  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Finally got up close and personal with the 4.6 yesterday. Did 1st oil change and tire rotate at the base auto hobby shop. There were two younger guys working on a Toyota in the next bay. We talked a little about the Genesis. What grabbed their attention was when I pulled the wheels off. One of the said "looks like you have either carbon or ceramic rotors also." I honestly do not know what they are. Rotors had a dark tint to them.

Did a search and can not find the answer.

So my question is: What type of brake pads and rotors are on the 2010 4.6?

Thanks

Most rotors are cast iron including ours.
Carbon ceramic brakes are only offered in motor sports applications including higher end exotics.
Even the "common" Ferraris or Lambos have conventional iron brake rotors(of course those are generally multi-piece rotors to reduce warping).

Thanks....That is what I assumed. Just had wishful thinking. :D

You would not like carbon ceramic rotors if you had to have them turned. Probably cost you a fortune, or maybe have to buy new ones instead.

OTOH, you may have ceramic pads.

Bottom line is that the both the Genesis V6 and V8 sedans (V8 has bigger disks but more weight on front end) have very good 60-0 mph braking (above average for cars in their class). That's what you should really care about.
