  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am new to this forum, however I have owned other luxury brands over the years, and belonged to the associated owner forums. In all cases, the manufacturer participated in the forum. They would respond to inaccurate posts, address issues raised by customers, and generally enhance the owners perception of the manufacturers customer service. They would also ignore and not participate in trash talking or bitch session threads. I've looked around this forum, and unless I missed it , Hyundai does not participate.
If I'm correct and they don't participate , they should , it would make a difference in how the owners feel about how the manufacturer values them as customers.

Hyundai does not officially participate. There have been a few dealer techs and salespeople from time to time.

Hyundai does have their own site called https://www.hyundailistens.com but I not sure how to join (I was invited years ago after my purchase).

Not sure what will happen when Genesis becomes its own brand, separate from Hyundai (later this year).

My experience is different. I rarely see manufacturers participate in car forums I have also spend many years on. They clearly monitor them, but usually do not represent themselves nor participate. Not surprising, as participation would be a tricky thing - they cannot respond to future plans, individual issues or even issues which may have merit without committing the company. Also, most rely on the dealer network as the bridge (and shield) between the consumer.

I'm not sure what forums that were not run by the manufacturer you have seen this, but none I have been on have named company personnel involved in these discussions.

I have been in formums where the manufacturers participate. It makes a big difference. The manufacturer answers questions on the product and gain valuable feedback from the participants.

Lincoln participation on the LS forum between 2000-2003 that owners club members were invited to Detroit for a VIP plant tour and were allowed to drive LSes on the Ford proving grounds demonstrating various handling traits. Members were asked to give feedback on various future design changes in addition to constructive critiques of the product. It was very beneficial for everyone.

It didn't seem to benefit Lincoln much, though, if sales were a criterion.

GM customer care is very active on one of the larger Cadillac forums, but I've been on other large GM forums where they're not visibly present at all. That's the only forum where I can recall seeing the manufacturer actively post.

You are correct, Lincoln and Cadillac as well as Jaguar were active on the owners forums. I had an LS, and it was a very nice car for its time. Unfortunately , the production cost for that platform was too high for the targeted selling price. That is why both the LS and the T-Bird went away. They were selling well, but Ford was not maintaining the margins that they needed. Both cars were recognized by the automotive publishing community as very competent performers, but alas the bean counters killed the products. The LS platform lives on as a Jaguar XF.

The Buick Owners Group also has Buick customer service on regularly to help people with minor issues and direct them to the appropriate people for more complicated issues...
