  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What tires did you replace the OEM with and how would you rate them?

Well I made the decision to go with the Continental Extreme DWS.

We get a lot of rain here in Washington and an occasional snowstorm. From what I have read on Tire Rack and other tire forums, the Conti's, Bridgestones were rated highest by most Genesis sedan owners.

I read about the Generals that Southern Boy mentions and those tires are a replacement for the Conti's if you use Conti's road hazard warranty and decline to replace your Conti's with Conti's. I think that only applies to certain tire vendors who handle Continental Tires but I cannot verify that. From what I have read about the Generals, they are also a very good tire.

Anyway, can't wait to ditch the Dunlops and try the on the new shoes!

Thanks to everyone on the forum for your tire experiences.

I went with the Conti DWS, I love them. Only wish I would have went a wider size for RWD traction.

Agreed these are superb tires. Great ride very quiet and handle very good in all but the most severe snow. I don’t drive it in those conditions anyway.

I'll be replacing the bridgestone 245/19 tires on my R Spec soon and so am interested in what others have tried that work well. I've got 17K on them now but they are gone.

A few things to think about. I live in SOCal and get very little rain. So I'm more interested in a good summer tire. I also drive aggressivelly at times as well as take long family trips in the car.

I've heard on other forums that the conti DWS have some road noise after about 10K miles. Is this true?

So what are your sugestions?

Crusty you would be interested more in the DW and not the DWS...correct? I think member dg has used the Conti DW and reported on it...I have a 2012 that came equipped with Michelin Energy tires (passenger tire with fuel use and comfort the emphasis) and I want to buy my first set of summer tires after the originals wear. I'm at 22k and the tires look fine so it will be a while before I switch. The Michelin Super Sport appear to be a "home run" and top every review of summer tires I've read. The Conti is no slouch and always win the most comfortable tire in the reviews I've seen.

Got the Conti DWS's mounted today and all I can say is WOW! :D:D

Night and day difference. Performance is exactly as described by fellow members but you really don't know until you try them.

My Discount Tire dealer was only a two miles from the freeway on ramp so I went for the high speed vibration test and I am pleased to report that no vibration was felt at 80 mph or any speed below that. There was a slight amount of right pull, hardly noticeable. And after a few right and left hand medium to hard turns, it disappeared.

Impact on bumps and minor road imperfections are soft and controlled. I did notice that in turns they are not as solid and the Dunlops but that is ok. At a standstill, the car steers easier.

It's a different machine now. I have only 10 miles on these skins as of this writing and I am more than pleased with them!

Thanks all! ;)

OK, 17800 on the odo and the bridgestones are at the wear bar. So i'm going to go look at the Conti DW's and the see how the are. Unless someone as a better choice than that.

Has anyone ran the sumitomo HTR Z III tires? They seem to have a good rateing and them along with the Conti's have a better tread wear number than the current pole position tires I have now, 300 for the sumo and 340 for the conti vs 280 for the bridge. The michilian pilot super sports look good too but are considerabley more.

Just picked up a new/used 2010 4.6 Genesis sedan a couple of months ago. The stock Bridgestone tires needed to be replace so I asked for the Michelin Pilot Sport AS Plus. They wanted $500 for the set which included lifetime balance and road hazard warranty.
So far the tires are handling great with just a very slight pull to the right but will have the corrected on the next free oil change. :)

I have Pirelli PZeros and like the handling--quiet too.

Remember UTOG ratings( tread wear) are only relative within a manufacturers brand, they have no meaning other than that

Google "MIchelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus pulls to right", you will find many buyers with problems. MIchelin has had many problems with this tire including it having chunks of the thread come off for no reason. I had to have them replaced due the the radial right side pull that so many of these tires exhibit. Michelin has a quality control porblem with the Michelin Pilot Sport a/s plus.

I bought Cooper Zeon RS3, Great tires in snow, rain, dry, quite! Price is right also!

I put these on my Mercedes. Great tire for the money.

Well I wound up ordering a set of the Conti DW. I get them installed in a week as well as a alingment.

I hope they last a little longer than the S04 Pole Positions that were on the car. 17.5K miles and they are down to 2/32". :(

I eagerly await your report Crusty. The Continental DW is on my short list for the first set of summer tires I'll own. Although not listed as a summer tire the Bridgestone Serenity 2 is also on my short list.

My (unscientific) recollection of reading other opinions on this forum, is that both tires rate very highly by owners when the tires are new, but there are more complaints about the Conti's after the tires have a fair amount of wear on them. Usually uneven wear or tracking problems.

RonP, what size Coopers did you fit to your Rspec?
