  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Year
2021
Genesis Model Type
Genesis GV80
Ours was a 2007 Lexus ES350.

The only things that come to mind that I miss are the duplicate features on the passenger seat and the fact that you can lock/unlock from any outside door handle. In all other respects, so far, the Genesis blows it away. Time will tell how it goes from here.

It was a 1995 lexus LS400. It was a great car for the twelve years we owned it.
After only a few days of owning a Genesis sedan the only thing I miss is not having a car payment. If the Genesis had the suspension of a Lexus and the passenger seat did everything the drivers seat does it would be the perfect car.IMO

2005 Sonata. I had bought it a Manheim auction. It was a retired rental car, from Hertz I believe, and had about 20,000 miles on it. The car was for my wife and she thought the Sonata looked better than the Camry and Accord.

We had that car for 4 years and put another 40,000 miles on it. Never had a single problem. Then I sold the car for about $400 over KBB excellent condition. Needless to say I was overly pleased with my Hyundai experience. When we went to go look for new cars the Sonata, Azera and Genesis were all on the list. We got a great price on the Genesis so we were able to make that step up from the Sonata.

Now if Hyundai will just make something to compete with my Denali! :D

2001 Oldsmobile Aurora 4.0

I miss the throaty sound of the stock exhaust and the sensitivity of the throttle. The Aurora was kind of like the Genesis. You didn't see to many of them and when you found someone with one you could have a conversation about it. The Aurora engine was solid.

1999 Corvette. I don't think I really need to explain what I miss about it. However, the Genesis does a great job making me forget what all those things are. :)

Boy, tough call. I don't miss my last dozen rides. However, there are a couple cars that stand out. From a open air simplicity standpoint, I loved driving my old Fiat convertible. But I had to keep a toolbox in the trunk. From a rock solid durability standpoint, I loved my old Mercedes 190E, though it was the slowest thing I ever drove. From a scare the bejesus out of you standpoint, there was nothing like my Dodge Omni chipped turbo. That thing would torque steer and dance through the first 3 gears. You really had to pay attention or else you'd end up painting the concrete divider. Ask me how I know.

Hmmmm my last ride was a 2002 Acura 3.5RL. She was my first car and you will always have a special place in your heart for your first, lol other then that, not much else to miss about her. The Genesis has all she had and much more, ok the only thing might be the suspension. I never felt the road when i was driving my RL but at times i do feel it in my Genesis

Had a 99 Lexus GS400. Miss the smooth ride My new 09 is very bumpy. Sound system much better in the 99 Lexus. I have the 09 3.8

05 Pontiac Grand Prix...the ONLY thing I miss is the flip down rear seat.

'08 Corvette. I miss the Tire shredding power, manual transmission, and intoxicating exhaust(Corsa) sound.
Genesis is quite the opposite and frankly, I'm really enjoying the quietness and smooth ride, plus the awesome Lexicon system. :)

I definitely will be getting a sports car as a weekend toy sometime in the future.

My 1992 Acura NSX...talk about a head turner!!

Two friends of mine had a 1991, both of 'em red.
When we were out on a drive, imagine the attention we got.
Later one of them traded in his NSX for a Lotus Exige S and the attention was even crazier.
Yeah, he's an attention whore. :D

Quite a collection of cars you had there. :)

Yeah, for some reason the best memories are of the early years...even though those cars were way less expensive than what I've owned over the last few decades. In fact, I forgot to mention my motorcycles...I do miss those the most...except for the part where people constantly try to kill you when you drive them...or when you get caught in a downpour, with no cover to hide under...or when you hit a patch of loose gravel or freshly applied asphalt sealant and go for a 200 foot ride on your side...or.....

P.S. The Dodge Omni GLH turbo yielded one of my best stupid driving stories. I was young and stupid and trying to get to work in 1/2 the time. As I was passing cars in the left lane...at about 40mph faster than they were going, a guy pulled out in front of me....5 feet in front of me. I slammed on the brakes but it was obvious I wasn't going to make it so I yanked the car into the next lane over...except it wasn't a lane but that thin divider between the left lane and the concrete highway divider. The rear started coming loose and I countersteered as I let up on the brake but stuff was happening way too fast for my inexperienced driving skills and next thing I knew I was spinning down the road. I hit the concrete barrier with, not one, not two, but all four sides of the car, jettisoning the front and back bumpers, like a ship trying to dump ballast. I still am amazed at the other drivers skills on the road. No one hit me or the various parts of my car strewn on the road, while I pirouetted down the freeway. When I came to a rest I ran out and removed my bumpers and other large and obvious body parts blocking the freeway and then limped my car over to the right hand side and parked, trying to decide what my next move was. Could I limp it to work on the side roads? Next thing I know a cop pulls up behind me with his flashers going. He steps out and asks me if I just had an accident. Without hesitation I looked in his eyes and told him, "No, all this stuff happened earlier, and I'm just driving the car to the body shop." He must have been in a hurry and not wanted to deal with the paperwork, because just as quickly, he responded, "OK, please drive careful." and went back to his car and drove off.

My last two cars were Acura TL's. The last was a 2006. I miss the high intensity headlights, the superior tires, the ability to open the windows and sun roof from the outside and the ability to have only one outside mirror rotate down. [My 2010 Genesis rotates both or neither.]

Are you sure? On the 2009's, only the passenger mirror rotates down with the mirror adjustment switch in one position and they both rotate down with it in the other position.

"the ability to open the windows and sun roof from the outside "

It would be nice if we had that feature.

With my NSX, I had the opportunity to do a lap (controlled) of the Dubai Autodrome...not sure if I will ge that chance ever again.

That's a crazy story! Glad you weren't hurt, nor anyone else.
Pretty smart of you to pull that kinda story in front of a cop. :D

When I gassed too much in my Vette and ended up in a ditch, I was trying to pull it out with my friend's van.
Of course an undercover cop pulls over and flashes his light.
He asks "A lil' too much gas?", and I said ".... yes, sir..."
He was a nice officer and suggested I should call a tow truck instead.
He also asked me what kind of exhaust I had, commented how nice the car is, etc.
Then, he just let me go even without a warning.
Learned my lesson and realized my lack of driving skills. :o

I bet you don't miss the torque steer though, huh? ;)

I pulled my bike out the garage Saturday because I haven't ridden it in over three months. It's a satisfying feeling heading up the California coastline knowing you have one of the fastest street legal vehicles in the World--
