  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

In the past, whenever I had a car with good looking wheels, I always got a set of Wheel Locks. I got to thinking a few days ago, that whenever I sold said cars, I always saved the locks, so off to the shed I went and dug up the two sets I still have. One set does not have the same thread as the Genesis, but the other does. (It was from a Toyota I once owned) Fits perfect EXCEPT it is too long. That is, the wheel cap or cover will not fit back on.
I then checked KAI and they have them (they say for the Genesis) at $29.95 however I just don't like ordering mail order unless I have to, and I want to make sure that it would fit the 4.6 wheels just in case the 3.8 wheels are different in that area. Next, I went into McGard's website, as they are the ones who made the wheel locks from my shed. They also have them for the Genesis, but it was hard to understand what will fit and what will not, so again, I decided not to get them mail order (or telephone order). I next phoned my great parts guy, Richard at Orlando Hyundai to see if he had them. Looked them up and yes, he has them in stock. $33.00. When I go in for my oil change prior to my trip out west, I'll get them and have them put on right there at the dealer to make sure they will fit.

Hmmm, that's strange, my Genesis came with the wheel locks... I thought they all would. Might be another Canadian thing, like the iPod cable that comes with the car up here.

The wheel locks and iPod cable are both accessories here in the US. Some of the cars do come with them, but not complementary. You are charged for them at an inflated price. My car came with neither. I paid $40 plus shipping for both the locks and the cable after I got my car. And it wasn't from the dealer where the car was purchased. Just a headsup, there are two types of wheel locks, one for those lugs which are exposed, and one for those which have lugs covered. The locks are shorter on the covered ones of course.

Moose,

Thats why I won't order these mail order, or by telephone. I want to make sure they are the short ones, right there at the dealer.

Bob, I hear you loud and clear. There are plenty of folks who aren't phone/web shoppers due to the potential of errors amoung other things. I trusted the Hyundai delearship I ordered from knew what they were doing. They had an easy to understand website that clearly stated the short and long locks. It worked well for me. Plus based on the price you say you were quoted, saved me about $20 on the locks.
