat heating, but if you are buying a luxury brand , you expect certain amenities.

We all have different visions of the ideal car. If we eliminate compromise and put in every wish list item we all want, the price would probably be $30k higher. One person noted he would pay $500 more for an adjustable passenger seat, but that may be just enough to drive some customers away as their spending limit is exceeded. Maybe a 4 way seat for $200?

Of course it is not practical but it would be nice to be able to configure a full list of options to get exactly what we want made to order. As an example, I'm buying a new house in a development. They gave me a 43 page list of options to choose from. Think of a long list like that for the car of your dreams.

Yes, unfortunately, my wife is 6 feet tall, and she finds the seat extremely uncomfortable. This irritation is only compounded by the fact that I went off and bought this car without consulting her, or really requesting her input on the matter. I just showed up one day and, bang, Voila! LOL

She has very long thighs, and can only have her posterior on the seat, and her legs have to be elevated without support, since the seat doesn't dip like the driver's one, nor does it have the thigh extension.

I was actually half thinking of trying to buy a matching passenger seat with all the bells and whistles (as the one in the 57K sports trim must be), but then I figured that one, there wouldn't be any available, and two, even should I miraculously score one, there would be no power feed under the seat to plug it in.

My other brainstorm has me trying to shim the front higher, and keep the back low, so that there can at least be a more comfortable incline and thigh support for my very sexy, long-legged wife...

I hate that all the automatic G70's have Shift By Wire. (I see that the G80's and the Stnger GT2 also have SBW).

My two Sonata Sports have the regular shift lever plus paddle shifters.

With shift lever in Drive and downshifting with paddle shifter, gearbox upshifts automatically after a few seconds. HOWEVER;

With shift lever at the left, manual position, downshifting with paddle shifter (or with shift lever), gearbox stays in the gear chosen. This is what I want Great system.

CANSDIANS. (Happy Thanksgiving today - don't over drink from those "Glass Turkeys ")
When you use Paddle Shifters on your G70 SBW, does it stay in lower gear, or does it upshift by itself after a few seconds? (I guess I should test drive a Stinger GT2 to find out).

It holds the gear.
