  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just returned from a 4700 mile trip. Daytona to Tucson through Texas on I-10. Then to Scotsdale AZ and back East via I-40 and Rt 66. Then to Boston and back to Daytona. I did not see one Genesis. We saw lots of Sonatas but no Genesis. As a matter of fact I have never seen one on the road.

Sunday, we saw our first one in the 4 months we've owned it. It was a black one parked outside a business on Long Lake, still sporting the U.S. Hyundai logos on the wheel caps.

I definitely don't see them very often. In the 2 months I've owned mine, I've seen 2 other than mine, one white, and one black. In Baltimore, I'd expect to have seen many more. I see Sonatas every day. Not that I'm complaining, there are 3 black Lexus ES's in my parking lot at work. I don't mind being different.

I don't know about the rest of the country but here in Georgia there are a plenty. I see at least 2 to 3 a week here and they are not the same colors.

Let's see last week, Silver, white, Carbenet Red. The week before that a sleek looking black and another silver. By the way this was at different areas in Georgia.

I can only remember seeing four in the last year and a half - two here in Michigan and two in Florida.

That brings up another question: How are Genesis sales? Has anyone seen any sales figures? Are they as projected? Better? Worse? I've looked a little, but haven't been able to find any numbers so far.

The V8 Genesis is in limited supply because of fleet mileage concerns and relatively low demand.

Black/Black and Black/Beige are geenrally available at dealers. Black/Saddle is very rarely available as most models sent to dealers are put in service as a personal car for the dealer, wife, girlfriend.

This is based on many conversations with North Region, Corporate in California, and various dealers in NJ.

It took approximately 5 weeks for me to receive a black/saddle with tech package and almost daily telephone calls to Region.

:)

We were originally looking for Black/Cashmere, Black/Saddle and a couple of others and none were to be found in any of the states surrounding us.

Here is Boca Raton Fl, I could count them all day long without getting a break. They are extremely common.

I've seen about four in the last 2.5 months in Nashville, TN.

Frankly, I don't want them to be common like a Lexus LS430/460.

I see about 10 Sonatas every day.

If they keep selling as they are, expect to see many more of them than the Lexus LS430/460s. Do you remember when the Sonatas were relatively rare? and know you see as many if not more of them than Honda Accords.

I have not seen any in the Portland area, so not too common in these here parts!!.

I'm torn. I like us having the only one around, but I don't want Hyundai to fail and give up on the effort either. It makes me think back on this little restaurant my wife and I used to visit. Great food. Quiet. Always could get a table. Unfortunately, they went out of business.

Recall the Mazda Millenia?............nice car that died............

Ha! I agree Ron. It was sure dam impressive for it's time and for being a Mazda.

Hyundai is doing it right.... they've got their anhcor baby (Sonata).

It is kind of nice with so few around. Folks are always coming up and saying "What is that", "Do you like it", Sometimes I'll show them the inside and I have even given some rides. It reminds me of the days when I owned a VW Phaeton.

Fantastic car! Too bad it was short-lived.
The attention that went into little details is just amazing.
Looks like you enjoy driving some rare cars. :)

Tell me about it! I loved the Phaeton:) Matter of fact, it's the only VW I thought was worth a darn. But it was great.

saw just one black genesis here in Houston @ Cornelius nursery - and that's pretty much it...
