  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

What type of oil is everyone using?

Motul full synthetic.

MOBILE 1 5W20 WINTER 5W30 SUMMER

I have a upcoming oil change. Am i good to just go to Hyundai and get the oil change for $59.99 .
They would use a good / recommended oil change .

I have heard changing oil elsewhere can cause 10 year engine warranty in future.

I use what the Hyundai dealer I go to for service uses. Works fine for me and IF I ever had an issue related to the engine/oil, it's 100% on them vs. if I tried to change oil myself or handed them some non-stocked oil to install.

Exactly they would not risk engine damage due to inferior oil . Last year the Hyundai dealership was fixing a warranty issue and they had to wash the car prior to delivery . They must have been aligning the car in the car wash and whatever happened they damaged the front passenger tire . They gave me a brand new Michelin @ $0 ... no questions asked.

nothing wrong with bringing them your own oil ,but as long as you keep records of your services you are good for warranty . taking it to dealer is the easiest way to go about things.

I am looking for a 3.727 ratio LSD differential for my 2015 Genesis 3.8 MT Coupe. I could buy it outright, use as trade or sell outright my 3.538 LSD differential with 62K miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Last 2 cars Ive had have been sports cars, so Ive always used synthetic. When I went to the dealer and requested it, they were like, we dont use that, but we can get it for you. Is my dealership just dumb or does everyone just use regular. And for whichever you use, how often are you changing the oil at?
If you love your car and want it to be in tip top shape, use a fully synthetic motor oil such as Amsoil Signature Series 5W-30 or Pennzoil Ultra Platinum or Mobil 1 Extended Protection...etc.

The Oil Change Interval, OCI, is 10k miles or kms depending on the country or dealership. However I would not rein more than 7 or 8 thousand miles then I'll change oil with a new filter.

Tip: change transmission fluid every 30k miles.

Good luck!

Royal Purple is a good oil. The best? Depends on what the car is used for I guess. However, Royal Purple like many other oil companies make various types of oil for different applications like racing and extended oil change intervals.

I personally use Valvoline high mileage full synthetic 5w-30 oil in my 2015 Genesis 5.0. I change the oil every 4k miles and my engine looks very clean at 90k miles.

My 2015 5.0 engine at 90k miles with the valve and front timing covers removed. Very clean and the timing chain system is perfect. 4k miles oil changes worked well with Valvoline high mileage oil for me on every engine that I owned. All the engines looked clean when I pulled the valve covers.

You should be looking for a good synthetic oil, not conventional. Royal Purple is not conventional, it is synthetic.

I use Red Line full synthetic in my 2016 Genny 3.8 AWD and in everything I own with an internal combustion engine... '74 Alfa Spider, standby generator, BMW motorcycle, lawnmower, Kabota tractor. Full-synthetic ester formula with extra ZDDP additive for wear control. Yes it's very expensive, but so are engines. I first came across Red Line oil in the pages of Roundel, the BMW owner club magazine. The independent garage owner that answered questions in the tech question sections used Red Line in all their cars and their customer's cars with 15,000 mile drain intervals. These folks put their reputation and their livelyhood behind this brand of oil, so it was good enough for me.
