  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know of car dealerships in the Midwest that have the 2010 Genesis Sedan? I have called a couple dealerships in the Chicago area and have heard that the 2010's might not be here for a couple months and they cannot order them yet.

Don't you understand the first rule of salesmanship? If they don't have one in stock (already sold out) tell the customer that it is no longer made or they cannot get one yet. They don't want you going somewhere else just because they are out of stock (or if they haven't ordered any from the distributor). The few 2010's that are available have gone pretty fast (for obvious reasons), and most importantly many dealers have a lot of 2009's they need to get rid of before they start placing large orders for the 2010 sedans.

Can't directly answer your question, however if it makes you feel any better, the dealer here in the Rochester NY area that I checked with (Fuccillo) does not have any, plus when I phoned my Florida Dealer (Orlando Hyundai), my favorate salesperson told me that there are only four in the entire state, and Orlando Hyundai is not one of them.

I will be leaving Penfield (Rochester) in a couple days for Florida, as I have an appointment with Orlando Hyundai on thursday morning to replace the amplifier in my car. (I may have some other service done at the same time).
I will check again with my favorate salesperson to see how many 2010's in Florida, and when will Orlando Hyundai get theirs in.

Earlier posts indicated that the 2010 models were showing up on the West Coast a few weeks ago. I have confirmed there are 2010 V8 sedans already at the Knoxville TN dealerships. When I phoned them, the salesman told me they heard the V6 sedans would not be coming as quickly. Could also have been a sales pitch, but I just purchased my 2009 V6 today at below invoice, so I'll miss some of the upgrades on the 2010 models.

That wasn't really necessary, was it? The question was asked in good faith.
Do you work at a Hyundai dealership? My answer was given in good faith also. A potential customer should know that when they ask a question like that, the salesperson may not answer truthfully based on the delear's own best interests as they perceive them.

Yes, the 2010 models are scarce, but "a couple months"? Give me a break. Also, you can't really count the number in stock, since we don't know how many have been sold. There are a quite a few people (for obvious reasons, whether you agree or not) who were waiting for the 2010 models and have snapped them up.

Actually, I'm only referring to your lack of tact, not that you're not right. There are ways to educate folks, especially those new to this site, on the ways of the world. The "that wasn't really necessary" part was referring to the excerpt I quoted.

Try AutoTrader.com
I have found dealerships all over the country (mainly on the west coast) that have the 2010 Genesis. I'm waiting on the 2010 models to arrive in my area. Yes they are selling like hotcakes. So be ready to pay MSRP if you plan on purchasing now.

I know there being on the west coast. Thats where I purchased my 2010, and you can get theme below MSRP. Good luck..

Mark_888,
I get that it's the SWAN song (Sell What's Available Now). it's why I posted here, to see if any one (especially in the Chicago area) knew of any dealerships that had any in stock. i am one of those people that have eagerly awaited the 2010 and actually owe that decision to you and the other kind folks that provide input on this forum. What is confusing is that none of the dealerships have offered to take an order for a 2010.

Thanks,

There's a light blue v8 tech at Lithia in Renton
There's a silver v8 tech at Doug's in Lynnwood
There's a black v8 tech at Car Pros in Shoreline

All 2010's

I can think of several reason why they will not take an order on a 2010.

1. They really, really want to clear out 2009 stock, and they really want customers to think they will need get a 2009 if they want a Genesis sedan anytime soon.

2. The dealers may not be able to afford to order any (or very many) 2010's if they have a lot of 2009's in stock.

3. They don't really know what kind of demand there will be for the 2010's, and are not willing to discount the price in advance, so why even bother negotiating with a customer if they will just get pissed off at the dealership.

4. They don't really know what colors and options they can get a hold of short term.

Think of it this way: have you ever been to a restaurant that doesn't take reservations? Usually these are places that are packed all the time, and they don't need to. Usually, these are the places with the best food.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
The OP didn't specify what he's looking for, V6 or V8, Tech or no. That said, Pugi in Downers Grove gets a 4.6 w/no Tech (White Cashmire) tomorrow, a 3.8 Premium Plus on Wed. (Black/Black), and a 4.6 w/Tech in 10 days. The Sales Manager said he's willing to go below MSRP, but obviously not as much as the '09.
Also of potential interest: the remaining '09's are soon to get special pricing. No specifics, but my impression is the company is supplying that (not the dealers).
Anyway, OP, ask for Dave Novak and mention this board or post. He won't screw around with you.

Great analogy! Thanks for the replies!

I drive past Pugi quite a bit when heading downtown (you can see it from I-290). Thanks for the information. By the way, what's OP? I know I will feel stupid the second you tell me :) but I haven't figured it out yet.

I am in the market for a Steel Blue/Blk 4.6 Tech with all the options. I plan on getting the windows tinted and probably will change the badges to the winged ones that look so good on many of the cars posted here.

Thanks,
