  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The chrome on my wheels has been peeling away. How do I fix this or is something that Hyundai should do?

Hi Jack - What car do you have, and what year is it? I don't believe chrome was ever used on a Genesis, but I know that the Equus received chrome wheels.

To answer your question: Do you have the polished silver (Hyper silver) wheels? A few people have reported their wheels peeling when either the dealer or even themselves have used the incorrect type of wheel cleaner, which damaged the wheel finish. What product(s) do you use to clean your wheels?

You can always get them powder coated in any color you'd like. Services usually run $85+ per wheel depending on location/shop.

As far as I know, you can’t powder coat over chrome. You'd have to strip them down first, which cost even more than powder coat.

Kwiksilver, a national rim fixing chain, gave me estimate of $125 per wheel to blast, pretreat, and powder. Fixing dings and gouges were going to be charge by the hour.

You are all right. The dealer told me about the sand blasting and recoating ~$85-120 per wheel... Too much for something that never should have happened. I only take it through car washes, soap and water etc.

Yes they are not chrome, 2009 Genesis 4.8L V8 with Tech Package had the satin look.

Thanks all!
