  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Just returned to FL after spending 10 days in Southern California (La Jolla).

I travelled the 5, 15, 8, 125 and 94 and saw ONE Champagne Beige Genesis and ONE sparkling Equus in all of my travels.

Saw lots of Lambos and Ferrari's and even a Bentley Continental, but only the two high end Hyundais.

What gives?

Despite the fact that HMA is located in SC and they have a big R&D facility there, California is very status conscious when it comes to high end cars. Hyundai has no problem at the low end, but people in CA like to be seen in more status conscious brands, especially BMW, MB, and the ones you mentioned.

I'm in LA. Not too many here. Surprising since people really know and love cars here. I guess SoCal is really about the brand cachet and/or buying a car that has real driving prowess.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I'm a little farther north in ventura county. But I have no problems of driving mine south and often do to visit the inlaws. I've seen a few up here but only one other R Spec, and it's the same color as mine. :(. Also have a neighbor down the street who bought a Genney in the same color, just not a R Spec.

I don't go a day without seeing multiple Genny's. However I'm in Hollywood and Koreatown is next door. The estimate is 1500-2000 Genesis sold per month in the USA. Here's an article from Automobile Magazine I saw today:

The Best Cars That Nobody Buys

I actually see about 1000 Genneys a day when I go to work. But only a R Spec every few months. They roll off the ships and are stored here until they go thru customs and are then shipped out to the dealers. ;)

I wach them drive off the ships and down the road in front of my office.

I'm in Orange County, CA.

I've only seen two other R-Specs since Nov.

I live in Hollywood and drive quite a bit around SoCal (Ventura to south OC) and hardly ever see any Gennys in my travels. Those I do see are usually coupes and they tend to be a few years older than the current model. Having said that, when I pull along side another one on the freeway, we usually have a 'moment' and a thumbup follows shortly.

You must have left before I bought my R-Spec (last Thursday). :D I don't see very many here in San Diego. I agree with what the other person said about the status of the vehicles. People here would rather get a used BMW or Mercedes than spend the same money on a better Genesis. Crazy. People will learn soon though, then the price of these cars will be as much as those they are competing against.

I've seen more and more around Orange County, but especially since I bought my black beauty I have noticed them more. My main drag is the 5 between the 91 and Alton Pkwy (south OC). I saw an Rspec at Ralphs a few weeks ago too...But all I could think was that I probably spent $14,000 less than they did! haha. I'm not a burner and I think my v6 has plenty of power on tap for me. Beautiful cars.

I did look at CPO 528, E350 when I was shopping. The new E350 happened in 2010 so it was over 40k and I didnt like the previous gen body style. I hate the new 528 body style, the 2009 was nice if not dated, I actually sat down and haggled a great condition CPO 2009 528...close but didn't happen. I thought back on the Genny and worked out a fantastic deal for thousands less than the 2009 CPO 528i...and I'm so glad I did. I see those two cars around so much and they really don't look like anything special to me. Maybe that's sour grapes, but I don't think so. I am totally satisfied with my purchase more like.

There are quite few in koreatown...i guess koreans are really proud of their brand! haha but where i used to live in Pasadena...i see none...

haven't seen any in San Diego

I see several every day - both sedans and coupes - on my commute in Orange County. Surface streets only - no freeways needed for my 6 mile commute. There seems to be a fair number around Cypress, Garden Grove, and Huntington Beach. (northwest Orange County basically)

I see about 10 a day probably. Not including the 3 in my immediate neighborhood. Well represented out in the Valley

I haven't seen a one in my sporadic forays down the hill. Just completed a driving vacation through Moab, Telluride, Santa Fe, and the Flaggstaff / Grand Canyon areas. We finally saw a sister car following us in the Grand Canyon N.P.. I think we and that driver had a "moment" despite the rain that was coming down at the time.

I do hope / wish that the numbers were a little more so that Hyundai doesn't get any crazy ideas about closing down sales.

The sales numbers are pretty bad. I think Hyundai 1/2 measured it by introducing the car without making the investment in a separate brand e.g Lexus. Also, I never see any Genesis ads except maybe on CNN once and awhile.

Ha! There are a bunch in Koreatown. I see 2-4 per day. Diamond bar, Rowland Hts, Garden Grove, Irvine, all these cities have some gennys rolling around.

I see several Gennys around Tustin/Irvine. There's at least one other in my apartment complex...

I saw two new 2012 Gennys in Platinum Metallic parked right next to each other in Foothill Ranch. One of them was leaving as I was, gave the nod. :welcome:

I really like that color, but still love my black (when it's clean!)
