  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is the rear Hyundai emblem easy to replace?
I guess the front ornament requires drilling holes in the car, which I'm not going to do. I least not myself. :)

Window tint....35%, which is legal in my state (Tennessee). Didn't see that option on the list! Llumar ceramic product used, as recommended in the owner's manual. I had the sunroof tinted, too. Makes for a great look with a black interior.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I would do 20" wheels and a slightly lowered suspension right from the start. I think with tint and badges it'd be good to go. I've already had enough of the loud exhaust and intake, I'm ready for a quiet car.

What on earth are you doing to what is reported as one of the best car audio systems on the planet? Would this be a dealer mod, or a third party mod?

Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate the stereo, I'm just boosting the output and making the sound sharper for XM/Sirius listening. No the bass is fine. My nephew is a sound engineer and is doing the tweeking for me. He has assured me it's a quick adjustment to the factory equipment.

As a replacement to. You don't add a smaller sub to a bigger sub unless you REALLY want to ruin the smaller one. The bigger sub will just simply overpressure and over travel the smaller cone. It will eventually destroy it.
It just add a wee bit more base. I would add a full on EQ in the stereo if given a choice, the base stereo isn't that great for tuneability.
thank you

Actually, the amp driving the sub(s) would roll over and die. It couldn't handle the electrical load @ the output (ohms). It would be an interesting game for the TV show "Mythbusters" (one of my favorites) to see whether the amp or the speakers would go first. The interesting thing to me is that the bass that's being added is done so from the rear of the car--not in a balanced format from the other speakers that can handle the low frequencies. (This is what I gather from your description). I had a number of cars and audio systems (cheap ones at that) in many cars that gave me that kind of sound. I'm very glad over the years that I've learned balanced sound is more important to me than excessive sound pressure in any frequency range. My ears applauded when I made that discovery!

Dan,
I understand what you mean. I did my first thesis on a hypersensitive microphone. (mulitple use from ultra low frequencies to frequencies FAR beyond human hearing 100k hz). Anyway I thought the sound was a little weak down low. So I checked with my RTA system (ETF, Energy Time Frequency http://www.etfacoustic.com/ ). Of course it showed quite alot down in the lower frequencies. Of course you match the ohm values so as not to hurt the amplifier, that is just common RCL (Resistor, Capacitor, Inductor) circuits stuff.

As for a balanced system, its all dependent, I don't think you'd like a completely balanced system when you have it. It doesn't sound that good. Plus everybody ear IS different, I enjoy a balanced MUSICAL system, some people may not. I'm more concerned with sound stage and how things are presented to the listener. Unfortunatley he/she isn't in the center of the car, so that makes things a little difficult without a digital sound processor to delay the signals to each system. Hence why I wanted a full 16 station EQ.

AND one last thing, when you tune your subwoofer to 60hz or less you have standing wave of about 15ft+, with in a car would manifest itself as an omni-directional sound. You start to get into trouble past 240hz when the wave gets small enough to be heard of as directional (240hz ~ 4ft wave). Just food for thought.

Anyways good luck
