  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What things don't you like in the G70?

...
Any other answers out there.?
Are you really serious about this, or are you just trolling?

The parking/emergency brake has two purposes.

1. Should the main brakes fail while you are moving, you can use the emergency brake to bring the car to a stop. It is slower to stop as it is just the rear wheels, and just drum brakes at that. Also, there is no ABS function, so you only want to use it if you really need it.

2. Parking brake. You should always* use the parking brake every time you shift to park. Putting the car in park engages a parking pawl (kind of like a non-rotating gear) on the output to the drive shaft. This keeps the rear wheels from both rotating in the same direction at the same time. It does not keep one from rotating forward while the other rotates backwards. The park gear will not keep the car from moving if one of the rear wheels is off the ground or otherwise does not have traction. Using the parking brake solves this problem and ensures that neither rear wheel will rotate. It also keeps undo pressure from being put on the parking pawl. With a normal mechanical gear shift, it was not uncommon to get stuck in park when parking on a steep hill without using the parking brake. You would have to get someone to push the car while you tried to shift out of park. I don't know how that works with the shift by wire, but I assume it is possible to get it stuck badly enough that the servo/motor/solenoid that retracts the parking pawl can't do it.

*: If you are somewhere where it is both wet and likely to freeze, you may not want to use the parking brake for fear that it may freeze in the on position.

In previous cars I have owned sometimes when I put the car in park with my foot on the brake and my passenger began to exit the vehicle I would release my foot brake and the car would roll a few inches to or fro depending on slope. Joegr mentions a part of that issue in his post. The pawl gave that much distance before it froze the shaft. It was unpleasant and upsetting to the passenger. Parking brake eliminated that possibility. Once set no movement was possible.

I was not aware of that! Good info.

While waiting for the G70 to finally arrive to USA. I would like to start a thread of things you don't like or would like to improve in the G70.
In my case for example, one of the things I really don't like and looks to me way outdated for a "luxury car" is the incandescent rear turn lights.
What do you think?
Just bought the 2022 G70 3.3T AWD, and I love the car in so many ways. I do wish it has a better engine option. This car would be perfect if it had a 450hp+ option. Better exhaust as well. While I’m at it, the mirrors automatically going in has proven to be a pain. I live in Ohio and we just had a winter storm where they were frozen in and I had no side mirrors while driving for a couple days.

450hp is an easy fix. Simple ECU/TCU tune or piggyback.

The mirrors folding in can be switched off

Can I get 450hp with a jb4 and KnN air filters? I’m planning on a new exhaust down the line. I did find the button for the mirrors, but it was after the storm, didn’t have the car long enough before that to figure it out. Thanks for the response!

450 Engine HP (vs wheel) - yes.

I like everything. One thing with the ambience issue, I bought usb lights for the back and glove box

My head lamps are clouding up. Anyone have a suggestion on that besides replacing them?
Watch chrisfix on how to restore it

I don't like how there isn't a separated button to open the valves.

And no full screen Android.

Thanks JonnyB yes this "fogging/clouding" is in the inside of the headlamp

I wish they’d do the right thing and fix the mix up in the Profiles and memory seats.

My wife bought her 2022 genesis G70 in October of last year. My 3 biggest gripes are:

1. No ambient lighting in the car? This should be a factory option especially when it’s showcased on the other genesis models.

2. There is no auto lock when you get a certain distance away from the car. The cars mirrors automatically fold in but it doesn’t lock the vehicle. Um ok. If there is a way to set it I haven’t found it.

3. Every factory accessory that deals with electrical requires you to splice and Jimmy rig the wiring to an existing power source in the vehicle. Why can’t they make them all plug & play just like they do on my 2021 GMC Sierra Denali? The illuminated door sills and illuminated genesis emblem both I would like to purchase for her car are not plug & play. We are paying a premium for these accessories why do I need to be splicing wires on a 50k luxury sports sedan???

Lastly, the all weather floors mats that came with the car are extremely underwhelming. I expected so much better for the price of them. Luckily the car came with them but I wouldn’t pay for these.

Aside from all of that this car is Bad Ass and I love getting behind the wheel. They really need to figure out this Apple CarPlay plug in only and we should have the key card available for the G70 models. :)

SlickRic 2.0 what package of the car was purchased with it? 2022 purchased correct?

Hers has the prestige package. I’m not sure to what this pertains to. Are we talking about the auto-lock or the key card?
